So I know us practitioners are already hoarding jars but I wanted to suggest something else to keep after you finish using it: skincare dropper bottles.
Once you sterilise it it can be great for homemade spell oils, perfumes or even just something like moon water

Reblogging this now that it's getting warmer- remember to wear sun cream/sunscreen! Even if you're not incorporating it into your magic, still make sure to put it on before you leave the house
Skincare and Magic:
I'm finally doing another one of these posts, this time I'm focusing on skincare. Disclaimer that I am not a dermatologist or an expert in skincare at all, I just enjoy it as a part of my everyday ritual magic. Skincare is a very personal thing because your skin is unique to you, I'm not recommending products this is more around the concept of using skincare for magic. With that being said, on with the post:
Cleansers:
Wash off Cleansers can be amazing as a way to wash away negativity, give yourself a fresh start and really make yourself feel new.
- you can draw sigils or runes on your skin as you cleanse, washing away negativity.
- Cleansing balms and oils, anything you don't wash off with water, are much better at not only gently cleansing your skin but also a much more calming energy than something like a water based foam or gel cleanser.
Serums:
Next, if you're doing your normal routine, comes serums. These sink into your skin and have all kinds of different properties. (I personally use a niacinamide and zinc serum to reduce acne and redness).
- look into what each serum does, as this will really determine how it's used. For example, niacinamide is a chemical exfoliant, so i use it to banish negativity and give myself a refresh. Something like hyaluronic acid, however, is better at caring for your skin and adding in some positivity, and less about exfoliation.
- I'm not a big fan of anti-aging products, because we all age and I don't think it's something to be afraid of. But if you use something like retinol it can be useful for renewal spells and suchlike.
Moisturisers:
Moisturisers are a great way to be kind to yourself, not only physically but spiritually. Take a moment to gently apply it, really feeling your skin and appreciating it and yourself. I use moisturisers primarily as a form of quiet mindfulness.
- you can also draw sigils on your face and body with moisturisers to add to any spell or ritual you are currently working on. I combine mine with a magical oil (and my emollient cream because I have psoriasis) to add protection after a shower.
Sun cream:
Even if you're not big into skin care, this is an easy one to do. Sum cream literally protects you from damaging UV rays, and so it isn't much of a stretch to link it to protection spells. Since you apply this last, it acts as a barrier between you and negativity, anything harmful you might encounter. Draw a banishing sigil with it to enhance this, or embrace the sun angle and use it as a vehicle to absorb the positive energies of the sun without damaging your skin.
Face masks:
There are so many different types of face masks, but I will list a few examples here
- Clay masks (unsurprisingly) help strengthen your connection to the earth and grounding energies.
- Charcoal masks are great for protection, its basically black salt but for your face.
- Peeling masks come in so many different forms it's impossible to say what they all might do, but the general idea is all about renewal. Shedding that layer of dead skin literally and metaphorically.
Don't use face masks too often as most of them have ingredients that will be harsh on your skin if used too regularly. Once a week or every two weeks is best. They are a great addition to a moon ritual or bath (though some masks won't dry while you're in the bath due to the humidity).

prayers don't have to be perfect by the way.
I pray to the gods in the middle of my classes, my shifts at work, and in the shower.
I pray waiting at the bus stop.
I pray looking for something I lost.
I'm not always the best at consistently praying and leaving offerings at my altar. most of my worship is quick prayers on the go and devotional acts.
that's ok. I'm trying and the gods don't hate me or anything.
they don't hate you either. practice in a way that fits into your life and your needs. that's enough I think.

Recently I've been doing a deep dive into red flags that one may run into while in occult spaces. It's best to be educated so that in the instance you come across one of these red flags, you know when take the information you're receiving with a grain of salt. The following is a list of some red flags I've come across in my time as a Pagan. Some are pretty obvious, others not so much.
• Claiming St. Peter's cross is Satanic, or that Ankh is Christian
• Thelema, Aleister Crowley, or Magic with a K
• "Qabala" rather than actual Kabbalah
• Talking about Atlantis as if it's real
• Saying "real Satanists" don't believe in Satan or refusing to acknowledge the difference between theist and non-theist Satanists
•Claiming a crystal, incense, oil, herb or whatever else can be used in place of medicine
• The use of lightning bolt symbols, the Black Sun, etc
• Saying aliens built the Egyptian pyramids or that humans bred with aliens
• Saying the Illuminati controls everything or talks of a "New World Order"
• Weird fear-mongering or out-there conspiracies about Freemasonry
• Vaguely alluding to an all-powerful group that's only ever referred to as "the elites" or "they"
• Doing closed practices they aren't apart of
• Refusing to cite sources, or if they do cite sources, it's a TikTok or something
• Referring to ANYTHING the Nazis did
• Tribal tattoos from a tribe one isn't apart of
• Claiming they'll provide you forbidden knowledge or that if you follow their way of life you'll reach God or whatever
• Any mention of Aryans or some superior race
• Joy of Satan or The Order of Nine Angels
• Claiming "you were meant to see this video!" when it's a video that is showed to hundreds (or thousands) of people based on an algorithm
• Gatekeeping practices, worship, tools, etc, from a sex. IE, "only women can do this spell!"
• Recommending any work from scammers (ex: Joe Dispenza)
• Discouraging learning the history of a practice
• Claiming deities from different pantheons are the exact same. (Ex: Aphrodite and Venus)
• Using AI in place of real art, imagery, people, etc. (Seriously, I've seen shops on Etsy try to sell me tarot readings with a photo of an AI generated old lady claiming to do the readings, marketing it as if it's a real person.)
If you have ANYTHING else to add, please feel free to do so.

Update: he dumped me
There's something uniquely heart wrenching about losing a spell you've had for years. Today I lost a hand fasting ribbon me and my partner made at the start of our relationship, over three years ago now. Perhaps it's because you pour so much energy into it, or perhaps its because I'm autistic and I get unreasonably attached to certain objects but it feels like something is missing from *me*. And I left it on a train somewhere and I can't get it back.

"There's no wildlife here. The land is barren and stripped from farming chemicals"
I just saw two blue herons fly super low over our house, which means they've been fishing in the creek behind us, which means there's fish there. Which means there's bugs to feed the fish and algae to feed the bugs, which means the water and soil is worth something damnit.
Yes, I'm sorry the suburb isn't the grand, sweeping swath of uninhabited land that you so desperately crave but would learn to loathe, but saying that the land here is barren and that there's no wildlife here and that there's nothing to salvage- that's a You problem. Nature might be struggling, but against all odds it is at least trying.
