Trying to write Captain America fanfiction and not only do I have to research 1930-40s Brooklyn, but also at this point 2014 America too because that was almost 10 years ago and I don't remember what was happening ☠️

#you know its strange in fics the references are always to contemporary 2014 stuff #but what I'D like to see is more of Captain America referencing 1940s stuff and then nobody getting his references #and he's like what come on who hasnt heard of Barney Google and his beloved horse Sparkplug #and everyone else is like ??? #idk i feel like our cultural reference points really influence how we think and see the world #a guy from the 40s will think different than a guy from 2014 #and i really want to explore that... #tho i doubt i have the capabilities to do it justice #too much to research... 😅
