"The calm before the storm" - the trip through these fjords at the end of the world was a humbling lesson in the power and scale of nature. All around us the majestic Andes plunged into the icy waters, carved up by the towering glaciers that shape this primal landscape. The waters themselves would lay perfectly, eerily calm and still one moment, and then start roiling and raging as they were lashed by storms the next. To finish my sequence on mist, here is one of my personal favourites of some early morning mist sweeping across this meadow near Milford Sound in New Zealand. This wasn’t a planned shoot, we were simply driving along and came round a bend to this view. One of those magical moments where we just sat and watched the mist and light play together! I found it hard to balance the light and the must in this shot when editting, what do you think of the end result?

Here's my take on this famous view of the dark hedges in Northern Ireland. The traditional (and arguably best) composition at the site includes much more of the lower foreground, so that you have the road as a leading line through the centre of the image. I personally decided to cut almost all the road to focus on the trees. For me it captures a more fairytale feel, like a scene from Tolkien's Lothlorien. The roaring ice of the Fox Glacier in New Zeland as it cuts through sheer rock. The vast, rolling fields of this estancia in Uraguay were an incredible place to visit. The days were full of sunshine, riding and working with the cattle; the evenings were full of candlelight and good food! This shot was taken on my phone - I'm not the best rider and there was no way I was able to ride and work with a heavy camera in tow! I'm a little unsure about this edit I tried. I feel that maybe a softer transition between the dark and the light side of head would look better - maybe something to try in the future! A different angle of that amazing patagonian sunset over the fjords at Puerto Natales. I'm always suprised how much of a difference slight changes in composition or crop can make too an image. One useful lightroom tip I learned recently is to use the "O" and SHIFT "O" functions to change the crop guides and orientations when using the crop function. A herd of zebra graze in front of the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro as it rises above the sunset clouds! I think it's important to always be thinking about each layer of a landscape composition so the viewer is drawn through your image. I have always loved hiking through woodland and forests, but really struggled to photograph them. They simply don't lend themselves to the wide angle sweeping panoramas I was initially drawn to.
