Thoughts on AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament

Last week on Dynamite we saw Darby Allin relinquish the AEW World Tag Team Championships after the retirement of his partner the Icon Sting. This past Friday we saw the bracket for the Tag Team Championship Tournament revealed. I'll admit that I'm a bit disappointed with the bracket only featuring 10 teams, Tony Khan teased March Madness being in season for this tournament so part of me expected a much larger bracket to go with the gimmick, there are also some notable tag teams missing from the bracket such as The Death Triangle, Gates of Agony, LFI, Dark Order and Blackpool Combat Club.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Bryan Danielson Review

I don't find myself watching alot of AEW Collision since it's on Saturdays and normally I'm out of the house or gaming, but tonight I took the time to watch AEW's third show of the week. The episode kicked off in a singles match between hard hitting shoot style wrestler Katsuyori Shibata and one of the greatest wrestlers in the world Bryan Danielson. Interestingly both men in this match were forced to retire at one point due to head injuries, now they're killing each other and possibly creating new head injuries. This was a great hard hitting and technical match from two world class professional wrestlers, ending with Bryan Danielson picking up the win via pinfall.

Thoughts on WrestleMania XL

The 40th edition of WrestleMania is only a few days away and the excitement in the wrestling world is growing more and more. Being held live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Lincoln Financial Field the home of the Philadelphia Eagles. We have a double main event set on both nights, with Roman Reigns & The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins on Night One and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The story between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes has been the most intriguing story going on in WWE right now, probably the only one as it's been the single focus for this year, last year at WrestleMania we saw Cody fail to defeat Roman Reigns, now in the rematch he has the whole fanbase on his side when he gets a second chance of ending Roman Reigns historic championship run.

Mercedes Mone Makes Long Awaited Debut on AEW Dynamite

This past Wednesday we saw, the long awaited AEW debut of Mercedes Mone with a Mercedes Mone is All Elite graphic and all. Mercedes has spent the last few months out on injury after getting injured in a match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW STRONG Resurgence 2023. Mercedes has been making waves after she walked out of WWE appearing in Japanese Wrestling promotions New Japan Pro Wrestling and World Wonder Ring Stardom. Now making her debut in AEW, it said that she had been speaking with both AEW and WWE, but ultimately decided AEW was the best option for her. On Dynamite we saw her address the crowd on her debut, as well as come in for the save in the main event after Willow Nightingale was getting attacked by Julia Hart and Skye Blue.

AEW Revolution 2024 Review

Last Sunday was AEW Revolution 2024, which is the first Pay Per View on the calendar for All Elite Wrestling. This show was headlined by Sting's Last Match, as the legend hanged his boots after a 30 year career.

The show was an all timer with a lot of great action on the card but I'll take focus on some of my favorite matches that was on the show.

Eddie Kingston vs. Bryan Danielson for the AEW Continental Crown Championship:

This is the third time that Kingston and Danielson has faced off against one another in AEW, and both men have a long history with each other. This match was truly more than a Championship match but it was also match that was built on respect. Danielson doesn't Kingston and the last two times they've faced off against each Kingston and Danielson have split the series. Eddie looks to prove himself in a brutal and hard hitting match where he ultimately gets the victory.

Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita:

Some people consider Will Ospreay as the greatest Wrestler in the World today, and I am one of those people. In this match Will Ospreay makes his official AEW debut after signing as a free agent against Don Callis Family faction mate Konosuke Takeshita. This match was more of a exhibition than a match with a story behind it, and both men provided some great action and athleticism, with this match truly shining as the match of the night.

Darby Allin & Sting vs. The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship:

What more can I say about this match? An epic conclusion to the career of The Icon. This match had Sting and his partner Darby defend the World Tag Team Championship against AEW's bad guy EVPs Matthew & Nicholas Jackson. Sting came out with his sons also dressed as past versions of his looks, and we got to see a hardcore match. Including Darby Allin jumping off a ladder into some glass. The match capped off a memorable night and one of the best AEW ppvs in recent memory, as well as a great send off to Sting.
