Watching WWF in 2000 (Heat & PPVā€™s)
Hey there guys & girls,
Iā€™m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastimeĀ Professional Wrestling.
Today I thought Iā€™d discuss my earliest memories of watching professional wrestling. In particular WWF Heat throughout the year 2000. In the UK, RAW is WAR and SmackDown were on Sky television, a satellite service my parents didnā€™t pay for as it was expensive for the time. Thankfully Channel 4, a free to watch channel on UK television would air WWF Sunday Night Heat every Sunday afternoon after Football Italia would finish. Later on, Channel 4 would air Heat during the early hours of Monday morning, thankfully my dad would record these episodes for me. Iā€™d get up early before school on Monday mornings, turn the television and VCR on and check out the episode before school.
Tumblr media
You might think ā€˜poor Andy, only getting to watch Heat back thenā€™ well, yes and noā€¦ Heat would often feature Edge & Christian, The Hardys (With Lita), The Dudleyz, Too Cool, T &A (Test & Albert with Trish Stratus) Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Eddie Guerrero and occasionally Chris Jericho. I even remember them giving us a random Triple H match once (The opponent escapes my memory) and even a random Kurt Angle Vs Crash Holly for the WWF Championship match which I still vividly remember as a kid.
Tumblr media
On top of that, they would usually also feature the two best segments or matches from the previous WWF RAW is War and WWF SmackDown. These were great ways of finding out what was going on with the ā€˜bigā€™ shows regarding the WWF Championship. Quite often these segments included your usual main eventers from the time ā€“ The Rock, Austin, Undertaker, Triple H ā€“ Kurt Angle ā€“ Stephanie McMahon (Love triangle), Kane, Benoit, Foley etcā€¦
As an added bonus to this, Channel 4 would usually air around four PPVā€™s a year for free. If my memory is right, it would be January (Royal Rumble), May (Backlash), July (Fully Loaded / Invasion in 2001) and December (Armageddon / Vengeance in 2001)
I remember my first PPV being Fully Loaded 2000, an absolutely stacked show that to this day I still love. Advertised were three main events ā€“ WWF Championship, Rock & Benoit. Triple H & Jericho in a Last Man Standing match and The Undertaker & Kurt Angle in a feud over Angle destroying the Undertakers motorbike by accident! (Haha)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The opener was a 6-man tag between the Hardys & Lita vs Test, Albert, and Trish Stratus ā€“ This was a fun first match which the crowd was hot for. We also got Tazz vs Al Snow, Saturn Vs Guerrero for the European title, APA Vs Edge & Christian for the World Tag Team titles.
But my favourite match from this show as a kid was Val Venis with Trish Stratus Vs Rikishi inside a steel cage for the WWF Intercontinental title. As a kid, I loved Rikishi, I was so invested in his run as Intercontinental Champ. Him jumping from the top of the cage on to Val before Tazz screwed him over when he tried to escape the cage blew me away. I guess this just proves that everyone on WWF television during this time was over and had a character that nearly everyone was invested in.
Tumblr media
I wish at times that we could go back to these days; the business was so hot and even as a young kid it felt like you were watching and experiencing something special.
Anyway, that was just a quick insight into my WWF viewing as a kid in late 1999 into the year 2000. I might at some point watch and review WWF Fully Loaded 2000 and Armageddon 2000 (I was so excited for the 6-man Hell in A Cell match!)
Anyway, Iā€™ll stop rambling on now. Thanks for checking this fifth blog out. Iā€™m a self-confessed WWE fanboy, always have been since I started watching WWE as a child. However, as you can hopefully and probably tell Iā€™m trying to broaden byĀ Professional WrestlingĀ palate and horizons. If there is anything else you can recommend, Iā€™m open to suggestions. Iā€™m taking a break from my 9-5 office job at the moment and trying to fill my time!
Please leave feedback, if itā€™s constructive then Iā€™ll always appreciate it. Iā€™m always happy to learn and to become better. Please keep it respectful though, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Take it easy guys,
Andy

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #4 - Drew McIntyre

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #4
Drew McIntyre
Hey there guys & girls,
Iā€™m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastimeĀ Professional Wrestling.
Today I thought Iā€™d discuss WWE Superstar, Scotland & the UKā€™s own Drew McIntyre. His WWE accomplishments include ā€“
WWE Championship (2 times)
WWE Intercontinental Championship (1 time)
NXT Championship (1 time)
WWE (Raw) Tag Team Championship (2 times) ā€“ with Cody Rhodes (1) and Dolph Ziggler (1)
31st Triple Crown Champion
Men's Royal Rumble (2020)
No doubt this list of WWE achievements is impressive, but these obviously donā€™t include his many titles won on the independent scene.
I had the urge to write about McIntyre after seeing his recent performances on WWE Raw and interactions with Riddle and Xavier Woods. Finally, after what feels like quite a long time it feels like he has some direction and that weā€™re moving towards a heel turn. A heel turn in my opinion is badly needed to refresh his character, not that I think his character becoming stale has anything to do with the man himself.
WWE needs to take some responsibility for this and well of course, the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 didnā€™t help his cause either.
McIntyre returned to the company and did a good job on NXT in 2017, winning the title there before moving to the main roster and teaming up with Dolph Ziggler (I quite liked this alliance). So here we are, heading towards the 2020 Royal Rumble, Drew is starting to get cheers, doing the countdown to the claymore kick which the crowd instantly gets behind. Heā€™s got the look; he can talk, and he can undoubtedly work. He wins what is arguably one of the best Royal Rumble matches of recent times (Brock tore through the roster, Edge returned etcā€¦)
Tumblr media
So, you would naturally think that Drew McIntyre is heading towards WrestleMania against Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in the main event. Finally, heā€™s going to fulfil his destiny as the ā€˜chosen oneā€™ and be the man in front of a huge WrestleMania crowdā€¦. Then covid happens and ruins the entire thing. He ends up still winning the title, but he wins his first long awaited WWE Championship against Brock at WrestleMania in the WWE Performance Centre in front of nobody. I remember watching the documentary WWE produced around Drew, he was clearly disappointed about this, not that it was anyone elseā€™s fault, and nothing could be done to change what happened at the time.
Tumblr media
After holding the title during the pandemic era, defending it within the WWE Performance Centre and the WWE Thunderdome (Losing it once to Randy Orton before winning it back not long after) covid moved on, the world moved forward, but Drew McIntyre felt like somewhat of an afterthought. Post pandemic on WWE Raw, the show he was drafted to, Bobby Lashley, Big E and then Brock Lesnar were the title holders before Roman Reigns unified the WWE & Universal Championships. Meanwhile Drew drifted, still over as a babyface but it felt like his time to be ā€˜the manā€™ had been and gone whilst nobody was allowed in person to come and watch it all unfold.
Donā€™t get me wrong, I enjoyed his challenge against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle 2022 and his feud with Sheamus and Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, but apart from that it feels like heā€™s been treading water for quite some time. The two above feuds took place after he was drafted to SmackDown, but apart from these two feuds it didnā€™t feel like much else happened for McIntyre.
Iā€™ve been a huge fan of Drew McIntyre since he debuted on SmackDown when Vince McMahon announced him as the chosen one. When he went on to win the Intercontinental Championship, join 3MB and get released, I kept an eye on him and enjoyed his work with TNA. When he eventually made his way back to WWE and looked like he was finally going to be treated as the star that he is I was elated.
If the news and rumours are true and he is about to turn heel then I couldnā€™t be more excited. It will be exactly the shot of adrenaline his character needs. Make him driven to be relevant again at the top of WWEā€™s roster, upset at his glory and crowning moments being in front of nobody and how he feels forgotten and betrayed by the company and fans. The story is there, itā€™s easy. Drop the Scottish gimmick with the kilt, the bagpipe music (Any excuse to use the ā€˜Broken Dreamsā€™ entrance song again!) and make Drew McIntyre into a monster heel!
Tumblr media
Anyway, Iā€™ll stop rambling on now. Thanks for checking this fourth blog out.

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #3Ā
Some random thoughts (11thĀ September RAW Preview, MJF & Samoa Joe)
Hey there guys & girls,
Iā€™m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastimeĀ Professional Wrestling.
Today I thought Iā€™d discuss AEW Dynamiteā€™s segment between MJF & Samoa Joe and do a brief preview for WWE RAW tonight (11thĀ September 2023) Letā€™s get started ā€“
Tumblr media
WWE RAW ā€“ 11thĀ September 2023 ā€“ Brief Preview
Womenā€™s World Championship (Dominik Mysterio banned from ringside): Rhea Ripley defends against Raquel RodriguezĀ ā€“ Iā€™m assuming this will be the final match in this feud. Iā€™m also assuming even with Dom banned from ringside that Rhea will get the win and retain her Womenā€™s World Championship. Either she retains clean, or a present or new member of the Judgment Day might get the assist. Regardless, Iā€™m happy for the reign of Rhea to continue. Sheā€™s a megastar for this company.
Tumblr media
Cody Rhodes returns ā€“Ā Quite a few members of the wrestling online community are assuming that Cody Rhodes will be the member of the WWE RAW roster to be traded to SmackDown in return for Jey Usoā€™s switch to the red brand last week. Maybe weā€™ll find out more tonight? If he is moving to SmackDown maybe weā€™ll get a final match tonight or maybe a series of matches across the next few week before he makes the jump? I could be way off, and he might just start a new feud tonight with no mention of a move, weā€™ll have to wait and see!
Tumblr media
Guntherā€™s Record-Breaking Intercontinental Championship Celebration ā€“Ā Congratulations to Gunther on becoming the longest reigning and record-breaking Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. The celebration tonight should be interesting, I always feel like these segments work best for a comedic and whiny / scared heel champion ā€“ All of which does not describe Gunther at all. So, I will be interested to see how WWE approaches this. Iā€™m sure Iā€™m not the only one who wants to see Gable get involved with another rematch for the title then being booked for WWE Fastlane? I never get sick of these two working together, I really enjoyed their match last week!
Tumblr media
AEW Dynamite, 6thĀ September 2023 ā€“ AEW World Champion MJF & Samoa Joe ā€“
Tumblr media
So, I like many of you checked out AEW Dynamite last week. Nothing in particular was standing out to me during the show. Orange Cassidy made a brief appearance, gave a tiny promo, and left before Jon Moxley defended his newly won AEW International Championship in a decent opening bout. Kris Statlander then defended her AEW TBS Championship in what was another decent match, nothing special here. Le Sex Gods defeated Aussie Open in another average bout ā€“ Not sure about everyone else, but I donā€™t care about Sammy Guevara falling out with Chris Jericho.
So, as the show went on, I was beginning to wonder ā€œWhat is going to make me keep watching this?ā€ I was close to turning it off when the graphic came up announcing we would be hearing from the ROH Tag Team & AEW World Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman next!Ā Ā I thought, Iā€™ll watch this, if it isnā€™t interesting then Iā€™ll call it a night.
MJF made his way to the ring and in his usual style captivated the crowd immediately and had them in the palm of his hand straight away. Heā€™s arguably the best thing about AEW, heā€™s got the look, oozes charisma, character and personality and can be a heel you detest or a babyface you pull for. On top of that, heā€™s 27 years old. AEW should be looking to give him whatever he wants financially and building their company around this guy.
MJF stated how unhappy he was with Samoa Joe pushing him on the ramp at AEW All Out the previous weekend. If youā€™re aware of Joeā€™s run in WWE NXT, youā€™ll remember the infamous spot when heā€™s being accompanied to the ring by security backstage. One of the guards is a young MJF. Samoa Joe, carrying the NXT World Title at the time pushes the ā€˜kidā€™ into the wall. So of course, all these years later Joe doing this to MJF again is going to hit a nerve.
Tumblr media
Samoa Joe comes out and proceeds to call MJF ā€˜Kidā€™ numerous times which clearly gets under the champā€™s skin. Further insults are traded (Jokes at the expense of Joe, shots at William Regal etcā€¦) before Samoa Joe states that he will win the AEW Grand Slam tournament and go on to defeat MJF and claim the AEW World Championship. Joe called MJF a bitch which in return for he received a slap, Joe said he wasnā€™t going to take the champā€™s bait and allowed MJF to leave. Once MJF tried to leave Joe attacked, MJF rallied and attempted a comeback, but with an underlying ā€˜neckā€™ injury Joe got the upper hand and took control. Adam Cole then made the save and Joe retreated.
The reason this segment caught my interest in an otherwise bland show up until this point was due to a multitude of reasons ā€“ The crowd were hot for this segment, MJF and Samoa Joe deserve credit for this due to telling a story that went back years. They showed no respect for one another and despite it obviously being a storyline you could genuinely believe and understand both MJF and Joeā€™s viewpoints. MJF is the young champ, the future star who feels like a veteran he looked up to disrespected him whilst trying to make a name for himself in the business. Joe is the veteran, a killer in the ring who doesnā€™t respect anyone, especially a cocky and brash ā€˜kidā€™ like MJF.
I think we all know that Joe will be winning the AEW Grand Slam Tournament now, wouldnā€™t make sense for him not to. Hopefully between Joe and MJF fighting for the title we get to see the challenger Samoa Joe become even more ruthless ā€“ Let him get under the champā€™s skin even more by savagely attacking Adam Cole. Anyway, thatā€™s me starting to fantasy book how we get from A to Bā€¦ Thatā€™s not a bad thing though, AEW and this feud have clearly caught my attention and pulled me in.
Tumblr media
Final word on this segment is regarding some of the backlash I seen online regarding the WWE references. I think one person noted eight mentions of WWE terms, talents etcā€¦ Usually I wouldnā€™t be a fan of them using WWE as part of their feud, it would feel cheap (TNA used to do this and I didnā€™t like it then) but doing it to further a deep feud makes sense. Just donā€™t keep rehashing it over and over again AEW!
Anyway, Iā€™ll stop rambling on now. Thanks for checking this third blog out.
Take it easy guys,
Andy

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #2
Some random thoughts (Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Toni Storm & Ricky Starks)
Hey there guys & girls,
Iā€™m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastimeĀ Professional Wrestling.
Today I thought Iā€™d discuss a few random things in the world ofĀ Professional WrestlingĀ -
Tumblr media
Pro Wrestling NOAH
First of all, letā€™s discuss Pro Wrestling NOAH, a company based out of Japan, founded in the year 2000Ā by former All Japan Pro Wrestling ace Mitsuharu Misawa. My interest in the company first peaked in Autumn 2022 whilst watching CafĆ© De RenĆ© on YouTube. (If youā€™re not already watching the live streams Rene Dupree and company upload usually around twice a week youā€™re really missing out.) Stumbling across this channel by chance, I discovered that RenĆ© had been working in Japan for quite some time and latterly worked for Pro Wrestling NOAH before returning to Canada from Japan. Don't get me wrong, I had heard of the company previously, but never knew where to watch it, the history of the company etc..
Iā€™d been having a little bit of a slump with my enthusiasm for Professional Wrestling at the time ā€“ I was tired of watching my Ruthless Aggression playthrough on the WWE Network that I had started during the pandemic in 2020. The current WWE product is hard to watch at times for a fan who has watched religiously through the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era. So, this left me with watching podcasts of stars I enjoyed in the past and fondly remembering the old days with YouTube channels like Wrestling Bios. (Another great channel to check out!)
When I noticed the advert for Pro Wrestling NOAH on the end of a CafƩ De RenƩ show on YouTube one day, I thought to myself, why not check this out? Pure wrestling, hard and stiff with great storytelling and a roster full of talent.
Three of my favourites that have stood out so far are Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh and Naomichi Marufuji. Kiyomiya is a fantastic young talent, my first NOAH match was Kiyomiya Vs Kenoh for the GHC Heavyweight Championship in September 2022. Kenoh, leader of an awesome faction called Kongo came into this match as the champion, in a stiff and hard-fought battle the two men battered each other for 26 minutes before Kiyomiya managed to get the win.
If youā€™re looking for some great and hard hitting, back and forth action with good story telling then give NOAH a chance. Iā€™ve found it refreshing and Iā€™ve even signed up to Wrestle Universe, an app / website that can be bought forĀ Ā„900/monthĀ (Just under Ā£5 here in the UK) Iā€™ve been using it this week to catch up on the N-1 VICTORY 2023 from the 3rdĀ September.
If you want to maybe watch a few matches first, get a feel for the company and what it has to offer then I would recommend checking out the Pro Wrestling NOAH Official English Channel on YouTube. It uploads the occasional full-length match on there ā€“ Oh, and donā€™t worry it has English commentary. If you decide to check it out, let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
'The Illustriousā€™ Toni Storm
Secondly, lets quickly discuss Toni Storm and her recent shift in character on AEW television. Her backstage interviews with Renee Young, Lexy Nair and Tony Schiavone across AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision have been extremely entertaining. Sheā€™s nailing it with the change of look, slight change of accent, facial expressions, comedic timing (Bouncing off the interviewer with chemistry, funny moments, and perfect timing ā€“ And of course throwing the shoe!) and the creation of an interesting character within the AEW womenā€™s division. Iā€™ll openly admit Iā€™ve only just started paying attention to AEW again in the last few weeks, but Toni Storm has immediately stood out as the best thing going in their womenā€™s division. If they book her right, this incarnation of Toni Storm has a lot of longevity in it ā€“ Letā€™s keep an eye on the illustrious Toni Storm moving forward.
Side note ā€“ If there are any other women wrestlers on the AEW roster Iā€™m sleeping on, let me know!
Tumblr media
Ricky Starks
And finally, just a quick note on Ricky Starks. Apart from CM Punk, FTR, Christian Cage and Samoa Joe on AEW Collision, Ricky Starks is the most entertaining and interesting character on the show. With CM Punk now gone (As discussed in my first blog) Iā€™ll be expecting Ricky Starks to become even more prominent. I like his pairing with Big Bill (Big Cass), his segments with Ricky ā€˜The Dragonā€™ Steamboat were entertaining and his feud with CM Punk was an interesting one, unfortunately due to Punkā€™s conduct we were robbed of this final showdown. (Regardless, Danielson and Starks had a great match at AEW All Out last weekend)
Presentation is a big part of getting someone over inĀ Professional WrestlingĀ ā€“ Quite often I have found AEW are average with this, but I must admit theyā€™ve done a good job with Starks. I like his entrance, it makes him feel like a big deal, a star and someone with a desire and determination to become the best by any means possible. He can talk and looks great. Iā€™m interested to see whatā€™s next for him in AEW.
Anyway, Iā€™ll stop rambling on now. Thanks for checking this second blog out. Iā€™m a self-confessed WWE fanboy, always have been since I started watching WWE as a child. However, as you can hopefully and probably tell Iā€™m trying to broaden byĀ Professional WrestlingĀ palate and horizons. If there is anything else you can recommend Iā€™m open to suggestions.
Take it easy guys,
Andy

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #1Ā
Wrestling News From This Past Weekend (WWE Payback, CM Punk & Tony Khan)
Hey there guys & girls,
Iā€™m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastime Professional Wrestling.
I started watching WWF back in early 2000 around the time of the Royal Rumble. I was instantly hooked and became an avid fan of the great one, the brahma bull ā€“ The Rock! I was 100% invested in his battle with the Big Show around this time before heading towards WrestleMania 2000ā€™s fatal four-way (McMahon in each corner) match against the champ Triple H, Mick Foley and The Big Show.Ā
Since then, Iā€™ve never looked back really, and Iā€™ve been watching WWE for 23 years and counting. During this time, Iā€™ve checked out TNA / Impact Wrestling, AEW and most recently Pro-Wrestling NOAH from Japan.
Anyway, maybe for a future blog Iā€™ll write more about my introduction to the world of professional wrestling as a 9-year-old in the year 2000 and tell you who my favourites were. For now, Iā€™m here to talk about this past weekend ā€“ 2nd & 3rd September and two stories Iā€™ve decided to give my views on. Obviously, all opinions given are my own. Letā€™s get started ā€“
Tumblr media
WWE Payback ā€“ Saturday 2nd September 2023.Ā  Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the PPG Paints Arena.Ā
Seth ā€œFreakinā€ Rollins (C) Vs Shinsuke Nakamura ā€“ Winner, Seth ā€œFreakinā€ Rollins.Ā
Match Length ā€“ 26:05.
I know most people coming out of this PLE are talking primarily about the womenā€™s steel cage match between WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and ā€œThe Manā€ Becky Lynch. Donā€™t get me wrong, this match was great and deserves all the praise and plaudits that is currently receiving, but for me personally the main event was the highlight.
First of all, it was extremely refreshing to see a different main event match at a PLE that didnā€™t include Roman Reigns or the Bloodline. Of course, Iā€™m a huge fan of this storyline and the journey weā€™ve all been on the past few years, but it was nice to explore and experience something different.
In the build up to this match we got to see a ruthless and more aggressive side of Nakamura that we havenā€™t seen in a very long time. On top of that on the night of the PLE the company released an awesome animated promo package with Nakamura narrating over the top of it about what he planned to do to Rollins in their match. Rollins sold this well during the match ā€“ I also enjoyed the personal touch with Nakamura taking aim at Rollins family in the build-up.
Both men made their way to the ring, went through the usual introductions before the match got underway. Heading in to this one I had put money on Nakamura winning, especially with The Great Muta being in attendance. But in the end after a match that lasted just over 25 minutes, Seth Rollins managed to get the win with a curb stomp. This match was refreshing in sense that we had a babyface champion defending his title successfully in the main event of a WWE PLE. I also loved the fact that the pacing of the match was really well laid out. The match was telling the story of an injured Seth Rollins dealing with severe back issues that had been highlighted in the lead up to this match ā€“ So naturally as any good heel should do, Nakamura attacked and went on the offence with strong moves on the champions back. Iā€™ve got to also give Michael Cole and Corey Graves huge credit for really selling the severity of the back injury and the pain Seth Rollins was having to deal with. My only critique of this match was the actual end, it felt quite abrupt, not due to match length, but maybe Iā€™ve become to accustomed to multiple kick outs from finisher after finisher in Roman Reigns and AEW main event matches.
Initially I was disappointed it also ended the way it did for Nakamura, a clean loss after being so savage before and during the match. But thankfully once the PLE went off air Nakamura assaulted Rollins on the ramp. This feud still has legs, Nakamura can be a whiny but savage heel who feels embarrassed losing this World Title match in front of The Great Muta.
Letā€™s see how this one plays out on Monday Night RAW tonight!
Tumblr media
Tony Khan and CM Punk ā€“ AEW Release CM Punk after (another) backstage fight
Iā€™ll start this with Tony Khan ā€“ The list of job titles this man holds within the company alone should show why this doesnā€™t work. I know people will be quick to tell me The Elite are VPā€™s and have different roles within the companyā€¦ But letā€™s face it, Tony holds all the real power and authority and heā€™s shown multiple times that he isnā€™t capable of being a strong leader or showing true authority to members of his roster who act out or behave unprofessionally. Letā€™s be honest, CM Punk should have been gone after the press conference and fight afterwards with The Elite last year, this all occurred after he defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship at All Out 2022 last September. The fact Khan was willing to bring him back, basically create a whole new show for him and allow the carnage to continue and expected it to be smooth sailing says it all. What did he expect to happen? Can you imagine Vince McMahon allowing this to occur?
Now Iā€™ll quickly discuss CM Punk ā€“ As I write this there are reports online about WWE actually being interested in CM Punk last year before WrestleMania. The idea of him returning at the Royal Rumble 2023 and being eliminated by Kevin Owens was proposed. This would supposedly lead to him facing Owens in the main event of WrestleMania night one. This apparently was actually considered by Vince McMahon and Triple H. These reports also note that Vince McMahon is open to Punk returning and Triple H would consider it, however he would want long-term story plans etcā€¦ in place. All of this makes sense if you consider Punk showed up at a Monday Night RAW earlier this year in the parking lot.
In conclusion, Tony Khan in my opinion needs to hire proper management that can be in between himself and the talent ā€“ Omega and The Young Bucks donā€™t count, sorry Tony. CM Punk, well, if he really does get one last chance with WWE, my advice would be ā€“
Make a deal like Brock Lesnar / Goldberg ā€“ Work a set amount of dates, only work in the ring on PLE and have a set amount of TV appearances. Be a special attraction, be the star that you were between 2011 & 2014 in WWE.
Ā Do as youā€™re told by Vince McMahon and Triple H ā€“ Learn from your mistakes in AEW. Yes, I blame Tony Khan for not being able to control his roster, but CM Punk also has to take responsibility for being a veteran who handles disagreements with fist fights. You canā€™t settle disagreements in this way in 2023.
I was a huge CM Punk fan back in his run with WWE, I couldnā€™t wait to see him in AEW. But due to a couple of fights and injuries, we were robbed of a full two year run and got a stop / start one year run. Itā€™s a real shame, his career deserves to end better than this.
Anyway guys, Iā€™ll stop rambling now. Thanks for reading if you managed to get through it all. I intend on trying to do between 2 to 3 of these posts per week as well as a few personal blogs and maybe even some gaming blogs (WWE 2K23 ā€˜My GMā€™ & TEW 2020 ā€˜Pro-Wrestling NOAHā€™ saves)
Please leave feedback, if itā€™s constructive then Iā€™ll always appreciate it. Iā€™m always happy to learn and to become better. Please keep it respectful though, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Take it easy guys,
Andy
