Boss Battle + OST - Vestra/Darth Avriss (inspired by this post)

[Phase 1 - Heart of Chaos] - Peace is a lie.

Darth Avriss deigns to turn her eye upon you - a gnat, a parasite, long overdue for a mercy-killing. You face the might of a Lord of the Dark Council, heir to Kallig and Tulak Hord; the music heralds your doom and the struggle to come.

Her main moveset involves lightning and the occasional debuff, alternating between AOE lightning storms and lethal bolts at random targets. It is complemented with bursts of lightsaber attacks - moves adapted from Kallig's ancient manuals. Swift, efficient, but not the strongest of physical attacks. They deal less damage than lightning, but have a chance to deal a crippling effect.

She is agile, pounces between foes. Now and then, you hear her laughter amid the chaos of battle. She is playing with you, a predator toying with its food. She prods you for weaknesses and, perhaps, the potential to show her a better fight.

[Phase 2 - Divine Love] - (Terrible) Transcendence.

The Forcewalker reveals her full strength, and the music unfurls with a grandeur to match. You have proven your strength, and are now a threat in her eyes. She calls on all four Force ghosts tethered to her. Light grows dark. The air chills your skin. Death comes for you - en garde.

Her moveset remains the same, with increased damage. It is bolstered by four new moves, one from each ghost. Two lightsaber-based, two Force-based. Protect your healers - she wants to bleed you slow, drain the light of hope from your eyes, before dealing the final blow.

[Phase 3 - Almighty Bhunivelze] - Not all gods are of heaven.

Darth Avriss on her last legs - take utmost care. She is desperate, wounded, enraged. Logic is conquered by the destructive need to rend the world asunder, and drag you into oblivion with her. The music is still grand and intimidating, but incredibly discordant - reflecting her state of mind.

She consumes her ghosts wholly, absorbing their strength for one final blaze of glory. Almost all light dies in the chamber. The very ground beneath your feet shakes. The Force starts to unravel in her death grip. Her four ghost moves remain, but occur with increasing, erratic frequency. She is losing control, losing herself amid the ingestion of four separate souls, memories and all.

Put her out of her misery. Whittle down her health, pry loose her grip on stolen power. Leave her alone in her own skin, in her own mind, endure her last barrage of (AOE) lightning. Cut her down, let her collapse; a broken monument to her own failure, one final reminder of her mortality.

I was hoping to finish my replay of Prey + finish Mooncrash before starting anything else but like.. its just feeling like a chore and more annoying than fun cue my therapist yelling at me to work on actively doing things instead of just passively doing them

What’s your favourite genre to write in and why? contemporary!! because contemporary issues are fun, and i like to write about people interacting with each other more than anything else!

Do you think you have a style/voice that you use more often in your writing? When did you develop that style? hmm... from the one creative writing class i took a few semesters ago, i guess it was kinda odd to a lot of the students there that i wrote in present tense??? i didn’t always write in present tense, i used to write in the past, but idk, over the years i just felt that present tense has a ... stronger sort of.... hmmmmm.... idk how to explain it. i just like how it feels or sound more than past tense at times.

Do you play video games? What’s your favourite? i don’t really play video games! not really a gamer. but i did play FFX and FFXIII (+ XIII-2 and lightning returns) before, though i sucked HAHAHAHA but i enjoyed them! and the only game i’m actually playing now is like... pubg on mobile, so yea. not a gamer! prefer watching people play games!

If you were going to do a WIP crossover, which OCs would be most interesting together? (If you’ve only got one WIP crossover with something else) oh yea i’d totally cross over with percy jackson that’ll be really fun! i love greek mythology anyway & i’d love to add some chinese mytho into the mix (even if i’m not particularly well-versed in it)

Do you prefer to plan WIPs in a document or through handwritten notes? in my brain, where it goes missing like, 98% of the time. sometimes i try to write notes in my phone, where it also goes missing when my phone dies. so basically... there’s no planning.

Do you multiple languages exist in your WIP? If so how do you address that in the story? not really i guess, but... well because i do imagine some characters to speak cantonese instead of chinese, and jun might also speak a lil hokkien since he’s from taiwan... i mean, i don’t really address that HAHA they are just presumed to all be speaking chinese. or, yknow, i’m doing what the good place is doing and like, everything is kinda translated for them. but it’s not said outright in the novel itself. idk man

What’s your favourite animated film that’s not Disney or Pixar? this is TOUGH because there are so many!!! hM. maybe grave of the fireflies. i love myself some history and angst.

Do your real-life surroundings influence your WIP’s settings? not at all

Which OCs would be most likely to breath the fourth wall? jun and zhen. the former has already done that.

How do you work out your OCs’ personalities? well i just observe things that i like and get inspired by them!

Are you a planner, pantser, or planster? i have no idea what this means but if you’re assuming i plan things out, you’ve thought wrong!

What is your approach to research? google a lot, open a bunch of tabs, let them fester while i wail over the amount of text i have to read, and leave them to lag my computer over the course of a few months or even years while i never get to them

What POV is your novel? Why are you writing it this way? third-person multi POV! well because they all have their own stories and you’ve to understand things through various characters. also, it’s more fun that way

Do you know how your story ends before you start writing? yeah, most of the times i do. the middle is the amorphous mess that i try not to touch, though

When creating characters, what comes first: appearance, backstory, motivation, personality, something else? personality! most likely, i have something that i am VERY EXCITED for the character to say (usually like... humour stuffs) and that’s where their personality gets built from

What trope do you actually like? ummmm... enemies turned friends. love it when it’s done well!!! look at zuko!!! look at scar (from fmab)!!! look at law (from one piece)!!! my loves!

How did you come up with your title? HAHA tbh i can’t really remember. i guess it’s like... okay so my title is like all things out of season, and yknow, fruits and stuff are out of season when they’ve... well, past their season. or like, when they’re no longer ripe and might be wilting and people just throw them away. and it’s kinda related to death also i think??? and since my wip is about death, they’re all kinda like... out of their ‘ripe season’ or their ‘prime’ so to speak and ... yea. HAHAHA. i don’t know. the name just gives me a sort of really strong feeling that i like.  also since where they live, it’s always like... between spring-winter, those are the out-of-season months, don’t you think?

How has your MC developed, not within the plot, but since you first created them? well, i never thought that shou would be this absurd a person. or this dramatic. he was supposed to be a lil spooky yknow, kinda weird but also creepy. now he’s just weird. 

Your MC faces certain death.  What are their last words? i think for shou it might be “i’m sorry”, but to what exactly, i’m not sure even he knows.

Hey! I saw that you were a fan of Final Fantasy XIII!!! Sweet! I wanna know everything! 1: Who is your favorite character 2: Which one was your favorite game? 3: Who was your favorite pairing? And 4: If there was anything you could change about the game what would it be? Don't hold back!!! (Also how long have you been a fan of the trilogy)

Hey Anon! Yea I would love to get into my history with FFXIII! This game holds a very special place in my heart. It is the very first Final Fantasy game I got into. I would say Ive been in love with the game ever since I was 16 (I’m 21 now). So to answer your first question, I would have to say my favorite characters were Noel and Lightning. Lightning is a complete badass and Noel is such a sweetheart.

To the other question, my favorite game out of the three will always have to be the first one. I have a soft spot for the second one because of Noel and Sarah’s relationship and Hopes aging but I loved the whole team together.

When it comes to my favorite pairing, I honestly didn’t have one. I loved most of the friendships, such as Serah and Noel or Lightning and Sazh. But other than that the pairings were not doing it for me.

Although I loved the games, I would want to change a lot when it comes to the Main story and fait of the characters.

1: I read somewhere that Snow was originally supposed to be Lightnings love interest. I honestly would have loved to see that. They gave us so many scenes with just Snow and Lightning compared to how many they gave with his actual fiancé. I do like that he keeps calling her sis and they both genuinely care for each other (Although Lightning tires to hide it). The scene that really made me want this was in Lightning Returns when Lightning saves him from becoming a Cith and they had that little moment “for a second there I thought you cared”

2: I also wouldn’t have mind seeing a SerahXNoel relationship. I feel like they were a more awesome fit than Serah and Snow. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely adored their friendship in XIII-2, but just like the LightningXSnow, I wouldn’t mind to see that.

3: HOPE SHOULD HAVE STAYED 24 IN LIGHTNING RETURNS!!!! I hated Hope in the first game. He was so whiny and obnoxious. I know that he was going through a lot because he lost his mother and he was trying to hide his anger for Snow but still. He didn’t become less annoying until the end of the game. I fell in love with him in his older years. He was more mature and DID YOU SEE HIM IN THE CGI CUTSCENE!!! HE WAS SMOKEN HOT!!! I was pretty disappointed when they revealed he was going to be a 14 year in Lightning Returns. So yea I would’ve kept him older, I wanted just one scene with him and Lightning when he is that age

4: THE 500 YEAR GAP FUCKIN PISSED ME OFF!!! I already hate yearly gaps when characters are suffering, but I am use to a 5-10 year gap and those already made me angry. But to see that all the characters (aside from Lightning, Hope and Serah) had to suffer for 500 YEARS!!! Like that’s a little dramatic. Snow had to suffer 500 years grieving over Serahs death and Noel had to suffer without Serah and Yuel. It just… ugh ticked me off.

5: … Basically…. Lightning Returns in general. I kind of wished the game ended with everyone on the new world Hope created and just picked up another storyline. Not just having everything Hope put his blood sweat and tears into just get lost away, than have Lightning be asleep, then have Serah die, I just didn’t like it. I also don’t like how little we got of all the characters that weren’t Lightning, Hope and Lumina. It was the last game, I wished they gave us more stuff like when Fang and Lightning teamed up for that short bit. I did love her scenes with Noel though. I thought they were pretty badass. Honestly, just wish that they included everyone like Snow, Vanille, Fang, Sazh and Noel more.

6: Speaking of more Serah and Noel…. uhhh how come we got like no scenes of Noel talking about Serah? Yea we got that one scene near the end when he helps Lightning escape so she can save her (Save Serah) but other than that, nothing! Instead we got scenes about him trying to reunite with Yuel?? And what is the deal with him and Yuel anyway? Does he love her as a sister or as a lover? Because to me she seems like she was 12 while he was at least 17-18. Maybe that was addressed in the game but I have watched those cutscenes countless times idk how I missed it. I thought with all the fighting they were doing, we would have got something like “Come on Light, don’t you want me dead, don’t you hate me for not keeping Serah safe like I promised”? The moral to point 6 is, I wanted more Lightning and Noel talking about Serah.

Those are the only key points I can think of. But other than those I loved the trilogy and it showed me how Final Fantasy is amazing (because the only Square Enix game I was familiar with was Kingdom Hearts). The game was beautiful, the voice acting was awesome and the relationships were spot on.

WHY DID YOU PICK YOUR MUSE? I am one of the few people out there that truly enjoyed FFXIII and Lightning as a character. I feel through all 3 installments of her game she grew so much. There's a lot of development of her, and I love who she was and who she becomes. Why I chose her though? Writing her actually gives me confidence. I am nothing like Lightning, except for a few aspects. Like her wit, and humor. Other than that, she's a strong, independent woman who I wish I could be. XD

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EPISODE/SCENE OF YOUR MUSE? I love the scene where they all get sent back to Coccoon on their Eidolans and she's riding Odin and jumping between the motorcycle things and, it's just a badass scene for all the characters. Another, is the beginning and ending cutscene of Lightning Returns.

WHAT CRACK!SHIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR MUSE? Lol, a lot. My OTP is Lightis, but a close second is Light/Sasuke. (Yea I know XD) Other weird pairings she's done, is Gilgamesh/Light from the Fate Series, Light/Itachi, (Basically, Light and Uchihas XD) They really like her for some reason. That's all I can think of at the moment.
