WORTH MORE STANDING Thanks Alex at Seas and Trees! I love my poster. I love that proceeds from selling these posters and stickers etc. helps support forest defenders on the Island. Our old growth really is worth more standing. As our climate crisis deepens, the value of these trees and these remnant forests becomes increases dramatically. 🌲🌲🌲 🙏 #oldgrowthforest #worthmorestanding (at Courtenay, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc9X10OtY1a/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Bear”ricade. Photos and Digital Media. Digital Collage. Photo samples obtained online. Featuring @nathanielglickman and text by @sea_palm and @globeandmail . You may have noticed that my feed has recently been occupied by events happening at Eden Grove and Fairy Creek. I’ve been preoccupied with staying on top of what’s happening and finding ways to give voice to those standing up for ancient forests. I have a lot to learn, but I can say that emotionally I’m shocked we are in this situation. Is it too much to hope that we would have developed and be practicing sustainable logging by now, with all that we know. It is too much to hope that by now we would understand the value of this land to the indigenous people. @bcndp @johnhorgan4bc #ancientforest #ancientforests #landback #worthmorestanding #iphonography #art #artist #artistsoninstagram #canadianartist #digitalart #digitalartist #decim8 #procreate #prisma #bcndp #johnhorgan https://www.instagram.com/p/CPTdM3ptJYW/?utm_medium=tumblr

Fairy Creek update posted to Facebook April 14, 2022:
🌲Court Report🌲
And so much more
611 days of Direct and indirect Action Protecting the Ancient Temperate Rainforests in so-called British Columbia and Beyond.
▪️ 🌈Rainbow eyes was back in Court today for a bail hearing. The hearing will continue on Thursday.
▪️ Marnie Recker's Fairy Creek painting has hit $5000 in a art auction ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
▪️ Howard Breen is in Solitary Confinement and is on day 12 of his hungerstrike to SAVE OLD GROWTH. He's gone from 210lbs to 192lbs. He has asked that we all please turn up the volume, spread this word and call @KatrineConroy
#Minister of Forests Lands, 250-387-6240 to request a meeting with her for Howard and his fellow hunger striker Brent Aichler who has not eaten in 18 days.
▪️ The Union of BC Indian Chiefs is calling on the B.C. government to immediately defer logging in all at-risk old-growth forests, compensate First Nations for any lost revenue in the short term. Meanwhile the federal government allocated $55 Million over 3 years to the BC Old Growth Nature Fund. The catch is that the John Horgan's NDP Gov have to match those funds. Moneys would go to Environment and Climate Change Canada and Natural Resources Canada to establish an Old Growth Nature Fund in Collaboration with BC, non-governmental organizations, and Indigenous and local communities. We need to get this info out to media, our MLAs, NGOs, Indigenous communities, etc.
▪️ Camps checked in and all is good in the wood hoods.

Conversation between loggers overheard at a rural fishing lodge where I stay for work:
"Is this really the issue they (Teal Jones) want to be hanged on? It was just too close to Victoria..."
The mentality among resource extractors is that the proximity to urban populations means proximity to potential protest due to the accessibility and firsthand witnessing of destructive extractive practices of precious biodiverse ancient forests.
Just as logging was deferred to Huu-yaa-aht territory after the success of the Meares Island War of The Woods in Tla-o-qui-aht territory, I have to wonder... what happens when the Old Growth needing protecting isn't a few hours drive from Victoria? What happens after the Fairy Creek protest and which old growth stand is next? What are our sustainable alternatives to old growth logging?
I am grateful for those who defended Fairy Creek allowing us to celebrate this success and am hopeful of the First Nations following suit- but the fight is not over. Sign the petitions. Write the letters. And let us not forget the complexities and nuances of Indigenous rights, title, and access to economic opportunities. As Huu-ay-aht Chief Councillor Robert Dennis Sr. is quoted in the Hashilthsa, "We've got to balance the two: we need an economy, but we also need a healthy environment. If you can find an alternative way that we can have an economy, bring it to us. Nobody is coming forward."

The Earth now has an atmospheric CO2 concentration of 419 parts per million, the highest the planet has seen in three to five million years. In 2019, NASA stated that eighteen of the nineteen warmest years on record had occurred since 2001. It gets worse from here. We need to protect all remaining stands of old growth forest in Haiti We can't afford to loose the biodiversity, water storage, carbon sequestration and many other ecosystem services. #fridaysforfuture #oldgrowth #ancientforest #protectourforests #saveoldgrowth #savelavisitenationalpark #forests #betterwithforests #worthmorestanding #biodiversity #waterprotectors #haiti #leadership #milliontreeshaiti #nyfoh #1mplv #lavisitenationalpark #haitienvironment #haitienvironnement #environment #environnement https://www.instagram.com/p/CiF3Qd8rClz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There’s going to be a protest against the logging of old growth temperate rainforests in BC on Monday, February 22 at prime minister Horgan’s office in Victoria (2806 Jacklin Road) The folks who have been blockading to prevent logging on Pacheedaht territory were served with an injunction the other day, so if you’re not able to go up and stand with them onsite this is a great opportunity to show support for forests that are #worthmorestanding.

"WORTH MORE STANDING," @johnhorgan4bc @bcndp Yes, BC's Premier said this about old growth forests, while electioneering in 2020. Today, in 2021, he and his government are supporting the logging of old growth. This is a call to action for all of us who know the deeper value of our old growth forests, who, if we are colonists on this land, value and honour First Nations' claims and culture. Stop the logging. Focus on land claims. Heal these wounds. Posted @withregram • @tzeporahberman Join constituents around B.C. for a unified day of action on June 10th to let your MLA and the @bcndp know that old growth is #WorthMoreStanding. This event is being organized in solidarity with Indigenous land defenders and their allies at the @fairycreekblockade to call on the B.C. government to implement immediate deferrals in the 1.3 million hectares of at-risk old growth. Premier Horgan’s forest announcement on Tuesday disappointed people across the province who were expecting the B.C. NDP to finally show some leadership on old growth protection. Horgan didn’t indicate any action on deferrals or reprieve for the arrests being made at Fairy Creek. As he was speaking, forest defenders were literally being removed by the RCMP. If you’re feeling disheartened and enraged right now – you’re not alone. But let’s use this as fuel to double down the pressure on MLAs because we have inside intel that this strategy is working. 1. RSVP on our Facebook event and share your event there: LINK IN BIO 2. Get organized with other people in your riding - however big or small, every action makes a difference! 3. Email [email protected] by Monday, June 7th with your planned event so we can amplify and add it to our media list 4. Share this with your network.
