the crabtree

the bitten carpel of my cheeks is silent to

the sound of your name,

lost in the smoke we canvassed together,

hand in hand, membrane entwined through the

shy joining of palms. a hidden prayer whispered amidst

the careless dousing of reverence and teasing

promises we never claim to keep.

the smell of your neck, extended to me in

carnal, carnivorous desperation,

my face seeking comfort in the unfamiliar pit,

curls coiled in my teeth to caress me in turn,

leeching onto your transience that is

unknown to me and yet every move

every memory every breath

every drop

etched in the greed of my nails as

i crave the whisper of your skin,

the symphony of maroon which thrums in

clarity against the fumble of my rubato; yet

is crumbling away in the fog and brick of the

street which voyeurs our birth.

i miss what i do not know, what i can not

hear. ephemeral memory which taunts and yet

comforts against the bitter backdrop of

brittle time.

i peel and pick the skin that grew around us

to shed the familiarity which i cling to,

segments of myself that now belong to

you. deafened by the sonorous cocoon

of loss which trickles through the keys

which for a fleeting eternity, belonged to

you.
