in general w scott. i think the ppl he attracts to him tend to be people who like. believe themselves to be monsters and see how hard scott is trying and how much he cares about doing the right thing. and tend to pin all their hopes for salvation onto him. like i think jean and emma and logan all believe that if they follow scott, and if they help him achieve his goals then they'll achieve some sort of partial redemption by association. and i think thats also partly why maddy and scott didnt work because maddy was not looking for redemption from scott, and she was not willing to forgive as many of his sins. she couldnt just reach into his mind and divine his intentions and ascribe some sort of perfect morality onto all his actions

X-Men #138 (Claremont & Byrne, Oct 1980). Scott reflects on the entire story of the X-Men during Jean鈥檚 funeral. Bobby finally resurfaces, though he doesn鈥檛 say anything.

X-Men Blue: Origins #1 (2023) MARVEL
I know some comic book readers are upset to learn Mystique and Destiny are Nightcrawler鈥檚 biological parents, but personally, I think that it is fantastic. When I learned of Chris Claremont鈥檚 idea to make the couple Kurt鈥檚 parent years ago, I thought it was strange, cool, and would NEVER be allowed at Marvel Comics. So as a queer kid disappointed that this revelation was scrapped in favor of making Azazel Kurt鈥檚 father, I found this retcon especially delightful. Is it convoluted? Yes. Is it awesome? Also yes. Sorry, not sorry, Internet trolls. This type of inclusivity and acceptance are exactly what I鈥檝e loved about X-Men for decades. Kudos to Si Spurrier for making it canon. 馃憦

Esme: Okay, sure, I caused Sophie's death, shot mom, got hooked on drugs, and teamed up with Magneto (who wasn't actually Magneto) to commit mass murder, but Phoebe dyed her hair to look like Jean Grey so who's the real traitor here. Celeste: She makes a good point. Phoebe: Shut up, Celeste!

I鈥檝e seen people use Rogue鈥檚 dance with Magneto as a reason to hate on her so I鈥檓 gonna put out my opinion on that scene.
Did she break Gambit鈥檚 heart?
Yes, she definitely did but remember that the first boyfriend she had almost died from kissing her so her fears are not irrational.
I would also go on to say that she probably didn鈥檛 believe Gambit when he says that they don鈥檛 need to be physical considering how he was with other women.
Now for the dance scene, I believe that she was enjoying being able to touch someone and was trying to convince herself that she made the right decision. At one point, Rogue glances to her side while dancing and I would guess that鈥檚 a sign that she was second-guessing her decision.
Finally, she and magneto kissed which made her realize that she did not love him. Being physical with someone was not important and that she loved Gambit.
TLDR: Rogue was enjoying touching someone then realizes she loves Gambit, despite not being able to touch him

the absolute highest of heights was achieved in telenovela x-drama though. before it all went to heartbreak crush city, the rogneto, romy, jott, and madelyott drama was top tier. the scandal. the drama. the relationship highs and lows. the absolute killer lines we got:
"there is no love without sin."
"you light up everything with your touch, but never me."
"do you love me or am I just a lovely memory?"
"you just forgot the rules for a sec."
"that wasn't loving there, it's ego."
"some things are deeper than skin."

This is why diversity among the X-Men is so important. Because it gives lines like this layers.
This isn't just a mutant talking to a mutant. It's a Black woman talking to a Native man.
