Ich glaube jeder kennt es, wenn wir Negativität von anderen aufsaugen ohne sie wirklich verarbeitet zu haben. Wir wollen helfen, ein offenes Ohr haben, aber werden auch selbst verletzt; durch Worte und Emotionen die dadurch erweckt werden. Wir hören der anderen Person zu, aber im Anschluss sind wir allein mit dem Gesagtem und unseren Emotionen, versuchen uns von ihnen abzulenken oder kommen ins Grübeln. Was fehlt ist ein Werkzeug um das Gesagte der Person, die wir lieben und der wir helfen wollen, für uns selbst zu verarbeiten. Manche Menschen schreiben ein Tagebuch, oder sprechen mit Freunden über das was sie belastet. Chester tut das in dem Song denke ich mal nicht. Stattdessen bleibt das Negative in ihm. Belastende Dinge die wir von unseren Liebsten gesagt bekommen , bleiben manchmal förmlich an uns kleben. Mal sind es einzelne Worte, oder Särze, die wir übernehmen, mal ganze Verhaltens- oder Denkweisen. Wir durchleben dann den Schmerz der anderen Person immer wieder ein kleines Sttück. Wir sehen die Welt ein Stück weit durch die Augen der anderen Person. Was uns dann aber fehlt ist eine anderer Blickwinkel. Unseren Blickwinkel haben wir ein bisschen durch den Blickwinkel der geliebten Person ersetzt. Eigentlich wollten wir helfen, aber jetzt teilen wir gegenseitig unseren Schmerz. Das heißt der geliebten Person geht es jetzt vielleicht ein bisschen besser, aber uns geht es jetzt schlechter. Wir fühlen uns vielleicht ängstlich, wütend, oder traurig. Vielleich verstehen wir gar nicht, wieso die andere Person jetzt sogar bessere Laune haben kann als wir. Was uns vielleicht hilft, ist ein neuer Blickwinkel. Ein Blickwinkel eines Freundes zum Beispiel, der das Gesagte der geliebten Person anders sieht als wir. Wenn wir ihm von dem Gespräch mit der geliebten Person erzählen, dann lassen wir diese Worte ein Stückchen los. Chester empfindet es als würden der Schmerz seiner geliebten Person ein Teil von ihm. Wenn wir über solche belastenden Erfahrungen wie Chester sie beschreibt, mit anderen reden, werden sie vielleicht weniger ein Teil von unns. Wir nehmen sie aus unserem Herzen und unserem Kopf und teilen sie mit einem Freund. Vielleicht fühlt es sich falsch an und wir fühlen uns als würden wir unsere geliebte Person betrügen, vielleicht denken wir auch wir würden das Ganze irgendwie falsch erzählen, oder unsere geliebte Person dabei schlecht machen. Diese ganzen Gedanlen und Gefühle haben aber meines Wissens nach viele Menschen. Zweifel sind normal. Trotzdem dürfen wir mit Freunden über belastende SItuationen reden. Das kostet aber Miut, das weiß ich und danach fühlen wir uns vielleicht als hätten wir unsere geliebte Person betrogen, aber wir haben uns von ihrem Schmerz ein bisschen gelöst und können fühlen uns vielleicht wieder ien bisschen mehr wie wir selbst. Und wir haben jetzt einen Freund, der weiß wie es uns geht und das ist super, auch wenn es sich in dem Moment nicht so anfühlt. Wir denken vielleicht sogar, dass wir über Menschen, die wir lieben gar nicht mit unseren Freunden sprechen können und wollen das sogar auch gar nicht. Wir fühlen uns der geliebten Person dann vielleicht näher und verbundener, aber wir leiden ja. Chester sagt, dass am Ende er seine geliebte Person gehen lässt, und sie trotzdem immer ein Teil von ihm bleibt. Wenn wir den Schmerz einer geliebten Person gehen lassen, heißt das nicht, dass wir die Person nicht lieben. Sogar wenn wir die Person ganzu gehen lassen müssen, heißt das nicht, dass wir die Person nicht lieben.

i am back (maybe)

ich versuche seit ein paar tagen mehr zeit in der realität, weder in meinen Tagträumen, noch vor geräten zu verbringen und es ist trist aber manchmal ergibt sich daraus auch etwas schönes. etwas ironisch dass ausgerechnet das mein erster post seit langem ist. vielleicht ist mensch, wenn er auf sich und das was unmittelbar um ihn ist zurückgeworfen ist, eher bereit sich auszuschreien, als wenns sie sich in vielen kleinen geschichten verliert. vielleicht hat mir mein macbook auch gerade nur angezeigt, dass mein tumblr passwort kompromittiert wurde und ich bin deshalb hier. vielleicht sind auch zwei dinge gleichzeitig wahr

Black washing does not exist and here’s why

You might be asking yourself, why do we have a problem with This:

They are the same thing, right?

Wellll…Not at all.

Let me get into detail of why you cannot Blackwash a character

POC DO NOT GET THE SAME MEDIA REPRESENTATION LIKE WHITES DO

It’s no lie that for centuries whiteness has always been promoted both constantly and positively. The first thing you see when you turn on the TV is white. Us minorities don’t get the same representation as white people. We are not constantly shown on TV. Whiteness is promoted on TV, movies, magazines, Billboards, toys, and Etc. Because we are so deprived of any representation when we finally see ourselves being represented in the media we are happy to see ourselves being normalized. To take a character that is a person of color and white wash them is completely selfish when the majority of TV shows already represent white people. The difference between black washing and white washing is that white people only see black washing as a white character turning black while us black people see whitewashing as representation being taken away from us. Throughout history black people have always been either white washed or represented negatively just look at one example, BLACK FACE! During the error were blackface was acceptable we were represented as lazy, arrogant, greedy, disgusting, and ugly. Black face was used to make a joke out of black people. Just look at the difference between the representation of black people back then:

See the difference? White people are represented as normal pure and Superior while black people are represented negatively. This is why representation matters so much to us. When we are deprived of good representation in the media for so many years and we finally that a character representing us it’s no surprise that we would get mad when we see a character whitewashed. Black people have been promoted on TV either negatively or either when we are white washed. This is why you cannot blackwash a white character because it’s simply does not take away any white representation. When you look at a white character being turned black it barely has an effect on you guys because 99% of TV shows consists of mostly White characters. White people don’t know the feeling of growing up thinking that your race is ugly because all you see on TV is white. White people don’t grow up hating their natural straight European hair texture. White people don’t grow up wanting to be black to the point of hating their own race. Blackwashing will exist as soon as I see white people dealing with the same self hatred like black people do. Until then, BLACKWASHING DOES NOT EXIST.

films with gay black main characters

Blackbird - (2014, dir. Patrick-Ian Polk) Drama adpatation of the novel by Larry Duplechan. It follows Randy, a devoutely Baptist gay teenager struggling with his sexuality and religion.

Moonlight - (2016, dir. Barry Jenkins) coming of age drama film telling the life of Chiron, a young black man growing up in Miami, told in three stages; his youth, adolescence, and early adult life. It explores his sexuality, identity, and the ramifications of the abuse he endured growing up. Janelle Monae made her film debut in this and it also became both the first film with an all black cast & the first lgbt film to win the oscar for best picture.

Naz & Maalik - (2015, dir. Jay Dockendorf) drama film following two closeted muslim teenage boys in Brooklyn during one summer afternoon as their secretive (read: closeted gay) behavior sets a FBI agent on their trail. After both boys give her two different excuses for their behavior, they worry about being outed to their families.

Noah’s Arc: Jumping the broom - (2008, dir. Patrick-Ian Polk) Comedy based off the tv series “Noah’s Arc” follows Noah and Wade as they invite their friends along for an insane weekend before they marry at Martha’s Vineyard.

Pariah - (2011, dir. Dee Rees) art drama film telling the story of Alike, a 17 year old black girl as she slowly but surely comes to terms with being a butch lesbian while her parents relationship is falling apart. As her mother begins to grow suspicious about her daughter’s sexuality, she forces Alike into feminine clothing and pushes her to make friends with a respectable young girl from her church.

Rafiki - (2018, dir. Wanuri Kahiu) Kenyan romantic drama film centering on two Kenyan lesbian teenagers, Ziki and Kena. It explores their blossoming love and friendship as they face poltical and familial pressure to follow a path of life they arent really suited for. The film has mostly been premiering in festivals and isnt available for streaming in the US/UK yet but once its out this is a very important, groundbreaking film that we all need to be supporting!

Set it Off - (1996, dir. F. Gary Gray) Crime action film about four close friends who decide to rob a bank for different reasons, but all with the goal to better life for themselves and the ones they love. The character Queen Latifah plays is a butch lesbian! 

The Happy Sad - (2013, dir. Rodney Evans) Drama film following the lives of two very different couples in New York City. The first, two gay black men who’ve been together for awhile and decided to try to turn their relationship into an open one. The second, a het white couple who decide to take a break and end up experimenting with same-sex sexual encounters. 

The Skinny - (2012, dir. Patrick-Ian Polk) Rom-com telling the story of five Brown University classmates as they reunite in NYC for gay pride weekend. Four are gay men, and one is a lesbian woman. Magnus is a medical student in a happy relationship with his boyfriend, Langston is a Yale PhD student, Sebastian just came back from a year in Paris, Kyle is uh…slutty, and Joey’s witty as hell. 

The Wound - (2017, dir. John Trengove) Alternatively titled Inxeba, The Wound is a South African drama film following the secret relationship between two men during the Xhosa ritual of Ulwaluko, an initiation into manhood.
