val was sat on her regular bench where she fed the birds like the little old lady she was. she knew who it was without a shadow of a doubt and she grinned up at the boy even though the sun was stopping her from seeing anything but a silhouette. “that was the lamest so-called joke i have ever heard. i thought you of all people would come up with something remotely funny but apparently not.”
grateful for the few remaining weeks left of break, taylor decided to do something a little different with his day. he found himself wandering around the closest park, scuffing his sneakers on the gravel pathway, his eyes wandering between the food stands and the people lying in the grass. out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar face and didn’t hesitate to make his way to where they stood. “hey,” he began, a joking smile growing on his face, “haven’t seen ya since last year.”

val hummed, she didn’t really know what she craved. “i’ll have whatever you recommend, i’m not very good at decision making.” she stood next to the boy and took a quick look around at the people up and down the bar before looking back at riley.
Riley grinned back at her and maneuvered his way through the crowd. He wasn’t that short but he was pretty sure she’d lose him in an instant if she wasn’t holding on to him. And vice versa, she was tiny herself. “I couldn’t agree more. What would you like to drink?” He asked as he pressed himself against the bar to get a spot.
