Day 6 - “Why are there vigilantes in the boathouse?”
the girls care significantly less abt Tim’s angsting abt telling bear he’s Robin. Bernard is just annoyed bc he just finished making dinner before they arrived and now they’re all down to half portions. He’s currently complaining to Tim abt that on the phone

"Please don't leave me" | CHEF BERNARD | Touch Starved
Inspired by this post of @hoopoo09
Tim is privileged to have a loving Chef boyfriend who makes him homemade lunches to eat on patrol! Which makes him the target of his brothers and Steph, who will try anything to steal his food… Except Cass, because she was the only one who asked if Tim would give her something.
Bernard cooks varied meals (in this case it was the turn of a Japanese bento) always keeping in mind the caloric intake of a vigilante, and also making everything delicious and putting loving little notes that make Tim very happy!.
The note says: "I love you and if you break any bones I will kill you. Be safe babe 💓"

“So help me, Tim, Bernard deserves,” Pie begins, and then, as Bernard opens the door, breaks off. “Um,” they continue, with a considering look to Bernard, and then to not only Robin, but several of the other familiar Gotham faces, “why are there vigilantes in the boathouse?”
“I can explain,” Bernard says, confidently, but doesn’t continue, just beaming his disarming smile at Pie, who carefully raises an eyebrow and points it at the group of teenagers, and pointedly doesn’t say anything.
“We’re, um. Planning?” Robin says, with the sort of confidence that makes Pie wince, because a vigilante should at least sound like they know what they’re doing, even if it is daytime. And they don’t want to know what the Bats are planning – nothing good ever comes of knowing what the Bats are up to – but they would at least like the kids to be sure of themselves.
“We’re planning a heist,” says the purple one, who Pie is pretty sure changed her name to Batgirl recently, except they can’t be entirely sure, because they thought the other one was Batgirl. It’s possible that they’re both Batgirl, except they work closely enough Pie thinks that would probably get real confusing real quick. Not that other people don’t share names and work together fine. (Pie wouldn’t know.) “Not a heist,” she adds, at an elbow from the other Batgirl.
“We’re collecting evidence,” Robin says, slightly more confidently than the last time he spoke, but not in a way that Pie finds particularly inspiring. Also, they’d like to know where Tim is in all this, because they definitely saw him walk into the boathouse a while ago, before they made tea, and then changed their mind and decided to give Tim a piece of it.
“They’re heisting evidence,” Bernard says, slightly conspiratorially, and Pie’s not completely sure what’s going on, but it can’t be all that bad if Bernard thinks it’s that funny. Well, the vigilantes don’t seem to like his attitude towards it, but he’s not afraid of them, or of the situation, and that’s all you can really ask for once Bats get involved.
“Do I want to know evidence of what?” Pie asks, even though they’re pretty sure they don’t. Oh, they’d help Robin if he asked, he’s the one on the Marina rounds most nights, he’s their Bat. And Bernard’s theirs, too, of course, almost as much as Tim is, and just as much given how young these idiots are, and how much of a helping hand they need, separately and together. So there’s always the impulse to help, even though, well, Pie knows they don’t want to know. But if they have to, they will.
“It’s really not a heist,” Robin rushes to reassure them, even though the heist part was the least of Pie’s worries. “It’s more of, you know, reconnaissance. We’re just. Information gathering. Collecting… well, yeah, collecting evidence. Nothing like a heist, Bernard.” Robin gives Bernard the kind of look that has Pie second guessing the whole thing with Tim, wondering whether they of all people assumed monogamy was going on when no one had ever used that word. Clearly, the two get along and trust each other, at any rate.
“It’s not a – Robin, we’re planning how to rappel down from the roof, disable the security on the windows, and then hack into the computer,” Bernard says, looking to Pie, who nods vaguely, because that sure sounds like a heist to them, also. “In what way is that not a heist? That is like textbook heist.”
“For information,” Batgirl (the one in black) says, also looking to Pie for confirmation, it’s just that Pie doesn’t even know her, and they aren’t entirely sure they agree with her anyway. “It’s not a heist if we only want information. Heists are for jewels.”
“Or art,” Robin says, thoughtfully, as they all continue listing things that one could conceivably heist, seemingly coming to the agreement that it isn’t a heist after all, since they won’t be removing any physical goods from the premises, only data. And then some long aside about piracy, and how copying data isn’t the same thing as stealing it, and then a second aside about how digital media really made it a lot harder to curate private collections of films.
So by the time they finish arguing about that – Robin and Bernard getting into their own argument about the best distribution methodology for TV shows – and the purple Batgirl turns to Pie to say, “so you see, it’s only sort of a heist, but it’s for a good cause and you don’t have to worry,” Pie doesn’t care because they’ve already figured out what’s going on.
The kids in the boathouse, where it’s dark and not many people come out here, being secretive with their silly elaborate plan, easily distracted and not staying on task? Vigilantes in the daytime? Tim being gone ‘somewhere’ and ‘will totally be back later’? Obviously these kids are here to get high, and who is Pie to stand in the way of that? That’s a normal rite of passage for teenagers, and the boathouse maybe the most obviously place to do it.
“Alright,” says Pie, eventually, as the crosstalk has devolved into five separate conversations, “well, you have my number, Bernard? Yeah. You just call if anything goes wrong, okay? I don’t care how small it is. If you get worried, you call me.” And they wait long enough for everyone to give them grudging affirmatives before they add, “you stay safe, kids.” And then leave, before they have to find out what exactly Tim came back with.

Tim’s pretty sure Bernard has a concussion. The light is too low to see whether his pupil is dilated, but his speech is slurred, and he’s scared – they’re all scared – but he’s clinging to Tim in a way he doesn’t, usually, when he knows Tim has to leave. There’s minutes, maybe, until the guards come back, and Tim has to be gone if he wants to slip out. He can’t do this in his civvies. It’s the hope people need, more than just punching a few goons.
“Please don’t leave me,” Bernard says, again, tugging at Tim’s sleeve, and he can’t. He has to hope the promised bombs all over the city is some kind of lie, an exaggeration. These guys are new. Maybe they don’t know Gotham’s history, maybe they don’t know just how many bombs people have put ‘all over the city’ in the long, long history of Batman’s legacy, and every other superhero in every other city, too.
He’d be more worried if they were at a crappier restaurant. This could easily pass for one of the highlights of Gotham, one of the nicest places in the city. Tim thinks maybe they only hit city hall, the city center, a couple tourist traps, a couple of the glamorous spots. Maybe only places people will be looking, anyway. And he knows there’s a bomb here, one he can still disable, if they make a mistake and let him at it. So he stays.
“Please,” Bernard says again, clinging to Tim’s shirt and crying, hair rough against his neck where Bernard shakes too hard, muttering words that trail into incoherence and Tim has to hope that’s only from terror, not from the injury getting worse. He strokes Bernard’s head as gently as he can, trying not to wince every time his fingers hit blood, because if Bernard’s not flinching over it, neither should he. “I’m not going to leave you, Bear,” Tim says, softly, scooching closer, pulling Bernard practically into his lap, despite the anxious looks of the other diners, the judgmental expressions on a few faces. The city needs him, but Bernard needs him too. Bernard is repeating himself, so Tim repeats himself too, arms wrapped tighter and tighter, not letting go.

Tim Drake x Bernard Dowd — Identity Reveal.
Tim and Bernard had to talk. Now that the things were calm, and they were done with the cult of the Chaos Monster, there were things that needed to be resolved, they both knew it, and they were both afraid of it.
Tim texted Bernard, saying "we need to talk", which he saw and didn't reply. The truth is, they haven't really talked since Bernard showed up with all the batfamily and the marina to save Tim, or Robin. Tim took care of Bernard until he was sure he was okay, and Bernard did the same for him, but after that, the situation got awkward, and they both knew they were delaying the inevitable.
Tim was in his boat, wearing an old t-shirt that was probably Dick's, walking back and forth waiting for an answer from Bernard when he heard something coming from outside the boat. When he went to see what it was, he found Bernard entering his room. Sometimes Tim forgot that he gave a copy of his key to Bernard, saying he could use it when he needed to, if the situation got tough. He had to fight an urge to hug his boyfriend, at that point Tim had already become dependent on Bernard's touch. He never really liked physical touch, but it was different with his boyfriend, not touching him was so hard.
"Hey" Bernard said "I was nearby and I saw that you wanted to talk" it was a lie, he was already on his way to Tim's boat when he saw the message.
"Yeah" Tim replied, not knowing how to go on.
Even though he knew what he needed to talk, he had no idea how to start a conversation like that. He was so scared, he was afraid of how Bernard would react, and was so afraid of losing him. Bernard had already become an important part of Tim's life, a bigger part than he was willing to admit, and he wasn't the only one who notice it, his siblings and his friends talked about how happy he looked, and that they hadn't seen Tim this way in a long time. That's why he was so afraid of telling the truth, because that meant change, and change scared him.
Thinking rationally, Tim knew that Bernard liked Robin, his Robin, but liking him and dating him were two different things, and an irrational part of his brain kept telling him that being Robin would make him lose Bernard, as it has made him love everything else.
Bernard pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Listen, Tim" he said, trying to stay calm "I really didn't mean to find out. I had no idea when we started going out."
Tim could see the pleading in his eyes.
"I wanted to tell you" he let the words slip out, staring at the floor "but it was too dangerous, I couldn't risk it, not again" he said, looking at his boyfriend.
Bernard was silent for a while. He knew Tim was scared, but he wasn't the only one. Bernard was afraid Tim would get mad at him for finding out or for not telling him what he knew.
He knew Tim wasn't like that, not his Tim, but there was a voice in his head that kept saying "he'll leave you like everyone else, like he's left you before, you always screw up", and it was hard to ignore this voice.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I found out" his voice was choked, and he felt tears forming in his eyes. He was trying to be rational, but he was so used to letting people down and being punished for it that it was hard to imagine any other scenario "I was afraid of what might happen."
Tim stared at him, he really wanted to hug him, but he didn't know if Bernard wanted to. Tim has never been good at showing affection, and he never quite knew how to handle it.
"I…" when Bernard looked at him, Tim released that feeling he had trapped in his chest, not knowing what to do with it "I'm relieved that you know" he said, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted from his lungs "every time I had to lie to you, I wanted to tell you the truth. I was afraid you would think the problem was you, and that if you knew the truth, I would lose you."
Bernard had to hold back a laugh. The idea of Tim losing him was almost comical. It was something much more likely that he would lose Tim, but he wouldn't say that.
"If It makes you feel better" he said, wiping his eyes "your excuses weren't exactly the best" he smiled.
"I usually lie better than that" he replied, smiling over the teary eyes he didn't even notice he had.
"So you're not really mad at me?" Bernard asked, he needed to be sure.
"No, of course not" Tim reassured him "I was just surprised, I though you would be pissed that I didn't tell you" he said guiltily.
"I figured you had your reasons, and you'd tell me at some point, but I didn't think I would have to tell you first" Bernard couldn't contain his smile of relief.
"When did you find out?" Tim asked.
"I had my suspicions, but I was sure when I tried to cook on your boat and accidentally opened a giant computer with the Robin symbol" he replied, to which Tim looked away, embarrassed at his inability to keep his secret "but you know I wouldn't tell anyone, right?" he asked, taking Tim's hands.
"I trust you, Bernard"
"I trust you too, my boy wonder" he replied, kissing Tim.
They kissed for a while, and neither of them could say when they ended up on the couch.
"By the way," Bernard said, between kisses, "Pie told me they saw Robin here the other night," he chuckled between sentences, "they're sure you're cheating on me."
"And what did you do?" Tim asked, snuggling into Bernard's lap.
"I said that we are a threesome."
"You what?"
Ok so this was supposed to be posted on monday but I only managed to finish today. Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language and I just quickly revised it. But I hope you liked it!!

"But there was still something particularly ironic about him waking up and knowing that something was wrong, not because he was in pain, but because he wasn’t.
There were little twinges of tightness as he curled his fingers in the sheet beneath him, as if his scars had migrated down to his wrists. A little stiffness in his shoulder when he flexed it to test his muscles.
But his normal pain was gone. The aches and pangs and groans of his body had all gone silent after years of them just getting louder with every new trip to the med-bay."

Bernard: Hey, you're home late. How was work
Tim, running on 36 hours of no sleep and forgetting that his boyfriend doesn't know he's robin/red Robin yet and forgetting he has a day job: I punched the joker and Riddler in the face, then Batman and I got smoothies, so I'd say pretty good.

Can you imagine Bernard kissing Tim's cheek and telling him to be safe on patrol as he hands him a lunch box filled with snacks and little notes so Tim won't forget to eat while on patrol.
Because Bernard packed those specially for tim, he doesn't want to make him feel bad by not eating them.
Tim also doesn't share his Bernard snacks.
the note says something along the lines of "I love you and if you break any bones I will kill you. Be safe 💓"
Tim loves this.
