Well im Icarus/Emery, I'm 18 and i use They/them pronounce. Im Non-binary and Bi

For my personality, i tend to be quiet and reserved at the beginning because i have a hard time building up trust with people but once im comfortable around someone i tend to be chaotic loud and just crazy, I'm incredibly loyal to the people i love and i hate if people lie to me. I'm also absolutely terrified of being replaced by someone who is better then me.

If someone wants to calm me down just put some drawing supplies Infront of me or turn on music, i basically listen to Music 24/7 and i have way to many favorite artists to actually write them down. My Love language is Touch and gift giving and i love to make my friends happy with little gifts etc.

For my appearance, I'm about 5'7 and i have short turquoise hair. Which i shaved off to feel more comfortable, i have green eyes which tend to change their color slightly based on my emotions (example: when im really angry they turn dark Green) my face is full of freckles and i have metal frame glasses which are a metallic pink and round on the bottom but flat on the Top.

My clothing style switches often between Goth and Alt but i also sometimes wear Academia and Pastel Goth. I have a septum ring and i love necklaces, chokers, rings and the Like. I have a relatively curvy body in a sort of Hourglass shape (just with a lot more pudge)

Some fun facts about me are that i want to become an artist, i read way to much for my own good, i used to Dance for fun, i love cooking and baking and i have an Obsession with Plushies. I am a huge Mythology nerd and know a lot of myths by heart, i cosplay for fun and i love meeting new people on the internet even though anxiety and the likes makes that hard for me. I also absolutely adore any animals (other then Bugs or spiders) and i used to volunteer at an animal shelter.

– for the record, he would definitely ask you to make him over at some point, just to see what he would look like if he were to dress like you. he just - he really admires your fashion sense

– loves listening to you talk about your interests or being involved with them in any way

– you’re drawing or doing other art stuff? he’s looking over your shoulder, watching in complete awe as you just do your thing

– you’re reading a new book/fic? read to him. tell him about it. give him commentary on it. at least let him sit with you while you read - let him cuddle you, as a little treat. let him wrap himself around you while you read, or at least rest his head on your tummy while you’re laying across the couch and reading!

– you start dancing out of nowhere? he’s right there with you, though he might hesitate a little [be nice, he’s shy /lh].

– you’re cooking? you’re trying a new recipe?? he wants to help! if he feels like he’s in the way, he’ll just sit to the side and bring you ingredients when you need them, set timers for you, wash the dishes. at least let him sit in the kitchen and watch while you work, maybe even let him lick the spoon if you’re feeling generous /lh

– you wanna talk about mythology? he’s all ears. stops whatever he’s doing to sit down and listen to you infodump to him, and always makes sure to ask questions. nods and hums and makes little noises to make sure you know he’s listening

– you’re planning on cosplaying? using him as a rubber duck; bounce ideas off of him! get his opinion on your makeup [he’ll always think you look amazing, even if you just went outside and rubbed some dirt on your face]! need help getting into costume? no problem, he’s there as soon as you call his name and carefully helping you get dressed!

– if you’re feeling down he Will Not Hesitate to bring patches to you

– if you ever feel like volunteering at an animal shelter again, he’ll be signing the both of you up as soon as the suggestion leaves your mouth

– begs to help you dye your hair. he’s always wanted to dye someone’s hair because he thinks the whole process is really cool, and it would just be another way he gets to be close to you and spend time with you

– if you’re not wearing your glasses, he’ll definitely steal them and try to wear them. jokes about how blind you are (even if your prescription isn’t that intense)

Calm Me Down Before I Sleep (YUNGBLUD x Borrower!Reader)

Synopsis: This is sort of a follow-up to this one-shot (you don't need to have read that one to read this one though!) In this one-shot, you're unable to sleep (due to anxiety) and Dom helps to calm you down.

Content Warnings: A tiny bit of strong language and mentions of anxiety (but this fic is pretty much entirely fluffy + SFW)

Word Count: 946

You tossed and turned in your bed as your head was too full of stressed-out thoughts. No matter how hard you tried to just switch off your brain and get some rest, all the things you were anxious about (which was a LOT of things) wouldn't stop swirling around in your head like a mental tornado. It was impossible to fall asleep peacefully, even though you could barely keep your eyes open.

A heavy sigh escaped your lips before you decided to go get a midnight snack from the kitchen. You hoped that it would provide a momentary distraction. It had been a few days since you'd even left the walls, so you weren't really sure what had compelled you to do this in the middle of the night.

Part of you wanted to go see if Dom was awake, but at the same time you didn't want to burden him with your anxieties and problems... He had told you that you could always come to him whenever you needed to, but you still worried that you'd be bothering him too much.

You sleepily made your way through the walls and pushed aside the loose tile that gave you easy access to the kitchen counter. The kitchen seemed so much more dark and vast than usual and you didn't actually know what you wanted to eat, so you simply stood there for a moment. The cold air sent a shiver down your spine (especially because you were just in your pyjamas) as you aimlessly looked around. The moonlight from outside just barely illuminated the room, and you were so lost in your head that you didn't even hear someone approaching the kitchen until they suddenly switched the light on.

"Agh!" You groaned as you instinctively flinched and covered your eyes.

"(Y/N)?" A familiar voice spoke, sounding surprised to see you. Your eyes slowly adjusted to the bright light and you looked up to see Dom walking towards the counter. He immediately reached towards you and gently scooped you up. A silent moment of mutual shock passed before he said, "(Y/N)- I missed you so fooking much- Are you alright?"

You had no idea how to actually answer that question, but Dom could tell by the look on your face that you weren't. He frowned sympathetically as he began softly rubbing your back. Although it had only been a few days since he'd last held you, his touch instantly soothed you. You fit so perfectly into the palm of his hand and the way that he held you was comforting, especially because his hands were so warm.

"Can you not sleep either?" He asked.

You shook your head.

"I was just about to go for a walk to clear my head, do ya wanna come with me?"

You nodded, mustering up a smile for the first time all week. You felt bad for not speaking, but you weren't really sure what to say.

Dom smiled back as he raised you towards his chest to gently hug you, and you could feel the calming rhythm of his heartbeat as he held you close.

"I am so fookin relieved that you're here, (Y/N)," He spoke quietly, but his voice still softly rumbled around you. He continued to hold you close as he made his way towards the front door and you heard him trying to silently unlock the door with his free hand. After a moment he finally stepped outside, and you were immediately met by a chilly breeze.

He moved you away from his chest and cupped his hands around you, "Is there anything ya need to talk about? I was so worried about ya."

You sighed softly, averting your gaze. How were you supposed to tell him everything that had been on your mind without either feeling like a burden or bursting into tears?

"Listen, if ya don't wanna talk about it now that's okay, but I'll always be here for ya whenever ya need somebody, (Y/N). Please, don't forget that."

After a moment of silence you finally stammered, "Dom- I- Thank you..." You'd immediately teared up at his words and, although you didn't want to show that, the way that your voice wavered made it clear that you needed him more than ever right now.

"I love ya, (Y/N)."

"I love you too, I honestly don't know what I'd do without you."

With a soft smile and twinkle in his gorgeous green eyes Dom held you close to his chest again. He loved to hold you close and make sure you knew how much he cared for you.

He kept you close to his heart as he started walking. Normally this weather would be dangerous for you to be outside in, but his warm hands and gentle grasp protected you from the icy cold air. It always astounded you that, despite how huge he was to you and how endlessly energetic he seemed to be, he was always so delicate with you and knew exactly how you wanted to be held. Right now he was casually running his thumb up and down your back and occasionally rubbing the top of your head, and he was applying just a little amount of pressure that reminded you of how much power he really had over you. Any other borrower would probably be terrified by thinking about that, but in your mind it just made you trust Dom even more; he only used that power to protect you, and that was all he'd ever wanted to do. You dozed off as he walked, feeling content for the first time in a long time.

Hey guys so I figured I would explain my OC ♡︎

Also TW for the back story since it can be sensitive to some, also mentions of ED.

Her name is Rose which if you have noticed is what I sign things by sometimes, I’ve never liked my real name and have gotten used to calling myself Rose in my head for many years now.

~Appearance

She was born with ginger hair and constantly dyes it blue.

Her hair is a little past shoulder length with long bangs

She has greyish blue eyes

A slightly round face

Neatly done eyebrows

She is almost on the to thin side

Although I know it’s a little nsfw here she has bigger boobs and a average butt

She has a lip piercing and a tattoo on her thigh of flowers

~Wardrobe

She normally wears very cutesy things like lace shirts with tube tops underneath along with skirts.

Alternatively she wears grunge type clothing such as baggy pants with chains or tight ripped jeans. Band tees and leather jackets.

When she gets comfortable she can be very sweet and motherly and very hyper and crazy

She’s pretty good at being able to manipulate people into doing things they normally may not or so do something for her

She tries to act like she’s better than everyone as a defense but in reality she has no self confidence and often hates on herself

~ Back story

She didn’t have a happy family at all. They were rich enough to live happily and have what they want most of the time but nothing crazy. She grew up the oldest of her siblings, but the forgotten child. Her parents often yelled at her over the other siblings and degraded her and would sometimes threaten to hit her or kill her. She was a straight A student and had good behavior for the most part. While she was at school she was the happiest, which is saying a lot. Her mother would comment about her weight all the time causing Rose to end up with an ED and major anxiety. Her dad would always talk about how that stuff isn’t real and only the weak can have it causing her to never come forward about it until she moved out.

~ Interest

She loves writing music and singing or playing instruments

She took ballet when she was younger causing her to have a love for dance

She enjoys watching anime or reading manga

She can play video games but prefers not to choosing to do something better with her time

Her favorite genre of music is alternative

Her favorite bands/singer is Yungblud and Alec Benjamin

She enjoys teasing people and watching how they react or why they react a certain way

She is interested in true crime and growing up always wanted to be a forensic scientist

She hates when people lie to her and tend to lose trust in people quickly when she finds out about it, especially if it’s something big

She has a huge huge fear of insects

She hates crying or showing emotions to people scared they will take advantage of her weakness or will think she is weak

Because of her parents she doesn’t like being told what to do to often

Lucifer- she actually respects him a lot and looks up to him, she diss likes how he treats Mammon most of the time relating it to her parents. She would consider them good friends to a point but when he’s angry she stays as far away from him as possible.

Mammon- she adores Mammon actually he brings a lot of joy to her life but she doesn’t take part in his schemes willingly most of the time unless Beel is involved. She considers him a brother.

Asmo- she counts him as her bestfriend and always goes to him about anything. He is one of the only ones who knows about her ED and he tries to help as much as possible. He respects that she doesn’t want to tell everyone so he keeps it to himself.

Leviathan- she doesn’t talk to him to much unless he invites her to play games with him, and when he talks about anime she actively listens finding it interesting. She would say they are friends.

Satan- she doesn’t get along with Satan to well thinking that he doesn’t listen to a thing anyone says. She also finds him kind of snobbish because of how he acts sometimes. She tries to help calm him down if he’s starting to get angry, she doesn’t like him not hate him. She would say they are okay friends at first. Once they get closer they are almost inseparable when she needs a brake.

Beelzebub- he is definitely her favorite brother and one of her crushes out of all the boys. He’s another one that knows of her ED, he didn’t understand it at first but thanks to him she is actively getting better. She loves spending time with him and finds him to be one of the sweetest people she’s met.

Belphigor- when she’s feeling sad and Beel Diavolo or Asmo isn’t around, sometimes even if they are, he will cuddle up to her. That’s his form of comforting her, he didn’t like her at first but the more he got to know the more he wanted to protect her.

Diavolo- her number one here, she is absolutely smitten by him like huge simp energy. She doesn’t look at him as if he’s just a prince or rich. She actually loves him as a person, not to mention she thinks he’s hot. They don’t get to spend much time together but when they do they are almost inseparable. He knows about her ED and mental problems almost as well as Asmo and will help her out. Often times she will call him before she goes to bed to let him know she’s okay or not.

Barbatos- at first she was scared of him, but the more she got to know about him the more she learned he’s actually quite gentle. He’s helped her learn how to cook when he has free time and will often ask her to help him when she’s at the palace. They have a very close bond.

Soloman- she doesn’t trust him to much since she feels he’s always got something up his sleeve. She keeps an eye on him and wouldnt really call him a friend

Simeon- she loves spending time with him since she finds being around him or Luke comforting, often times she won’t go near Soloman unless him or Luke is around to calm her nerves about him

Luke- THIS IS HER BABY DO NOT TOUCH HIM. She’s very protective over Luke at first she thoguht he was annoying but she quickly got use to him and often treats him like her child.

Summary: Steve races the clock to save you.

A/N: Lord y’all are going to kill me. I love you all and I’m sorry for what you are about to read. I might do two parts, because it feels unfinished to me SO LET ME KNOW!!! Also, I recommend listening to 11 minutes by Yungblud ft. Halsey, you won’t regret it!

He was so close, but still so far from you. How he could have let this happen? How could he have put you in harm’s way? He should have known. He had fought so hard to keep you hidden from his enemies. He tried. No one knew about your relationship to him, except for Bucky, Sam, Tony, and Nat. He even told Clint, because he needed to know how he kept his family safe. How could he not tell them? They were important to him, just as you were. They stood with the both of you, as you exchanged your vows. Tony set you both up in a nice home, off the radar. He did everything he could to keep you safe, and he failed.

“Can this jet go any faster, Nat?” Steve urged, begging.

“I’m going as fast as it will let me, Steve. We’ll get there. Don’t worry. Y/n will be okay.” Natasha glances at the tracker on the dash, pointing the jet towards your location that is being marked with a green dot. The necklace Steve gave you on your anniversary, was working like it should.

“I hope so.” He shifted to the back of the Quinjet, sitting in one of the seats and letting his head fall into his hands.

Steve had been in a one of the conference rooms with the team when Maria came bursting through the door. Her eyes immediately landing on Steve as he turned to see who had interrupted the meeting. As soon as his eyes met hers, he knew something was wrong and he quickly stood and followed her out of the room. Both of them racing down to Tony’s lab, feet pounding on the ground beneath them.

He slides to a stop inside the lab and finds Tony standing in front of one of his screens. His face filled with worry as a green dot blinks on a grid in front of his face. He glances at Steve and then back at the dot. Steve looks at the screen, moving closer to get a better look. His heart drops into his stomach as he sees your name above the flashing green dot. Your name was moving over the ocean. The only reason that your name would be flashing on the screen would be if you were in trouble and had activated your tracker.

Steve and Tony move their gazes away from the screen and to each other before both rushing out of the door to the lab and having F.R.I.D.A.Y call the rest of the team, telling them to get their gear and to head to the Quinjet. Steve’s heart racing the entire time. His anxiety rising at the thought of something happening to you because of him.

“Get ready to land.” Nat calls from the front of the jet, pulling Steve from his thoughts.

Bucky gives his shoulder firm squeeze, reassuring him that everything would be okay. That you would be okay. Steve stood and pulled his helmet over his head, grabbing his shield off of the wall behind him. Natasha landed the Quinjet, nice and smooth before unbuckling her seatbelt and launching herself from her seat, moving to the back to join the others, and to gather enough ammo and weapons for the fight ahead of them.

The team gathered their supplies quietly. Magazine clips clicking into place. Ear pieces being placed in ears. Steve moves to the jet’s door, hitting the open button and moving down the ramp, the other’s behind him.

“What room is she in?” Steve asked, as he and Bucky stomped down the halls, opening each door and searching the rooms. Occasionally, Bucky firing his gun at the enemies running towards them.

Bucky opened the tracking device Tony gave him before they ran into the building. “Not much further. We’ll get her Steve.”

That morning had started like no other, except for a small difference that would change their lives forever.

The sun flooded through the window of the master bedroom, warming their skin and pulling Steve from his dreamless sleep. He blinked his eyes open to find you staring at him, a small smile gracing your beautiful face.

“G’morning.” His voice rough from sleep.

“Morning.” You prop yourself up on an elbow and look down at him, still smiling.

Steve smiles back. “What is it?”

“I’m pregnant.” You whisper, as if the entire world is listening.

He feels his eyes grow wide, sleeping completely erased from his mind. “Are you serious?”

Your smile grows as you nod. He quickly reaches out and pulls you to him. You both had been trying to have a baby for months and it was finally happening. He couldn’t be happier. He knows that you’ve been wanting this for so long, and he would do anything to make you happy.

Steve gulps the giant lump in his throat at the moment that he shared with you this morning, sending a silent prayer to whoever was above, that you were okay.

“Here. This one.” Bucky stops in front of a door and glancing over at Steve, who nods. Bucky kicks the door in and they both move into the dark room. They scan it, as their eyes adjust to the darkness. Nothing and no one are in the room, besides a figure tied to a chair that’s been knocked over, under a spotlight. Their faced away from the door, but Steve would recognize that body anywhere. It was his wife.

Steve’s heart leaps and his stomach twists into knots. Bucky stands guard as Steve moves towards you.

“We found her.” Steve hears Bucky tell the others, but he misses the responses. Everything going silent around him as he focuses on you. Rushing towards you. He quickly unties you from the chair, gently pulls it away from your frame, and tosses it across the floor. You don’t budge. He gently rolls you over and his heart stops. Your eyes are open and staring at him, but you’re not moving. You’re not blinking.

“Y/N?” He brings a hand up to your face and gently strokes your cheek. Tears welling in his eyes. His other hand pulls his helmet off his head. He gets no response. “Baby? Please. Say something.” He looks you over and notices the deep gashes in you stomach. Blood completely soaking your shirt, the flood covered in a puddle of your blood. “Oh God. No. No no no no no. Bucky, she’s bleeding.” He presses a hand to your stomach. Though, you’re still warm, you’re not breathing. Unmoving.

He sees Bucky kneel beside him, his best friend’s hand stretching out to press two fingers to you neck. “I don’t feel a heartbeat, Steve. She’s gone.”

“No! No! She’s not! We can save them!” He keeps pressure on the open wound on your stomach thinking it would help, but it won’t. You’re already gone, and he knows it. He just won’t accept it.

“Steve. Steve, we need to go.”

“Not until, help gets here. She needs help.”

Bucky grips his shoulder and gives him a gentle shake. “Steve! She’s gone! I’m sorry, Punk. I’m so sorry, but she’s gone and there is nothing we can do except take her home and say goodbye.”

Steve shakes his head, hot tears cleaning away the dirt from his face. He looks down at you and a sob escapes from deep within his chest. He gathers you within his arms and just sobs. He presses his forehead to your shoulder as you lay limp within his arms. He can hear the others moving down the hall and their stomping stops, when they find the three of you. Steve broken on the floor with his wife in his arms. His best friend, trying to keep himself together, jaw clenching so hard his teeth could break.

How could he let this happen? He tried so hard to keep you safe and he failed. You were his to protect and he failed you. Failed your unborn child. He failed.

My Top 20 of 2018 (with 3 bonus songs) 1. “Jumpsuit” Twenty One Pilots – I was so excited when this song was released in the summer with news of an album in the fall. “Jumpsuit” is by far my favorite on Trench and I have loved it since my first listen. The heavy bass and Tyler’s screams at the end make this song amazing. Although this song did not become as big as I believe it should have, it defines the start of the Trench era and is my number one this year. 2. “Youngblood” 5 Seconds of Summer – This is another song that I absolutely loved on the first listen. The rhythm, the drums, the bass, the vocals; everything makes it catchy and creates a song that is easy to jam out to. “Youngblood” is a unique and well-written song that has to be second on my list. 3. “High Hopes” Panic! At the Disco – I have a trend with all these top songs that I loved on the first listen; yes, “High Hopes” is another one. This is a fun, upbeat song from Panic! At the Disco. Of course, Brendon Urie’s vocals are amazing. My favorite part is during the last chorus when everything in the background is quiet and then there’s a boom as the drums bring it all back in. All of these elements make it my number three in my Top 20. 4. “Natural” Imagine Dragons – Imagine Dragons never disappoint. They made another hit single this year with “Natural.” Dan Reynold’s growling vocals deliver this powerful song while the drums back him up. The lyrics and musicality put “Natural” high on the list for 2018. 5. “you should see me in a crown” Billie Eilish – I had heard of Billie Eilish in 2017 but didn’t take the time to listen to her music until the summer. I found I really enjoyed her music, but I absolutely love “you should see me in a crown.” This song has both heavy and soft moments placed perfectly with the lyrics. Thus, its placement is high on my list. 6. “In My Blood” Shawn Mendes – I was quite surprised when I heard this song from Shawn Mendes. I have enjoyed his previous singles, but I absolutely love this one. Mendes’ vocals deliver important, relatable lyrics. He describes the process of overcoming crushing anxiety with music that is both soft and powerful. I knew for a long time that this song would be in my Top 20, so here it finally is. 7. “Happier” Marshmello feat. Bastille – I have been enjoying Marshmello’s latest singles and have always loved Bastille, so I was excited to hear this collaboration and was not disappointed. Bastille’s Dan Smith brings wrenching vocals that help portray the story of loss told through the lyrics. The EDM creates an interesting contrast at times, thus making this a unique song deserving a place in the top half of my list. 8. “Pray for Me” The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar – Do we all agree Black Panther was an amazing film this year? Can we also agree it had some pretty great music? “Pray for Me” is my personal favorite from the soundtrack. The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar’s vocals and lyrics match the power of the tribal sounding background. This song has a one-of-a-kind sound that I must include it here. 9. “My My My!” Troye Sivan – Troye Sivan released a fantastic album with Bloom. “My My My!” was the first single and quickly set the tone. This song presents a fun dance beat as it tells about living life fully and loving wholeheartedly without fear. As one of my favorites of the year I had to have in this year’s Top 20. 10. “MANTRA” Bring Me the Horizon – This rock song brings many unique sounds to the eerie lyrics about starting a cult. Yet, the lyrics have a deeper meaning as singer Oli Sykes drew inspiration for the song by comparing a marriage to a two-man cult. The musicality and vocals alone make this alternative anthem close out the first half of my Top 20. 11. “Back to You” Selena Gomez –Selena Gomez released another catchy love song with “Back to You.” The music includes guitar and EDM sounds while Selena provides a range of vocals. This was one of my favorite pop songs this year, so I had to include it in this list. 12. “Head above Water” Avril Lavigne – She’s baaack! This song is quite different for Avril Lavigne, but it’s exactly what we needed to hear from her. Avril shows all her emotions with her vocals in this soft yet very powerful song. This song also has some personal connections for me, so I knew I had to have it in my Top 20. 13. “Without Me” Halsey – One of only two songs Halsey released this year, “Without Me” is a very real song about feeling betrayed after a failed relationship. Its musicality assists in perfectly presenting the songs sorrow and anger. As always, Halsey’s vocals also lift the song to new levels that make it deserving of a spot in this Top 20. 14. “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” The 1975 – A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships was another amazing album released in 2018. The 1975 made important commentary on the current social world which greatly revolves around online lives. “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” is one of the most catchy and popular off the album. I knew I needed a 1975 song in this list and after much contemplation, I knew this had to be the one. 15. “Better Now” Post Malone – While Post Malone had other popular singles this year, “Better Now” has some of the most relatable lyrics. He uses the song to portray the feelings after a break up when you’re not over someone and you think they’re not over you. The covers of this song really helped me appreciate this song and even if I may have liked them more, I must credit the original in my 2018 list. 16. “Thunderclouds” Sia, Diplo, and Labrinth (LSD) – I seem to always love anything Sia is involved with. The LSD project is no exception. “Thunderclouds” was the most popular single from the project. That is clearly because of its relatable lyrics on relationships, very catchy beat, and fantastic vocals from Sia and Labrinth. Thus, I added it here. 17. “Might Not Like Me” Brynn Elliot – The first time I heard this on the radio I knew it would be a hit. It’s such a strong female empowerment song. “Might Not Like Me” is about how boys may feel too intimidated by a strong, smart woman. It can show girls everywhere that a breakup can be necessary if the dude just can’t handle your awesomeness. I always love songs like this, so it was a must for this list. 18. “Love Me Not” Whitney Woerz – I first heard a snippet of this song on a Spotify ad. I enjoyed the beat and catchy tune so much I saved the song to my Favorites. “Love Me Not” is a fun song to dance to, but I didn’t understand some of the meaning until watching the music video. The video shows that it’s about not caring if someone likes you or not, but instead just living life to the fullest. This song always got me happy when I heard it, so I made sure to include in my Top 20. 19. “Sick Boy” The Chainsmokers – This is probably my favorite Chainsmokers song ever. It has tones darker than their other radio singles like “Closer” and “Something Just Like This.” They give a political message about the East and West Coasts of America while also touching on effects of social media in the bridge. “Sick Boy” was an excellent song to start off 2018 and it needed to be present here. 20. “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” Mark Ronson feat. Miley Cyrus – Although it was released near the end of the year, this single from Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus is a perfect representation of 2018. The steady beat combined with Miley’s raspy vocals creates a somber song that still makes you want to dance through the heartbreak. Thus, this song concludes my Top 20 Songs of 2018. 21. (Bonus) “The Stigma (Boys Don’t Cry)” As It Is – This song made me question why in the world I had never listened to As It Is before. Now I’m a big fan of all their music. “The Stigma” begins a discussion on gender stereotypes by producing a song that presents softer tones in the beginning that abruptly build to louder, emotional tones. Patty Walters’ vocals are also superb. The whole combination requires me to acknowledge this song as a bonus in my list. 22. (Bonus) “Medication” YUNGBLUD – YUNGBLUD (aka Dominic Harrison) is another artist I found this year and absolutely fell in love with. I made a recommendation on this blog earlier in the year, so you can check that out to read more about why I’m a fan of him. “Medication” is my favorite song from him this year, so I made it my second bonus song. It discusses society’s consistent need to medicate those with mental illness, even if those medications create a false reality and suppressing their true self. 23. (Bonus) “Death of a Hero” Alec Benjamin – Alec Benjamin was the final artist I became a big fan of this year. While his main single is “Let Me Down Slowly”, “Death of a Hero” was the song that made me decide to check out the rest of his songs. I also made a review of him like I did with Yungblud, so you can also check that out. “Death of Hero” tells the story of someone realizing their idol is not as they appear to be. They are flawed like the rest of us, but that means they are not the hero they were imagined to be. This is one of Alec’s many powerful songs, so it is my last bonus song and officially ends my list for 2018.
