Dark: Moon Knight #Moon Knight comics #latest release #Luminary #Marlene Alraune #Raul Bushman #get his REAR Marlene #I think what I like so much about this story is that it’s a bit of a reverse fridging #where it’s the boyfriend who dies early on and motivates the heroine’s journey into vigilantism and revenge #and even then this isn’t a true fridging as Marc’s loss is still distinctly felt after his passing #as opposed to being completely swept aside #and I think they quite adeptly side step the accusation of ‘oh of course Marc’s passing is being grieved in this story #because women are more emotional while a dude would have just moved along :////’ #by alluding to Frenchie’s own grieving process #indicating that this is simply a story that takes a more human approach to how comic book characters might react #to losing a loved one #who’s not completely forgotten nor completely idolized (which I think is a role Gwen Stacey fell into a lot in 70’s-90’s Spider-Man comics) #but instead they wrestle with a complex individual’s legacy who could simultaneously inspire frustration and the desire to do great good
