Before I loved Scream, Beetlejuice was one of my favorite fandoms. Here's a few behind the scenes pics with the new official shots from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
The behind the scenes phots were released on the Internet 8 months ago. Anyone who's been keeping up with the production knows this.
Who is Astrid marrying? Is it a dream sequence? Is Rory an Otho-type of character??

“The sudden arrival of a blacked-out Mercedes brings everyone to a standstill. Even the horses freeze. The side door opens, Johnny Depp steps out with a Bill Clinton mask covering his head and brandishes a giant water pistol at the crew. Everyone scatters, laughing. A second later, Depp shimmies up a wobbly ladder to the director’s hideaway on the roof of Somerset House and leaves the crew to get on with setting up.”  - Vogue UK Edition January 2000

Every time Goodbye Earl by The Chicks comes on my playlist I think to myself "Man, this song shaped some of my morality."

Inspired by a scene from the Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian script by Johnathan Gems. Yes, I’m a Beetlejuice nerd. I found the script and read it.
After the first movie only featuring BJ a few times, it was interesting to learn the would-be sequel had planned a lot of scenes with him just being…well, himself. Some of them were kind of fun, like this scene where he just hypnotizes a woman into giving him free cheeseburgers.
Actually, a lot of the scenes felt like they could’ve been used in the cartoon. Maybe they were… (???).

Imagine growing up and hearing about the next town over where a man mysteriously “disappeared” and how the local cops think his ex-wife murdered him but they have no proof. Sure, there’s the medical records and anecdotes of the bruises, not to mention how he broke her restraining order after the divorce and she wound up in intensive care. There’s definitely probable cause, but she wouldn’t hurt a fly. She struggled with animal care when she was a member of the FFA in high school.
The sheriff says there’s no proof he was even hurt, looks like he just up and left town. Maybe finally got some sense knocked into his head. Maybe got a better job. As far as the sheriff is concerned, he and his staff have that much less work with Earl no longer in town. Less neighbor complaints, too.
Imagine hearing the gossip mongers suspect the sheriff’s niece had a hand in it. She was the ex-wife’s best friend in high school. But she stays in town. All her kin are here and the sheriff’s niece lives out past Atlanta and hardly comes back. Most shake their heads. Something ain’t right, they think, but nothing adds up, neither.
Kids turn it into a ghost story to scare their younger siblings. The tale gets twisted and warped into little more than a local bogeyman. You and Este frighten her sister with tales of Earl when you sleep over. This isn’t real, you both console her. There is no Earl.
Even after school, you and Este stay in touch. You meet up, exchange miseries of dating and work life. She meets someone and you’re her bridesmaid. She confides in you all the little joys of newlywed life and the hiccups that are funny in hindsight. Slowly, though, she talks less and less of him and you don’t think much of it until after dinner in the Olive Garden parking lot she follows you to your car and confides she thinks he’s having an affair. You both sit in the car and talk and cry and promise you’ll help her through this and to call you if anything happens or if she needs a place to crash.
You hear no more from Este and hope, perhaps, she was mistaken or misread little actions at home. Until Este doesn’t show up the next time. And she isn’t at work and she isn’t at home.
Then you hear about the other woman moving into Este’s house. And you remember those old ghost stories and wonder if your momma’s cousin is still friends with Mary Ann and whether you can still borrow your uncle’s boat on the weekends like you did during summer vacation all those years ago.
