anyways you know how the in-game description for the disquieted mentions how they were the reason their neighbors would hide their pets? ...meaning they have fucking PETS THERE?

i tried to think of what animals we’ve seen in madness combat so far are and there’s literally only like 3:

FLIES - that you see only around zombies,

BATS - that you only see at very the beginning of the haunting of nevada house,

and SPIDERS - whose only proof of existence is the fact that there are cobwebs sometimes

which could imply SEVERAL things like:

-some people decided they wanted to just catch a critter of their own?

-some people were just leaving their tarantulas and bats out unsupervised??

-nevada has some sort of ecosystem. or at least a single food chain???

i guess the disquieted got their knack for teleportation by chasing down these things because that takes some serious precision to do without everything getting away. this guy is probably the dedicated “can you take care of this bug please” guy in any household he hasn’t killed the inhabitants of yet

Killing Floor (PC) Review

Do you like violence, charming British accents, and jolly gingerbread men? Then try Killing Floor, a super fun co-op action horror game where angry naked people (and sometimes cookies) beat you up while you shoot at and hit them with stuff! :D

2023 Update: Now we're getting into my REALLY early steam reviews, from all the way back in 2013. I am still proud of the silliness of this one, but it could definitely use some more detail.

I mostly play KF2 nowadays as opposed to this one, but it definitely has some advantages over its sequel. No lootboxes or micro-transactions, just pure fun monster blasting mayhem. The DLC was much more reasonably priced. The quality of the animation and gore effects in KF2 has spoiled me to where, the combat in KF1 feels kind of stiff by comparison now, but I do still love the dark humor, art direction, weapon animations and sound design. There's still a few tracks of that (thankfully instrumental) shitty christian metal, but fortunately, almost the entire soundtrack consists of pure zYnthetic goodness.  The game also has a plethora of wonderful mods for it, and unlike KF2, it was designed to SUPPORT mods - the game actually has a built-in "mutator" menu where you enable and disable any of the mods you have installed. Really handy!

Sadly, this one was also developed by tripwire interactive, whom I can't condone giving money to due their egregious behavior over the years. It was never released for consoles, unfortunately, so the best bet for getting it (without giving money to a shit company)  is to see if it pops up in Humble Bundle Charity Bundle, which seem to be appearing every couple years lately. You can set all the fund to go to a charity, help out folks in need, and get yourself access to a really fun game as well!

sooo, zeds, huh?

In MADNESS:DRAGONS, Zeds are a little different from how they appear in the original series. Dating back to their earliest days on the planet, dragons have always been plagued by parasites and parasitoids alike- the most commonly known and feared being a type of cordyceps. It's a parasitoid fungus which, upon inhalation or ingestion of it's spores, can completely hijack a dragon's body, slowly killing them off and using their body as a breeding ground to propagate and spread. As dragon society evolved, medical advancements prevented an infection from being a death sentence- with the right treatment, the fungus can be safely removed before it completely overtakes it's host. And nowadays, dragons are smarter- they know how to avoid spores and infected creatures in the first place, and as such, most infections nowadays are caused through recklessness or bad accidents.

One interesting property of cordyceps- as long as it has something to feed on, the fungus itself doesn't die of old age... If kept in ideal conditions, it can live and grow indefinitely.

Now, even knowing this, surely no one would be stupid enough to try and make medical use out of one of dragonkind's oldest enemies, would they?

Enter the Enmeshment Program, or 'Plan Zed', unaffectionately nicknamed by Dr. Christoff.

What started off as an earnest and innocent plan devised by Dr. Crackpot to make something vital out of something destructive has long since wandered from it's original goal, to put it lightly. At first, he thought if cordyceps could be genetically modified and nullified of it's instincts to overtake and spread, it's immortal nature could make an internal life support system for terminally ill or injured dragons. Then, it went a little beyond... What if they didn't have to be injured to receive the treatment? Perhaps perfectly healthy dragons could use the immune system boost... Perhaps, if he plays his cards right, he could discover a way to make a dragon immortal, impervious to age as the fungus itself.

Unfortunately, Crackpot's experiments are going... Poorly. Phobos approves, if only because it keeps him busy, and a legion of undead, infectious husks makes a rather efficient way to dispose of dragons seeking to undermine his work. The byproduct of these less than ideal experiments- Zeds- run rampant at night in his district. He insists they're citizens, just like everyone else, and they're completely safe to interact with- but the degrees of sentience they retain are.... Varying, to say the least.

Wearing a facial covering is advisable when venturing into the Chasms district. Who knows what inhaling those spores'll do to you...

I wondered for a while. If zed bites you you become a zed. If vampire bites you you become a vampire. But what if a grunt bites them? Will they become grunts? And what if G03LM bites me? Do i become, big, stitched and polite?

That is simply not how it works. Zed bites will not convert you on their own, and neither will Vampire bites. They must kill you before conversion can take place. If you were to bite someone to death, they would not be converted into whatever you are though, unless what you are is a vampire or zed. Regular nevadeans do not have such conversion powers.
