thinking about aus for ocs is so funny. like i already put this guy in a situation but what if i put them in another totally different one

#when i was a kid/teenager writing was mainly a way for me to process new things i learned so that was happening a lot #but! they usually stuck to their niche (fantasy's fantasy etc) lol so a lot of the times i wasn't so much writing aus as i was constantly #retconning things #not adding to the lore. definitely retconning #i did also have a couple characters who were fine for anything i called those everything stories #i miss writing #i should write more again

Regarding thistle's age thing, it's never stated, but it's implied in the bible (the new one) that he's younger than the elf equivalent of 16 in present times. so 15 and under (in elf years) i suppose. and regarding chilchuck, if we assume the age of maturity for halffoots to be the same as the one for humans and elves then he'd be 14~15 when he got married and had his first two kids. considering his wife was a childhood friend of his (and presuming the math is right) the pipeline here might have been something like childhood sweethearts -> accidental pregnancy -> shotgun wedding lol (the pregnancy length, using the same conversion rates would leave us with a 7~ nearly 8 months long halffoot pregnancy, but that's all assuming their pregnancy would be equivalent to that of a human)

Interesting about Thistle's age, thank you! I've come to about the same conclusions vis-à-vis Chilchuck's age and fatherhood since making that first post. Everything about his backstory is so funny in such a lowkey, mundane way lol.

It's even worse, he is 28, turning 29 that year. He possibly had kids at 12. The oldest daughters are 16. Baby dad.

Yeah, that was what the "(about to be)" was for haha. I have checked in the Adventurer's Bible since making that post, which states that he had his first two daughters at 13, which means they might be twins or have a very minor age gap, and it also means that he was about a relative 15-17 when they were born, I think. Babies having babies lol.

Maybe halffoot pregnancies are shorter than the average normal human's, I don't know. (It's not impossible to have two kids in a year either way, this would just be a little bit easier on the body if they're not twins lol.)

this has come up bc i referred to him as a 1000 year old child (to clarify, not an actual child, i always thought he's at least an older teenager) and the person i was talking to was like "he's not a child, though", which they're definitely right about, i had some events in the wrong order and filed wrongly, but i do now very much wonder how old he actually is. somewhere between 16 and 21, i'd guess?
