Me and my friend have had several conversations about how we don't like the designs of the "Poglings" from the upcoming game with the same name. They're way too "corporate cute" and not enough...
c r e e c h u r .
Is my version better or worse??

I'm tempted to caption this "A mermaid and a couple of tits" but I can't do that, I would get the funny police after me. This is Naia the Fountain Faerie from Neopets, with two faerie pteris.
I'm very happy with how this turned out! I'm genuinely interested in what you think too, I'm not here to just engagement farm.
I also finally took the time to download and figure out Glaze, hence all the little artifacts all across the image. Big pieces that I post online from here on out will not be the best quality unfortunately, you can thank all the rampant art theft for that.

After years of creative burnout and demoralization, I've felt like it might be possible for me to return to art recently. I've like, seriously considered it. But still taking it slow.
But that also comes with having to face the reality that there is no site on the internet that I feel excited about posting on and trying to build up, there's no place to call home.
DeviantArt supports the exploitation of artists, Instagram is a full-time job, I don't like the reblog system on Tumblr, and Twitter is... Twitter. And every other alternative site is kind of dead.
I love my OC blog, but that's only for one branch of my art. I wish there was a good site with a gallery feature, siiiigh.

This makes me imagine all of us artists evolving into poison dart frogs. Ribbit ribbit, leeches.

I've been trying to do some sketches and doodles and stuff every now and then to gradually get into the habit of drawing again. I liked the sketch I did of my Lutari, so I finished it.
I miss having an organized gallery with folders and stuff, so I think I'll try out Ko-fi for that. Follow me there, thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback on my previous post.
I think the common answer across here and on DA was that my most recognizable artistic trait is my art style, like shape language and shading, and not necessarily what I draw.
The reason why I care is because when you can't get people interested in your art, which depends a ton on the subject you draw, you receive little to no feedback.
But I still put in a ton of time, effort and energy. But without feedback, it feels very... rewardless. And I think that played a part in my current multiple years-long burn-out.
To me, art is communication. I've used art to express myself when I haven't been able to do it through words. So if no one wants to listen, it takes out a lot of the fun and how cathartic it feels, I guess.

I feel like I don't have a strong artistic identity.
Usually, artists have that one topic they're known for drawing and they build their identity and notoriety around that thing. But I can't stick to one thing, which makes me feel like I'm very forgettable because not sticking to one thing creates a very weak artistic identity.
I'm very often very insecure about this.
Sure, I have my OCs and my Toonocosm head-world. But even then I feel like OC art is still quite a low percentage of everything I make, especially in recent years.
So I figured I'd ask you all, what do you associate me with as an artist? The more specific you can be, the better.

Why don't you like people reblogging your art? /gen
That's the best way to get new people to see it
I don't like that reblogs are basically reposts on Tumblr.
It does kill your discoverability a bit, but I mean... I've been playing the numbers game that is social media for a big portion of my life. And a high follower number won't make me happy, I'm much happier when I focus and appreciate the people that are already here now, that like and comment on my art.
