in a week is THE hozier song not because of super fancy lyricism or music but because of the bits and pieces of the story we have.
it's feral. these lovers are covered in bitemarks, though not all of them are from insects (a thousand teeth, and yours among them I know) so clearly they got some before perishing because their 'hunger's appeased' before their hearts stop. there's an air of mystery here. who are these lovers? why are they here? why are they dying and what led them to this occasion? through the text we can infer it as suicide but we're never allowed the privilege of actually knowing. maybe they were destined to die, maybe they were killed but that doesn't MATTER! they're going cold, their corpses are rotting hand in hand and that's all you're allowed to know.
it's beautiful too. not the rotting part. the song describes insects and foxes eating their flesh, implies that their bodies are only found when the weather gets hot and the smell is able to be detected. they're found 'in a week' as the title of the song suggests so they're actively decomposing but all you can think about is how these corpses were once people that loved each other and how that love has persevered. they've become part of the earth, they've died and moved on but their affection to each other still lingers

Can we talk about the weird misogyny that’s in the idea that T makes trans men ugly.
The T making trans guys ugly idea always is joined with ‘women are destroying their beautiful feminine bodies to become men.’ Shit.
It’s just ‘a women’s (or people that society deems as women.) worth is connected to how pleasing/attractive they are to cishet men.’ idea.
Trans guys becoming masculine is seen as us losing value and worth as a person because we are no longer attractive to cishet men.

Blades In The Dark idea: The currency of your criminal underworld is abstract. A Coin is usually worth the same amount to anyone - though it may need to be converted from artwork to letters of credit, or from gold bars to a list of double agents. In this particular instance, your payoff for the latest daring score is a coupon for “buy 10 assassinations, get one free” with 9 stamps on it already. It’s worth four Coin, simply because of the legendary assassin who will honor this deal.

Always keep mint on your windowsill in August, to ensure that buzzing flies will stay outside, where they belong. Don't think the summer is over, even when roses droop and turn brown and the stars shift position in the sky. Never presume August is a safe or reliable time of the year.
