Cinder is a lot more sexualized then the male parts of Salem's inner circle

Like tyrian is shirtless sometimes but that does not feel as...drawn attention to, as say, the lingering shots of Cinder's butt or thighs. Or her wearing short shorts and high boots you know what I mean?

I do, anon. RWBY got a lot of attention back in the day for its anti-upskirt technology, but that doesn't give it a free pass for all the other ways you might (and it does) sexualize the cast. I've never been inclined to give RWBY too much shit in this regard because it is pulling from media with a LONG history of such designs and cinematography - it feels unfair of me to act like RWBY is uniquely responsible for such problems when I'm simultaneously willing to overlook, say, the 90's "gag" of Yusuke flipping up Keiko's skirt - but there's nevertheless a voice in the back of my mind constantly asking things like, "Why are so many of the girls fighting in heels?" and "Why are they dressed like they're going to the club and not the literal TUNDRA??" I'd kill for the whole cast, but the girls in particular, to get a re-design that focuses on fashionably compelling practicality, rather than sexy fanservice. (Though Ice Kingdom did a good job overall, particularly for Ruby.) Sure, RWBY didn't give us panty-shots, but one of the first characters we're introduced to is literally designed like a dominatrix.

If we're talking about outfits though... I'd say Emerald gets hit the worst out of Salem's minions. Yeah, Cinder is definitely sexualized in a more general sense as the tall, white (that's not a coincidence), long-legged beauty who sensually conjures fire as she prowls towards the heroes, camera focused on her hips swaying. But Emerald?

She suffers from the same problem Yang has. AKA, if your woman isn't classically beautiful (like Wiess and to a different extent Blake), or cute / child-like (Ruby, Penny), but is instead going for a sporty, comparatively masculine-esque vibe... then they've got to show a LOT of skin. RWBY makes it sexy by just denying them clothes. You're entering dangerous battles on the daily? You want to protect yourself? Too bad. The audience needs a midriff and cleavage and your whole arms to stare at. Shorten the skin-tight pants so we can see some leg too. Oh, Yang has to have long pants because she's heading into the coldest Kingdom in Remnant? Never mind that, cut a strip out to show her thigh.

"But Clyde, the girls don't need to wear armor because of aura--" then why the hell does Jaune bother wearing that heavy-ass suit? Is it weight training? Does he just think it makes him look cool? ...or does it exist in case his aura breaks and he's allowed to wear more protective gear because there are different gender expectations attached to his design? The aura argument is just a modern rehashing of the Supergirl sun argument: using made up lore to "justify" getting your women characters into skimpy outfits, despite the men rarely being held to the same standards.

Tyrian is actually an interesting exception here and if I were less tired I'd think through this argument more, but something something as the "crazy" character he's allowed more leeway in breaking those expectations. Also the open shirt shows off his scars, which likewise help sell how dangerous he is. With the exception of characters like Cinder and Nora - whose injuries are Important Character Moments the audience gets to see play out - scars are surprisingly uncommon in Remanent. Or, again, they're severely downplayed so as not to interfere with that classic beauty design (like Weiss', or even Yang who gets a perfect cut when losing her arm). So when you see a character with giant scars spanning the length of his chest, an open shirt drawing deliberate attention to them... that makes you go, "Oh shit. What's he been through to scar like that in a world where most people make it out of fights with no permanent damage?"

This conversation really is flipping back and forth between me feeling bad for Niki and me feeling bad for Wilbur.

[“We’re here now,” Wilbur agreed.] such a loaded statement. Niki knows shit is up. But the problem with Wilbur lying is that once she figures (figured) it out she’ll never know how much he lied to her (and thus can always assume it’s more than it actually is.

[Niki clenched her jaw, turning to look at a rose bush beside her.] she could just be upset about Tomys, but it almost feels like she was testing to see if Wilbur was going to tell her that he already knew and he failed. Like she’s smart enough to assume that Phil knew and Wilbur getting to tour him is very suspicious if she did not see his facial reaction (if he even had one).

And I am so weak for Wilbur breaking his vow to not talk about what happens during the meetings to tell Niki that she’s still in the running. Like that could lose him his position if it got out. Phil would be so mad. But I love how he justifies it by saying he never made that promise to his father. Like my man really only cares for his father opinion. He straight up does not respect Sam enough to keep it (which fair after that dumpster fire of a meeting).

Yet, he still makes sure that no one is there. I swear he will get so paranoid that anything will get back to his father. In trying to assure Niki that she’s still in the running, he spills more than he means to aka the fact that no one knows what Sam is doing, least of all Sam (this is screaming “there’s a horse on the loose in the hospital”). He just gave her so much info she would have no other way of knowing.

In a way that’s a far greater show of loyalty than passing whatever test Niki may or may not have given him. He’s breaking the rules for him. Also this is some proper gossip (as my mind now supplies fofoca). Not only does he share that Niki and q are still in the running. He also straight up says that Sam isn’t thinking things through. Like everything Phil wanted him to shut up about during the meeting is coming out to play.

It’s also very funny to see how outspoken Wilbur gets with Niki vs how reserved she still is. Her words are still careful. She gives no strong opinions aside from thinking Tomys isn:t fit (yet).

that is the problem with lying... once you get caught once then the person you've lied to can never be sure when you're being honest or not

oh yeah since no one really knew that phil was kept in the dark about tommy's appearance, it's pretty much assumed that wilbur should've known too. especially with the touring thing. that didn't help.

he literally does not give a shit about his promise to sam or the kingdom as a whole he just wants his dad's respect lmaoooo. it doesn't matter because it's niki. his best friend. he wasn't able to tell her about tommy ahead of time, but he can tell her this. he can make up for it (he can't) with this (she would've found out anyway).

good to know all of us qsmp enjoyers have now been infected with calling it fofoca. it's just so fun to say. I almost said it to my mom the other day and had to stop myself because she would have no clue wtf that meant and then I'd have to awkwardly be like "oh yeah it's portuguese don't question why I randomly used this portuguese word in our conversation"

yeah in a way wilbur spilling so much was definitely a show of loyalty. but again, it depends on whose trust he's breaking with that info spill. phil never told him not to share that stuff so he goes for it. it's all stuff niki mostly knew about anyway. everyone in the palace is vaguely aware of sam's incompetence. but if phil had told him not to share it, he wouldn't have said a word. it's his father's word above the king's.

niki has been raised to be a proper lady of the court. she is extremely careful with her words because she knows propriety is a big part of getting ahead in a social circle like this. so even when she's alone with wilbur, she refrains from being too rude when talking about tommy. not because she thinks wilbur would tell anyone or care, but because she's just used to filtering her words like that.

😰 - what is one character you desperately want your muse to interact with

I don’t care if I’ve already answered this, there is another character would love to write with.

On my LOZ blog I'd really like to have Zelda interact with King Rhoam. I hate her dad so much, he was really awful to her, i understand you want to protect your kingdom but that does not mean entirely cold shoulder your daughter who needs emotional support really bad, he was a single struggling dad but that does not justify that---- i have a whole essay about this.... but that's besides the point. I do though always love some angst. Have found a blog for them but they are no longer active, dammit i was so close.

😍 - what is your favorite character you’ve rolplayed as in the past

😦 - what has been your worst roleplay experience?

I'm not going to get into specifics but it involves toxic drama and bullying.

😑- what is one character you refuse to roleplay as and why?

Lord Ghirahim from Skyward sword, or so that's what he calls himself because he is so creepy, he licked Link's ear causing him to flinch away just ' DUDE WTF' and a narcissist. Though i do like his theme song though.

I also like how he is Link’s constant foe not just sitting back behind a line of henchmen, he was out there getting shit done himself. He has a pet which is basically a demonic fire spider and that bosses theme is pretty epic and the ‘ this is your doom’ vibe is A+++ 👌👌👌👌 perfect.

What he says to Link before introducing his pet is kind of funny.

“ Oh, it’s you. Let me see.... no that’s not it. This is so very embarrassing, but i seem to be at a loss for your name Not that it matters, really. To tell you the truth, I’m feeling a bit frustrated and right now and just need somebody to vent to. I heard my underlings had finally captured the spirt maiden, so i rushed over what can i say? i was excited. Flustered, even but what did i find when i arrived? that agent of the goddess she had once again, you see what I’m trying to say is THAT GODDESS SERVING DOG ESCAPED WITH THE GIRL! i must have the spirit maiden in order to resurrect my master! I MUST HAVE HER .... I got a little carried away there didn’t i? i don’t deal well with the complications to plans I’ve laid out so carefully. It’s a character flaw of mine Ah, but something good can still come from this day! I had bottled up all of this anger smoldering inside of me, and now i can release it. There is somebody special i want you to meet . Oh! don’t be shy, i need to vent all of this unhealthy anger and your agony is such a great stress reliever. It won’t take more than a few moments with my friend before you’re charred to a satisfying crisp. And let me tell you that will put a spring in my step!” He is a creepy, sadistic narcissist, i don’t like them but i admit he is one of the best villains in LOZ.

When people just constantly badger you in a sort of passive aggressive way, clearly they want a reply in 0.5 minutes but they are acting like they don't.

😇 - do you consider yourself a good roleplayer?

Hell yeah.

👿 - do you consider yourself a bad roleplayer?

Nope. I'm pretty damn confident about my writing.

😫 - do you prefer fluff, angst, or smut?

Fluff and angst but no thank you to smut. I'm okay with kissing and all but pants coming off is where i draw the line. I have nothing against smut it's just both my angel muses and my LOZ muses are just not exactly cut out for that sort of thing.

I have tried it before and my favorite experience is when i wrote with on an old blog of mine with Micheal and one time they got really into it and oops incinerated their partner and than another time smashed their partner on accident while doing it like a rock.

😨 - how many roleplay blogs have you had active at once?

I have two blogs but my LOZ blog has been most active but i am trying to slowly make a come back to here and wake my muses up from their 100 year nap--- heh that's a breath of the wild inside joke.

😘 - what characters are you currently writing?

On my angel blog, I'm trying to wake up Micheal at the moment, i have my archangel Revali's little adopted child Leo [ basically the immortalized version of Botw Rev]

On my Legend of Zelda blog i have Link, Zelda and Revali and Mipha and Link's little sister Aryll.

😴 - have you ever given up on a blog and regretted it?

When i deactivated downwillow i sort of regretted it at first but got over it. I did because i had some friend drama on there but despite this there was memories on there that i still felt sentimental about it.
