Princess Diana shaking the hand of an AIDS victim with no gloves on, a move that would work to reduce AIDS stigma and help prove that AIDS is not spread by skin to skin contact. 1991, Toronto, Canada.

Rest in peace, Stanley Donen (April 13, 1924 – February 21, 2019), seen here in 1958 directing Indiscreet, which starred Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. He directed or co-directed some of Hollywood’s most beloved musicals - On The Town, Singin’ in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Funny Face, The Pajama Game - as well as cherished romantic comedies like Indiscreet, Charade and Two for the Road.
“As an artist, I aspire to be as remarkable as Leonardo da Vinci. To be fantastic, astonishing, one of a kind. I will never get there. He’s the one who stopped time. I just did ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’ It’s pretty good, yes. It’s better than most, I know. But it still leaves you reaching up.”
