Gonna say it's weird to me when people Assume Terry must be deeply traumatized or been rejected/abandoned by his home bc he never ever says that but it's become a weird and uncomfortable fandom standard
Like ppl in the wild talking about Terry being abused or rejected by his home and I'm like WHAT
"Growing up, they thought I was a doe but I knew I was a buck" Is just. Coming out. Paraphrased but come on. Like hey I looked like x but knew I was x. That's all he said
He talks about being from a village in the forest and it isn't hinted that he can't go home. He's like well I'd show you on a map but it's Uncharted lol
Like it frustrates me a bit that trans=Trauma by default to a lot of ppl when tdp hasn't shown any in universe homophobia or transphobia tbh. Like it certainly Can (hello my own life) but ppl making the leap and saying it's canon when it just isn't is. Not correct. And it changes the tone of Terry traveling with Claudia to be like "oh he feels forced to" when frankly it just seems like he loves Claudia and could leave if he wanted but doesn't want to
Can we please just. Not insert violent transphobia where it actually isn't

Counting candles in this eternal night
Brief thoughts on Sol Regem, Aaravos, and what it might be like to be ghosted by the stars.
When Karim and Pharos first visit Sol Regem in Karim's ill-advised plan of reinstating him as King of the Dragons, they find the former sun king in a cave, enveloped in darkness and shadow.
With centuries of being miserable, lonely, and depressed, Sol Regem cynically lists out the remnants of his greatness - his tattered wings, his bedsores, his inability to act. At one point, he lowers his face to Karim, showing him the mask of melted flesh around his eyes, the work of "evil" magic.
In the flashback in 03x01, after Sol Regem is hit by Ziard's (swoon) fire, we see a very, shall we say, interesting series of events.
Sol Regem flies up into the sky, aligning directly with the sun - a star - racing toward its golden light.
Tumblr media
He falls, plunges straight toward twinkling purple water.
Tumblr media
He sinks into the depths, the flames of the spell finally extinguishing around his eyes. When he reemerges, Sol Regem will discover his sight is gone.
Tumblr media
It's all so...Aaravos-coded.
Tumblr media
"The sun will never rise again for me," Sol Regem tells Karim back in the cave. Sol Regem knows that his former glory will never be restored, implies that the situation is more than acquired blindness.
But it is also a literal truth - Sol Regem will never physically see an actual sunrise again.
So if the Starfolk were to ghost you, deny you their faces, does the night sky become a black pit, devoid of any light?
And what about in the day? What happens when the sun hides her face from you, and only you?
Tumblr media
Is the concept of "day" meaningless to you now? Do you count candles long before you become imprisoned?
And when you get the chance, do you share the sun's gift with her children, so that they may know the depth of her love like you do?

Rayla gasped as she fell against him and all of a sudden, Callum’s body was his own.
“Rayla!” he cried out, dropping the blade and grabbing her by the shoulders.
The sword didn’t fall though, spearing her through the abdomen. Buried to the hilt.
She collapsed, knees giving way and a pained cry escaping her lips as he caught her around the waist and they both fell to the ground.
“No, no, no! Rayla!” His hands shook as they hovered over the handle, mind blank as he tried desperately to think of what to do. Ripping off his scarf with one hand, he pressed it to her abdomen, desperately trying to staunch the flow of blood.
“Callum,” her voice was more of a gasp as she reached for his hand.

i've said this before but the whole point of TDP's thing is that de-personalizing other creatures and people just because you're super duper extra convinced that they're not a person or that their personhood doesn't matter is bad. if you depersonalize other people you are doing the wrong thing and if you do it enough you will literally turn yourself and others into monsters. the good guys recognize other people's personhood even when it's hard or inconvenient for them. dark magic is uniquely bad because it, more than anything else and more than any other form of magic, encourages you to depersonalize other people for your own benefit. that's it.

Me, 100%
“I don’t know what living a balanced life feels like. When I am sad, I don’t cry, I pour. When I am happy, I don’t smile, I glow. When I am angry, I don’t yell, I burn. The good thing about feeling in extremes, is when I love, I give them wings. But perhaps that isn’t such a good thing, cause they always tend to leave and you should see me, when my heart is broken. I don’t grieve, I shatter.”

Lasair the Insidious (a Katolis Tale) / Flowers of Elarion (a Moonshadow tale)
Open doors are an invitation to Lasair, the elven thief who takes what you hold most precious—a shiny coin on your table, a young lamb in the barn, a wedding dress draped over a chair—and leaves cold ashes in its place. Some say a young child in search of a midnight cup of water saw Lasair leave a beautiful flower with a soothing scent, but it was gone in the morning…. Lasair left beautiful blooms called flowers of Elarion, rare and precious blossoms that glow with soft light and have a scent that can soothe the most ragged spirit. While Lasair hoped the trade would lay the grounds for friendship with humans—a fair exchange of beloved for beloved—they never saw the precious blossoms fade and turn to cold ashes when exposed to the dawn. They never learned their gift was perceived as a curse, not a trade…
