Well, since a former employee mentioned tumblr is selling data to midjourney, I guess I'm going to have to look into those poisoning tools cause I'm not sure I'm inclined to delete another account trying to get away from all this.

I can't find a way to verify the information but, I mean, just look around. Capitalism doesn't breed ethics. Everybody with a site hosting a community of artists, and everybody even a little bit indexable and accessible to a search engine, is being scraped.

I've always considered my art unworthy of theft. But I think at this point, I might as well do my part if a bot is gonna steal indiscriminately anyway.

I had kind of an awkward and surprising experience recently that I'm still thinking about.

I shared my artwork to a stranger irl.

And she was really impressed. She asked me which art school I went to, and was surprised to find out I hadn't gone to one. She said it was more impressive to her that I was self-taught.

I think maybe I avoid sharing my work because I don't think it's good enough, and I abstain from talking about it or engaging in self-promotion because I think I don't deserve it or it's obnoxious and shallow.

I also have a hard time opening myself up to the opinions of strangers cause I can be really sensitive.

But if I'm thinking about this woman's response to my art, and the work I've been doing in therapy lately... the only thing I can think of is that it's more rewarding to have one random stranger in real life celebrate my work than it is to avoid a dozen internet strangers who tear down art regularly in order to feel important or powerful or whatever.

I should really seek in person art community more often.

And I should really stand by my work and my skill, and not be weary of "bragging" a little about it.
