ybc anon here with another headcanon: in the months after ybc, andy was instrumental to patrick’s psychological recovery from everything bc he was the only bandmate that the beast didn’t kill. because of this, patrick never felt guilty when andy was nice to him (which happened all the time with pete and joe) and was more likely to believe it when he said the guys forgave him. by 2014, patrick is back to being close with all his bandmates, but he does enlist andy’s help proposing to pete.

Yes. Andy was kinda like the rock for everyone else throughout recovery (which isn't to say that Andy didn't have his own moments of feeling unsteady or small, and the others helped him through that; this was equal effort by all four boys once they figured their shit out initially after revival), but especially Patrick. It sort of helped that Andy died the fastest?? Which is.. kinda horrible to say I know but it's true. He didn't die slowly like the other three did.. so he's a little less traumatized in that regard. Anyways.

the PROPOSAL fuckignfnmcmf. GGGAHAH. it's mentioned briefly in the first fic that Andy and Joe have been engaged for 2828463902354 years, so even aside from the whole Group Trauma Thing, Patrick rlly is just a regular dude looking to a friend for help. Andy knows Pete almost better than trick does, and has known him longer. Andy says one important thing: go simple, go honest.

so when Patrick does it, it's late at night. they're sitting on the hood of a car, staring up at the sky, and there are clouds passing by, lit by the moon. Patrick doesn't bother with any theatrics. he just pulls out a ring box, slips the ring onto Pete's right ring finger, and waits to see what he says. and Pete gets it. he just says yes. and that's that. :')
