100% agreed! there should be room to make decisions based on what’s going on! if one steward considers it unsafe for cars, immediate red flag
yeah but watch them just close their eyes or something, idk I'm sure they still could find ways to prevent a red flag if someone absolutely doesn't want it
totally understand that! but I think they didn’t throw the red flag in aus for GR is because with a VSC, everyone was considered ‘safe’ at those speeds and there wasn’t significant damage to the barriers. there was nothing in the stewards handbook to tell them that they needed to throw the red flag, even if it seems sensible (the stewards are stupid 90% of the time)
Well ... yeah, the stewards are just stupid most of the time. Idk, for me it's more of a "so we actually have not learned a single thing like ever and brake/tyre/... failures obviously aren't a thing" thing - if there's a driver sitting in his stranded car on track I don't care what speed the others are driving, the only acceptable speed (in my books) is 0. Maybe it wasn't in the rules but it should common sense ???? Or are they just waiting for the next fatality to happen and then be so shocked that a moving car crashing into a stranded car is actually not that good? Idk I guess I just expected them to actually be able to think 🤷🏼♀️
im on your side here! but even if its common sense, if its not in the handbook/rule book, they cant do what might seem sensible. this then becomes a different issue because it means that the handbook should be updated
I guess the issue with the handbook is that you can't rly include every possible option bc then that would just be too long for anyone to rly read it and then know all about it if a situation very similar to example no 5382638273 arises ... idk it's just fucked up and I'm still fascinated about how much they hype themselves up for all the safety improvements and shit at the F1 exhibition while they're actually all just big ass clowns, willing to put drivers' lives at risk for ✨ the circus ✨
... yeah. it's sad to see that they're still willing to put drivers into fucking dangerous situations just to keep the show running but cash is king ig

pretty sure they red flagged this race because of the barrier being destroyed. that was the main factor rather than the cars in that position
Oh yeah, I get that. My issue is just that in my very humble opinion, the exact same quick reaction to red flag the race should have happened in Australia after George crashed because that car was right there on track and if that's not a red flag situation then honestly idk what is
Like yes, it is understandable why they red flagged the race. But it happened so quickly??? While in Australia it kinda seemed like "oh yeah we told the drivers to be cautious through the yellow flags that's enough right?" as if we have learned absolutely nothing ???? This is supposed to be a safety first thing for crying out loud
