So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!

To peel something means to remove the peel from it. To coat something means to add a coat to it. To dust something can mean either one. Things fall apart, the centre cannot hold; mere anarchy is loosed upon the English language.

You children need to treat yourselves to the seminal 1995 French film The City of Lost Children (La cité des enfants perdus). It's sci-fi, it's goth, it's cyberpunk and steampunk at the same time. It has Ron Perlman, an American who does not speak French, in a lead role. It's amazing, and there's even an English dub out there if you absolutely can't handle subtitles. GO GET YOUR LIFE RIGHT.

Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?

My roommate and I watched all of Leverage twice through during the first two years of the pandemic. Then we watched The Librarians, and I kept forgetting Jacob's name and calling him "Smart Eliot."
Then we watched Almost Paradise, which of course stars Christian Kane as "Dad Eliot."
Gave in and started watching Librarians. I'm barely half in the first episode and El- I'm sorry, Jacob Stone feels like a grift persona Leverage Inc will cook up as a cover. I keep waiting for El- pardon, Jacob and Flynn to start talking through the comms randomly

I crossed paths with a neighbor walking her dog the other day, and the dog plopped down to wait for me to come pet him so I obliged. She said, "This is Arnold and he isn't spoiled at all." I replied very solemnly, "Of course not -- he only gets exactly what he deserves." Then we had a little chuckle.
Love being fun and silly with strangers… Today at the farmers market the hummus guy saw my bag and was like “We’re filling that up right??” and I was like Twist my arm!! and we both hooted. Then at the end he was like “By the way the baklava is only half sliced so make sure to slice before serving… that is, if you’re going to share!!” and I was like “Oh I wouldn’t count on that!! 😉😉” and we shared another hearty laugh. I love playing in this space with you

My number one used to be "long-suffering girl secretary to an embittered private detective with a heart of gold," but this is less appealing post-40.
careers to consider when I finish uni:
girl in 1960s Paris with winged eyeliner and a fringe who sits in cafes and bars and drinks sherry
WWII war nurse
muse for a late 19th century artist
archaeologist in the 30s
suffragette
background character in a Wodehouse story
incorporeal sense of vague dissatisfaction
hmm

I need a gentile to explain why Lord Peter Wimsey mistakes an Anglican church (the denomination he was raised in) for a Catholic one in Unnatural Death. Aren't there uh... differences? My British history is not great but I feel like there being a difference was something people got murdered over in the past.
