Daily reminder that:
Witchcraft and the metaphysical cannot cure mental illness, physical illness, or disorders.
Mental health symptoms are not signs your "third eye" is opening.
Spreading misinformation about what the metaphysical can do actively hurts people.
You have to believe scientists. That's not up for debate.

I apologize for not being very present at the moment. I am going through an awfully bad period and I prefered to (try to) value my own mental health rather than being overproductive and sharing with you pointless articles.
I hope you understand and I promise that I will continue to keep this blog running. I just need some time...

I did an article about the subject, but this one is so well-written and documented I couldn't not share it !
Practicing Witchcraft in Secret
Tumblr media
I love things that are traditionally “witchy.” I love dressing candles with herbs. I love setting things on fire. I love making poppets and charms. But not everyone is able to be so obvious in their craft. For various reasons, some witches choose to be secretive about their magical practice.
Why Would You Want to Keep It a Secret?
Historically, witches kept their practice a secret because it wasn’t safe to be open about their beliefs. In the late middle ages, the Catholic Church began to actively persecute witchcraft, herbal medicine, and folk spirituality with the publication of “witch hunting guides” like the Malleus Maleficarum. This witch hunting fervor would continue even after the Protestant Reformation, with some of the most famous witch hunts (such as the Salem trials) carried out by Protestants.
It is important to remember that the witch hunts were political at their heart and that very few of the people executed for witchcraft were what we would recognize today as witches. They were mostly women, poor folks, or members of ethnic or religious minorities. But even so, the danger of being accused of witchcraft and/or devil worship drove many medieval witches, herbalists, and pagans to hide their practice.
The United States experienced a modern witch hunt of sorts in the 1980s with the “Satanic Panic.” We still don’t entirely understand what caused this cultural phenomenon, but what we do know is that it resulted in widespread paranoia about devil worship. Anything that could be misconstrued as “satanic” was shunned or outright persecuted, from Dungeons & Dragons to heavy metal music to nature-based religions like Wicca — and, yes, witchcraft. People who had been comfortably open about their spirituality suddenly found themselves practicing behind closed doors. If you’re over 30, you may remember this. If you’re under 30, the Satanic Panic probably shaped how your parents view witchcraft and paganism, and they may still be grossly misinformed as a result.
Even today, a lot of witches choose to keep their practice a secret because it would be unsafe or uncomfortable to go public. Many witches have family members, friends, or coworkers who would be uncomfortable if they knew about their witchcraft, and may even choose to end the relationship because of it. Some witches live in culturally Christian areas where it might be harder for them to get jobs or make friends if they were openly self-identifying as a witch. Some of us live in places where an outdoor ritual could get the cops called on us, or have missionaries showing up to save our souls.
On the other hand, some witches just like privacy. You may feel like your spirituality is nobody’s business but yours, and for that reason you may prefer to do witchcraft in a way that is more subtle and secretive. Desire for privacy is a perfectly valid reason to stay “in the broom closet.”
There are also some magical traditions that require members to swear a vow of secrecy and to keep the group’s secrets. However, these traditions usually require an in-person initiation, so I won’t be discussing them here.
Inconspicuous Witchcraft
If you haven’t read my posts about magical journaling and kitchen magic, I highly recommend you check them out. Those are two forms of magic that are very easy to practice discretely.
No matter what your reason for keeping your practice a secret, here are a few tips for making magic without drawing attention.
Use scented candles. Candle magic is one of the easiest and most versatile forms of spellwork, and all it requires is a candle and your intention. Scented candles are perfect for undercover witches because, rather than adding herbs and oils, you can simply buy a scent that matches your intention. (For example, a vanilla candle is great for love, while a pumpkin spice scent will attract wealth.) Plus, they’re so commonplace that no one will think twice about seeing one in your bedroom or on your desk at work. If you’re a purist and want to make sure you’re using real plant materials, you can get all natural candles scented with essential oils — but lots of witches use artificial scents and get good results, so don’t feel like you have to go with the more expensive option.
Diffuse essential oils. Essential oils contain the concentrated essence of a plant, which makes them a must-have tool for witches. Essential oils are also extremely popular right now, both for holistic healing and for aromatherapy, so you definitely won’t attract any negative attention for using them. You can get a good essential oil diffuser for under $20 online. Some brands overcharge for their oils, but you can find good quality oils for under $10. When choosing an essential oil, look at the magical correspondences for the plant it is made from. You can diffuse oils to infuse your space with their energy, similar to the way you would use incense.
Enchant your perfume. You can choose a perfume to match your intention or make your own custom perfume by mixing essential oils in a carrier oil. Focus on your intention as you spray the perfume, letting it infuse your energy field with magic. You can also buy magical perfume blends from witch-owned businesses online or on Etsy.
Learn shufflemancy. “Shufflemancy” is a modern form of divination that is done by putting a playlist on shuffle — whatever song plays first contains an intuitive message for you, either in the lyrics or in how it makes you feel. You can find playlists specifically made for divination by Googling “shufflemancy playlist,” or you can make your own by compiling a playlist of songs from different genres that deal with different topics. Just be sure to keep it diverse — if your playlist only has love songs on it, you might not get very helpful messages if you have a question about your career.
Learn bibliomancy. This divination method is similar to shufflemancy, but much older. Bibliomancy is done by asking your question while holding a book, focusing on your question while connecting with the book’s energy, and then opening it to a random page. There is a long, long tradition within Christianity of doing this with the Bible — if you feel connected to a certain sacred text, you could use it for bibliomancy. You could also use a book of poetry, a novel, or even a dictionary. However, I think it’s important to use a book you feel a connection to, rather than something randomly grabbed off the shelf.
Use Pinterest and Spotify as manifestation tools. You may have heard of vision boards, a tool used to manifest something by creating a detailed collection of images that match your intention. Pinterest boards are already essentially virtual vision boards, and creating one with focused intent can be a spell by itself. Likewise, you can use Spotify playlists for manifestation. To do this, create a playlist of songs that match your intention (songs about money or love, for example) and listen to it while meditating on your desired outcome.
Choose your outfits with intention. You can pick clothes based on color correspondences (see this post for a guide to color magic), the material they are made from (a wool sweater vs. a cotton T-shirt), or some other symbolism. For example, if you want to feel empowered, you might wear leopard print to channel the energy of a fierce predator.
Enchant a piece of jewelry for a specific purpose. You can choose your jewelry based on the correspondence of the metal or gemstones it is made from, make your own piece, or use whatever you already have on hand. You can enchant this jewelry by passing it over the flame of a candle or through the vapor of an essential oil diffuser. State what purpose you want this charm to serve, either out loud or in your mind. Wear this jewelry whenever you need to tap into that energy, and make sure to cleanse it often.
Create magical art. If you want to manifest something, draw or paint a picture of it. You don’t have to be a skilled artist — what matters is that you are taking your mental image of what you want and bringing it into the physical world. Fold up the picture and keep it in your pillow, or in some other special place. Likewise, if you want to banish something, draw or paint a picture of it and then rip it into little pieces and throw it out. This ritual allows you to purge yourself of the negative emotions tied to the thing you are banishing.
Take a magical bath. We rarely have more privacy than when we’re in the tub. Taking a bath is already a ritual of sorts, and it’s easy to add magic. You can, of course, make magical bath salts by mixing essential oils into Epsom salt, but you can also create bath spells with household objects. For example, a bath with salt and vinegar will clear up nasty energy, while adding milk to your bath will attract love and abundance.
Practicing in secret does not have to mean a less deep or well-rounded practice. There are lots of magical acts that can be done subtly or kept private. The suggestions in this post are by no means exhaustive, and I hope they will give you some ideas for other ways to fill your life with undercover magic.

I am non-Jew, but this is a good reminder for all of the people that overhype for Christmas and basically act offended when they see something that has "nothig to do" with Christmas for them. Be respectful, don't be a d*ck with other cultures and religions and stay open-minded because, and I will say it loud : Bein' a jerk ain't good for dah Christmas spirit.
I don’t even think Christmas shouldn’t be all over the public space like it is. Clearly it does make a lot of people happy and I lowkey I actually kind of like it too! (Sort of. But I also don’t.) So, continue covering your town square or wherever with trees and lights, I’m not saying not to. What I *am* asking for is:
- Acknowledge that Christmas is not a universal holiday and that some people either feel negatively about it or just don’t celebrate it. Stop being offended by this.
- Stop forcing people to participate. Don’t make your Jewish employees wear Christmas outfits, don’t make schoolkids be part of Christmas plays, etc.
- Stop pushing back when Jews are honest with you about how they feel about it.
- Stop deflecting to talk about how Christmas traditions are actually pagan in origin. We know, and also it’s fully irrelevant to our issues with Christmas.
- Recognize things from other cultures. Or at very least don’t *prevent* members of other cultures from expressing them. If your employee wants to put up a menorah, let them. If your coworker wants to add a Chanukah decoration to your office don’t take it down when they’re not looking because it “messes up the Christmas spirit” or whatever.
- Recognize things from different cultures at other times of the year too. Let your Jewish students and employees take days off for the fall holidays. Maybe even consider merchandise or decorations for those holidays too!
- Stop with the double standards. You don’t get to say that a menorah is religious and a Christmas tree isn’t. Either both of them are or neither of them are. A menorah actually is a ritual object but a) plenty of secular Jews use them and b) I don’t think most Christians know that, they just think of Judaism (and therefore Jewish culture) as “a religion” and Christian culture as normal. When people claim to object to Chanukah (the holiday most widely — and often exclusively — celebrated by secular Jews) because it’s “religious,” they’re actually objecting because it’s non-normative.
- Listen when someone is telling you about their experiences with and thoughts about hegemonic culture. Don’t argue that actually it’s fine becaude Christmas is secular or pagan or whatever. Trust people about the experiences they’ve had and how things impact them.
(Yes, non-Jews can reblog this.)

SAMHAIN CELEBRATION -COVID-19 EDITION
Tumblr media
In France, we are forced to face another locked down until December 1st (if everything goes well, we had to wait four whole months last time) which means that we cancelled Halloween/Samhain, so I figured that it would be good to share with you some indoor activities ideas I have for this Sabbat.
SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS
I consider each Sabbats as a great time to spend with the ones you love (either romantically or platonically).
If you live with young children, organise a Trick-or-Treat hunt in the house (it's like Egg hunting during Easter/Ostara, but with candies and small pranks). You do not need a garden : just hide the treats in the house (be sure to avoid the kitchen or any dangerous locations).
Dress up with your friends or relatives, either it is a Halloween costume or a more ceremonial outfit exclusively thought for the Sabbat.
Organise a virtual meeting with your friends on Discord, Facebook or any other website or messaging apps. You can even celebrate the Sabbat with them that way !
Cook and bake with them some goods : cinnamon cookies, pumkin pies, caramelised apples... You can also bake and cook your ancestors and lost relatives' favorite dishes to honor them !
DO SOME WITCHY STUFF
Samhain is one of the major Sabbat of the year, plus this one welcomes a blue moon !
Make your plans for the following days, or even the year : It's a new year, so it is time to think about the previous year, about what we've done or haven't accomplished to understand how we can improve ourselves during the next. It is one of the best moment to start a bullet journal, keeping track of your habits or just starting a new good habit (for me, it is to stop blaming myself for everything).
Create some Full Blue Moon water : just expose a bottle of water under the moonlight the whole night on your windowsill or inside on a surface near the window so the light of the moon can touch it. Do not forget to take it away from there before the sun appears.
Cleanse and charge your crystals : In general, every crystals can be charged under the full moon (It will take much more time than if exposed to the sun, so you will need to let them rest on your windowill the entire night as well). However, be sure to pick them up before the sun appears, especially the one which color would fade when exposed to it like Rose Quartz or Amethysts. [BE CAREFULL : some crystals has to be purified differently depending of their compositions - or else you will see your selenite disappear in a glass of toxic water. Please, do your researches first !]
Consecrate your tools : what a better moment to do it if not during a Sabbat ?
Do some divination : pendulum, tarot and scrying are the one I do personally. You can even learn a new divination method !
Update your Book of Shadow and/or Grimoire : I go with the idea that a BoS is a journal in which you write about your own experience as a witch, the spells you tried and how they went... while a Grimoire would be more organised, almost a finished product relating everything you've done from basic knowledge to advanced spells. You can even start it is you didn't done so already. Just keep in mind that the most important thing is its content, not the aesthetic (althoug I admit that you can have some fun drawing in it to make it more pleasing to you).
Purification baths : In the Wiccan belief, Samhain is the end of the year, and the beginning of the next. You don't want to bring all the negativity accumulated during this harsh year with you, right ? If you do not have a bathtub (which is my case) you can use a small bag in which you stuff some herbs inside to rub yourself with in the shower, or create a special scrub meant for this. Be sure that the ingredients you use are safe to be used on your skin by doing some research (look at how to make body scrubs, body soap etc... and compare the ingredients to their magical properties).
TIME FOR OURSELVES & OTHERS
I know some of use aren't necessarily all witches or Wiccan. Maybe some of us are Christian witches, others are Atheist... But we all can do many thigs according to our own culture, beliefs or religions.
Meditate : I talked about journaling, but meditation is another thing you can do regularly.
Give some money to Charity, Indigeneous artists and sign petitions : this is something I do as much as possible in my daily life. Some of the actions and movements you can support are the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBT community and Indigeneous people, as well as to the homeless, victims of domestic abuse. You can, as I wrote, either give some money to a Charity auction profiting to them, buy merchandising and arts made by POC people, sign petitions in order to help them... I am a white European cisgender woman, my only problem is to be a woman ; for the rest I stay a privileged person. And I hate this. I know it might sounds political, but my hope for the future is to live in a world that doesn't discriminate you for your origins, your gender, your sexuality or your religion, as all of these things are part of what makes a human unique and beautiful.
Help the others : following what I've said before, if you have the possibility to help people around you, it is a great chance to do so. You can, for example, help your neighbour's children for their homework through Discord, Skype, Facebook... You can also, if you can, help your eldery neighbours accessing food and essential supplies by purchasing the items for them or having a chat with them before you go home (in France, we are allowed 1 hour outside around our home, and as I take the time to walk with my dogs I also take the time to talk to them when they are at their window, so they won't feel alone, or less alone at least).
Please, stay at home, wear a mask outside, then take your shoes off and wash your hands when coming back home to save people and your family.

I corrected a mistake I have done in my latest article about cleansing methods.
This mistake was about the smoke method (with incense or herbs), as I wrote a bit too fast and almost forgot to talk about the issue with White Sage and Palo Santo (the overuse of it causing issues in ecosystems), but also about cultural appropriation (as the word smudging is used by a lot of people to refer to smoke cleansing, which brings this important issue).
I hope you forgive me this big mistake of mine. Do not hesitate to correct me is I forgot or explained something too poorly.

WITCHCRAFT 101 : CLEANSING
Tumblr media
Hello everyone ! It is been a while since I posted something, so I decided to write an article about cleansing. However, everything I wrote is based by my own believes and my personnal practice : if you disagree with something I say or if you want to add something, feel free to leave a comment with your remarks. I am only starting to consider myself as an advanced witch and I am completely aware that I can do mistakes. My first desire is to learn from my mistakes.
What is cleansing and how it is different from cleaning ?
Cleansing is the act of purifying a space or an object from any negative, bad or unwanted energies that would interfere into your spellwork. This action aims to get rid of any residual energies, repulse unwanted guests such as entities from the other world, spirits, demons (although this won't be enough alone)... It differs from cleaning.
Why is it important to cleanse ?
It is important as you don't want any energy/entity/... to interfere during your spell or in your daily life. For example, when moving into a new house or before performing a spell. The reason is the same : to get rid off of any energies that would still be there. For the house, to repulse any energy left by the previous inhabitant of the said house, but also to prepare the space for a warding. When about to perform a spell, to let go of the previous energy I called upon during a spell I did before.
What are the different ways to cleanse ?
Each methods of cleansing has their own advantages but also their inconveniences. Here are some of the ways I learned about :
SMOKE OF HERBS AND INCENSE : One of the most well-known way to cleanse a space is to use the smoke from incense or herbs. Light the incense or burn the herbs then guide the smoke in the area.
Pros : It's a popular practice and easy to do, the possibility to match the incense or herbs to your intents either purify a space or consecrate a space for the spell that will be cast, a good offering for deities and spirits. It also smell very good.
Cos : some herbs like Palo Santo and White Sage endangered other species and ecosystems due to their overuse. Also, there is practices from closed cultures such as smudging that cannot be done by people that do not belong to the culture. I urge you to do researches about cultural appropriation for this reason. If you live with some people that do not like the smell of incense or have medical breathing issues, this won't be a good idea at all too.
CLEANING : Although there is a huge difference between cleansing a space before or after a ritual or a spell and tidying your room, cleaning -when intended to be a form of purification- can do wonders.
Pros : The perfect alternative for closet witches, discreet and not suspicious for non-witches. You can add certain oils in the water you use to mop the floor, grounded coffee to clean leather-made fourniture... You can pretend that you prefer more ecological ways to clean your house !
Cons : You must have some knowledge in the different ways to make your own cleaning products -if you want to make them yourself-, which can sometimes seem complicated depending of the recipe you chose. If you use essential oils, be careful about the one you want to use as some aren't safe for skin and/or pets.
SPRAY : Another affordable way to cleanse a space is to create a water-based solution you will spray around you and the space you want to cleanse.
Pros :Easy to make, smells great too ; you can use essential oils, herbs and crystals that will match your intent.
Cons : Be cautious on the herbs, oils and crystals you use as not all of them are safe to use (selenite dissolves in water and becomes toxic, some herbs are poisonous, certain oils aren't safe to be used around pets...). Always do some researches before making one !
MUSIC AND SOUNDS : Music and sounds are made out of the vibration of frequencies in the air. So, playing certains frequencies in a room you want to cleanse will also work of those energies. You can also use the chimes of a bell, your own voice in order to sing, or an instrument.
Pros : There is a great amount of playlists on Youtube, Spotify and Deezer compilig many songs made out of those perticular frequencies ; it helps also with meditation and... Everyone likes music, right ?
Cons : Not everyone likes music, in fact. And not everyone likes to meditate with sound too. If you live with your family or a roommate, they may not like it. Also, you may be self-conscious about your voice or your skill when playing an instrument which will make you nervous. (It is my case)
CRYSTALS : Some crystals are known to attract certains things to the owner of the stone (love and friedship for rose quartz, focus with tiger eyes...), and some others are known to help to purify and protect a space by absorbing energies such as clear quartz or obsidian.
Pros : They are elegantly pretty and various, some are affordable
Cons : Among the fact that some crystals can be pretty expensive or will need a bigger amount of cleansing -because crystals needs to be cleanse more or less often- it also require child labour and poor wages for the minners that collect them. Please, be cautious about that, inform yourself on the business behind and try to purchase from equitable suppliers as much as possible.
If I forgot to add a method or if I did a mistake somewhere, please do not hesitate to leave a comment or to send me a DM. I hope that this will help some of you. May your days be blessed and your lives safe from any harm.

Uses of Moon Water
Tumblr media
Moon water – water that has been charged by the moon – has several uses in Witchcraft and magick. Many people charge their moon water in the light of the full moon, but it can be created during other moon phases as well. Like with spellcasting and rituals, the full moon is often seen as the most powerful time to charge your moon water. However, you might also charge your water to fit correspondences of other moon phases, too! And of course, you might also try to time charging your moon water based on the time of year.
Below are some general ideas about how you might decide to use your moon water.
Uses of Moon Water:
Energising, cleansing, and charging crystals – moon water is great for cleansing and empowering crystals! You can place your crystals in a jar with some moon water, to help amplify their energy. Make sure to check your crystals can be placed in water, though! Some crystals aren’t safe in water.
Bathing and cleaning yourself – you can add some moon water to your bath, or use some moon water to wash your hands or face as a cleansing ritual, blessing, or bath magick.
Drinking moon water – take a couple of sips of moon water each day to empower yourself with the moon’s energy. If you choose to drink your moon water, make sure you use spring or distilled water when making your moon water and keep it in the fridge. You could even use some moon water in your coffee or tea!
Making potions, cleansing sprays etc. – utilise the power of the moon and its correspondences to enhance your potions, or use moon water to make a little cleansing spray to use in your room or home.
Watering your plants or adding some moon water to flower vases – you might decide to water your plants with moon water, as a way to enhance your connection with them. You could also add some moon water to your vase of flowers.
Making fragrances or perfumes – you could also use your moon water to make perfumes or fragrances, to amplify your intentions or as part of a glamour spell!
Representing the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals on your altar – you could place some moon water in a container and put this on your altar, as representation of the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals.
Diffusing moon water in your home – you could place some moon water in an aromatherapy diffuser with your choice of essential oils, to help clear the air and enhance the effects of the oils you use.
Thinking about moon phases and correspondences:
As I mentioned before, you might want to think about your intentions and timings of when you charged your moon water. For example, May’s Full Flower Moon is often associated with love, health, and romance. So, water charged under May’s full moon might be useful in empowering crystals associated with love or the heart chakra, or enhancing spells related to compassion, love, romance, healing, and self-acceptance. Similarly, you might think about the season you charged your moon water, and what kinds of associations this season has for you.
Remember – the important part of any ritual, spellwork, or magick is your intentions, and what this means for YOU. My list is non-exhaustive – there are so many possibilities of what you can do! The important thing is to do what feels right for you personally.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Blessed be <3

Sleeping bag – An update to the Sleep-bottle Spell
Tumblr media
I have been making nightmares for a long time which caused insomnia and extreme exhaustion. This spell is meant to help calm these nightmares, attracting sweet dreams and making the waking up easier. DISCLAIMER : Witchcraft does NOT replace Western modern medicine or a therapy with a psychologist. If you need help to boost the therapy, this is fine but over-wise it won’t heal you all alone. If you are struggling with extreme cases of insomnia, intense physical or mental exhaustion, please go to speak to a doctor first !
Materials :
Blue fabric
White thread
Salt for its protective properties
Lavender to bring calm
Peppermint for protection
Rose petals
Cinnamon stick for comfort, warmth and protection ; also to have a little boost when waking up.
Rose Quartz to attract calm and stop the nightmares
Sodalite for calm
Clear Quartz to amplify the spell
Embroider a moon in the blue fabric (or draw it with sharpie or fabric paint), then sew it and leave an opening to add the herbs and the crystals. Turn it inside out if necessary.
Pour the salt, the flowers and herbs, then add the cinnamon stick and the crystals.
Close the bag with a ladder stitch.
Place the little pouch under your pillow or inside your pillowcase.

Spell - To Banish the Past
Tumblr media
A spell inspired by @the-sugar-plum-witch, who did a similar spell in order to make a fresh start in her craft. In my case, I’ve done it in order to get rid off of all the negativity of the previous years of complete chaos.
The aim here is not to yell “YEET” to your past, but really to help you to turn over a new leaf in your life, your craft or any kind of aspects of your life.
However, keep this in mind : your past will never change and you will not forget it that easily, especially if yours has been really painful, but doing this can help you to let go of some burdens and sadness you may have suffer from.
To perform this spell, you will need:
A lighter or some matches
A black candle - banishing
Something to carve the candle
An item representing the past to you
Optional : a black bag
Let’s get started!
First, carve on the candle the words “Banish” and “Past”. You can also create a sigil based on these words.
Then, light the candle. Take some time to meditate on your intent, why you do this spell : what part of your past do you want to let go ?
Take your candle and pour the wax on the item. If it’s a book, seal it by pouring the wax on the edges of the book ; for any small item or that can’t be sealed that way, use a small black fabric bag or paper you will seal with a thread for the first and some wax for the latter.
You are free to keep the item but I recommend to bury the item or throwing it away.
I hope this spell can help you. Always be safe and take care of yourself, as you deserve to be loved as much as anyone else.

hi! im always trying to learn more about tarot, but i keep coming across the same entry level tips and lessons. do you have any advice for more advanced or intermediate tarot readers?
Advanced Tarot Techniques
You come across tips for beginners because tips are generally for beginners. External sources, such as books and websites, are mostly meant for readers who are in the early stages of their journey. They are training wheels.
The moment you consider yourself intermediate, your growth should mainly be internal. That is, as you read for yourself, you discover new ways of how the cards manifest. And as others approach you with questions you have never been asked before, you develop new ways of seeking answers. That is how you mature as a reader.
Here are methods and findings I uncovered for myself back when I was intermediate and further enhanced once I was advanced:
