FAQ (below the cut)
What is the Losers Bingo? The Losers Bingo is a challenge issued to lovers of The Losers movie or comics. Participants will receive a 3 x 3 bingo card with prompts they can then use to create fanworks.
How do I sign up? A link to the sign-up form will be posted on September 15th, and it will be permanently posted on the blog between September 15th and December 1st, 2019.
How long does it run? The final posting deadline is March 1st, 2020.
What kind of media is allowed? The event was mostly thought out with fanfics in mind, but we are happy to include any other kind of fanwork. If you’d like to participate with anything other than fanfics, please fill out the sign-up form and include your preferred media at the bottom so that we can get back to you with appropriate requirements and prompts.
What is the word minimum for writing? Fic must be at least 2 500 words. There is no maximum - write until your heart is content, but note that your story should be finished and posted in full by the time we wrap up the event!
I don’t want to over-commit. Is blacking out the entire card a requirement? Not at all! Do as many or as few squares as you want! All we ask is that you commit to at least one piece in the spirit of the bingo.
How are prompts decided? Prompts are randomly generated based on a pre-made list with a higher weight given to your responses to the sign-up questionnaire.
Will I have a chance to exchange any or all of my card? You will have an opportunity to exchange up to two of your prompts by the December 1st sign-up deadline. You just have to email us and let us know.
Can I do more if I finish my entire card? Sure! If you finish your bingo card before the deadline, you may ask for another one. The same rules will apply.
Where can we find info and news about the Bingo? We are on Tumblr at losersbingo.tumblr.com and on Twitter with the hashtag #losersbingo. You can also contact us through our email [email protected]
This bingo seems rather general. What exactly will my prompts look like?
We are incorporating different themes in the hopes of getting participants to explore various ideas. As such, each participant will receive a 3 x 3 bingo card with 8 prompts. Our prompts are divided into 3 categories (trope, angst and kink) and the card is divided into 3 prompts from 2 of the categories each, and 2 prompts from the third based on your choice. The middle square will be author’s choice, where you can write anything you want. The sign-up form will let you provide as much info as possible so we can make the best possible card for you.
Will there be a collection on AO3? Yes. A Losers Bingo collection will be available on AO3; the name and collection tag will be announced on the blog after we open sign-ups. Additionally, we will be making a masterpost on our blog once the event is wrapped up, just so it can be reblogged.
I’m excited! When can I start on my bingo card? You can start as soon as you receive your card! Posting is open during the entire duration of the event, so you can just post your works as soon as they’re done too.
Are AUs allowed? What about crossovers? Absolutely! You don’t have to stick to canon. Create whatever speaks to you, as long as it features characters from the Losers and focuses on the prompt.
Can another creator collaborate with me? Of course! We welcome joint efforts. This is intended to be fun, so if that’s your idea of fun, the more the merrier! We just ask that you let us know about any collabs before the end of the event so that we can credit everyone involved in our masterpost.
Are any ships allowed? Yes! You can create works focused on any romantic or platonic relationship. In addition, there is to be no ship-shaming or kink-shaming allowed. Many of the prompts are, however, created with Jensen and/or Cougar specifically in mind, since they are the majority of the characters written about in this fandom. You can always switch out specific prompts, of course.
Are any themes (such as major archive warnings) forbidden? No. Since this is a challenge for 18+ only, you may write about anything you want. It is, however, paramount that you appropriately tag your work. If your work is inappropriately tagged, you will receive one warning and an opportunity to fix the problem before the work is removed from the collection. If you’re having any issues with tagging your work, let us know and we’d be happy to help.
What if I don’t understand a kink or theme on my card? You can always feel free to reach out to us (or others in the community) and ask. And remember, you can trade in two prompts for free if you don’t know anything about your prompt or are uncomfortable with them.
What if I’m not comfortable with kink in general? To make the event comfortable for everyone, we kept the kink prompts as mild as possible so if you’re okay with writing sexual content, we encourage everyone to fill out the questionnaire in the sign-up form and let us create a card based on that. This will allow everyone to tell just how kinky or not kinky they want their card to be. If you don’t like the kink squares you get, you can let us know and we’ll swap them out.
Do I need a beta? No. We will not be requiring betas for this challenge. You may use one if you desire, and we can point you in the direction of someone who can beta your fic if you need one.
Can I kill two squares with one story? We want to limit this event as little as possible, so we are okay with using two prompts for one story. However, to keep things fair, we’d like to add some guidelines for writing one fill for two prompts:
The minimum requirement per prompt is 2 500 words which means a single story about two prompts should be at least 5 000 words long with equal focus on both prompts
If you’d like to write a chaptered story with one prompt per chapter, the same minimum requirement applies - your chapters should be at least 2 500 words long
If we forgot to cover anything, don’t hesitate to email us or send an ask/DM through Tumblr!
