Shawn Michaels Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin pt. 1
Today for my first post in awhile, Im going to quickly talk about Shawn vs Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 14 in Boston, Massachusetts.
So after his second Royal Rumble win Steve is on his way to the top of the ladder of the World Wrestling Federation...and fast. If you werent watching back then go back and watch footage, the man was occoming off of his casket match at the Royal Rumble vs The Undertaker Shawn was set to face off against Austin. Unknown to the audience was the fact that Shawn was seriously injured after he and Undertaker had an accident in the ring where Taker went for a back body drop in an attempt to send Shawn over the ropes to the outside. While going over Shawn clipped his lower back on the edge of the coffin at ringside. If you have good eyes you could see that was a nasty spill but he was a real pro during the match not showing any signs that he was injured. The next morning Shawn was said to be unable to move from his hotel bed since the adrenaline had worn off from the night before. As the weeks went on Shawn was seen less and less, because as it came to light that he was injured he knew he would have to take some time off.
The following month at the Pay Per View No Way Out of Texas
Shawn was scheduled to team up with Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the New Age Outlaws in what was a more fully fleshed out version of Degeneration X who just made their debut several months ago in August, but became an official team the following September. They were scheduled to go up against Owen Hart, Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie aka Terry Funk (RIP) and none other than the man himself...Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Since Shawn was injured he couldnt participate in the match and still be expected to perform next month for their biggest show sooo.. yeah they weren't going to risk losing their main eventer in what was basically a throw away PPV. So then the picture above became this since they wanted it to build suspense.
Yeah they threw in Savio Vega in what had to be their most random pair ups to date and this is post the New Generation era. Not that Savio was a bad competitor he was actually a favorite of mine. But due to a lack of time, Ill spare you all the details and will just say Stone Colds team kicked ass and won... NEXT STOP WRESTLEMANIA at the Fleet Center in Boston!
Stay Tuned for part 2 when I talk about the following month going into wrestlemania and part 3 where I will review the match where i will give a play by play commentary! Like I said JUST STAY TUNED!!

Survivor Series 1997. The main event, Shawn Michaels won in 12:19 and became the new WWF Champion, after Michaels locked Bret Hart into the sharpshooter. Even though Hart had not submitted, Michaels was declared the winner, as Earl Hebner, on direct orders from McMahon, called for the bell.
