I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT MOVIE LESSO

spoilers for the movie ahead :)

so basically since lesso has been made a reader now instead of presumably evil aristocracy/royalty (going off the "the snow queen is her mum" theory here) then unless she just added lady onto her name to sound more authoritative I think she was blackmailed/forced into marrying rafal (which presumably would give her the title of lady) and that explains why she was so hung up on him throughout the movie and I'm also guessing he's threatening/blackmailing her with eviction or being fired in order to force her to make sure evil starts winning again hence why she was so paranoid about evil losing all the time and angry at Dovey in the library scene and also why she completely ignored everything that was going on with Sophie even though she almost certainly knew it was wrong but due to her being in love with Dovey and wanting to stay with her at the school and protect her she couldn't do anything about it because of rafal.

that's the only reason I could think of as to why they did her character arc like that instead of just sticking to the one in the books. also please bare in mind this is just a theory lmao

Since the Daynes live kinda near the marches, I feel like there’s some crossover between Dornish and Stormlander fashions going on. It’s hot enough in the day to wear loose cotton clothing, but cold enough in the evenings to wear snug and heavier coats and over garments. (Also the picture on the left is my new headcannon for Ashara and Allyria)

I think there is a variety of headwear that the Daynes use. In the sun and hot weather they use cotton veils and coverings to keep their scalps and necks and faces safe from the sun. In colder seasons they wear heavier fabrics to keep their ears and neck warm. And for ceremonial/celebratory stuff, they wear small headpieces with gauzy veils. Not much for practicality but it looks pretty 🫶

For the parts of the hair that are uncovered, I like to think the Dayne women braid it with silver silk, especially if they’re wearing purple clothing (gotta rep the team) but I think it’s also a Dornish thing in general to braid it so that it looks like a spine/spear cause unbowed unbent unbroken (also shoutout to @dreamsofdany who was doing hair drawings and came up with that idea!!) and I think unmarried girls especially like silk turbans/head wraps but they still wanna show off their silky hair so maybe it’s a trend to pull out the curls (the westerosi version of girls pulling ‘the strands’ out of their ponytails)

Also I fuck with these outfits in particular for the Dornish as a whole (well mostly northern dornish bc it would be too much to wear in like sunspear) idk maybe as some sort of traditional attire for either weddings or cultural events or maybe pregnant women wear this kind of silhouette in particular bc it’s just more comfortable and practical. Also the men totally wear this as a ceremonial/wedding fit bc I think the hats and fringe and embroidery go hard

And when I say jewelry you say silver. I know most of the Dornish are probably gold jewelry girls, but the Daynes have to stay true to their purple and silver brand. The women probably have ancient family heirlooms that are “made from the same fallen star that Dawn was forged from” that they hand down generation to generation. So the worthiest knight gets to become the Sword of the Morning, the baddest Dayne girlie gets to become the Lady of the Dawn or something

as of today, all of my former coworkers in the circulation department have either relocated to different branches or resigned 🤭

#mads makes a text post #can't say i'm surprised tbh #i love the staff at that location but admin treats the circ department kinda shitty ngl #like all the other circ clerks at other branches do more than the ones at the main branch (where i previously worked) #also ngl working at the main branch during its renovation kind of sucks #im so glad i got a new position at the location i would float to #it's a longer drive (only 20 minutes) but it's bearable and i like my new position! #also lol since the final clerk resigned they put up a hiring ad #ngl I’m kinda salty about that #because since the renovation started they had a hiring freeze at this location for months #and guess what - a youth services librarian actually retired in early June #if I wanted to I could have applied but they’re not putting it out until like the fall I guess #so I could have stayed at that location (no one wanted me to leave) but! #hiring freeze and ngl I wanted out of my current position #bc again - circ clerks at the main branch are treated kinda shitty and most normal responsibilities are capped #so I wasn’t going to learn or allow to do much which would have hindered future career paths #it’s fine though I like working at my current branch now #it has its ups and downs but the patron culture is so different #plus I no longer have to handle fine money which is super nice #anyway I hope my former coworker gets to do what she wants #(she’s doing further career research for what she really wants to do) #I feel bad for my former supervisors I know they must be freaking out now

:chinhands: i think what really separates hakuno from a traditional hero is that their love is directed towards all (like the world or the broad concept of "everyone") while hakuno's is a devoted love for an individual, it's more specific to the people in her life. this doesn't mean that hakuno doesn't care for others or that she's a bad person!! she truly is very good-natured and kindhearted person, just with a different set of values. she is an "outsider" that doesn't belong, a nobody in the world who has nothing. so it's only natural for her to latch on and prioritize any small connections she's made with a person over the grander scheme of things in the world. she herself says that she can't fight for a grand reason like the moon or the world, because her motivations has always been the people she treasured in front of her. the world is beautiful, she thinks it wonderful, but she's disconnected from it in a way, and any deeper feelings for it usually come by extension of a person. as in: this is the world x lives in / this is the world x wants to protect. it's always a specific person on the forefront of her mind and while she has a naturally kind personality that makes her care for others as well, that specific person definitely takes priority over anything else. it's not a bad thing per se, but damn does hakuno villainizes herself for it and outright calls herself selfish and evil for it when it's ?? not exactly the case.

tho i will say that it's Interesting(TM) because hakuno's selfless in the way that she devotes herself to a specific person to the point where it can arguably be considered selfish.... but that's a whole nother loaded topic! for this post, this is just why i headcanon her to like, or at least have some extent of admiration for, those that naturally fit into the concept of "heroes" and "allies of justice"; not going to want to be like them or put them on a pedestal, but she does have a special respect for them i'd imagine. to be more specific, that brand of heroes that value unity, fighting as a group against a common evil to protect the world; something she can't see in herself as someone who's only ever been fighting alone for her own sake and survival. it hurts just a little because the traits she find admirable in another person (e.g. kindness, self-sacrifice) are all traits she's fully capable of and have displayed time and time again, but she just can't see it in herself because her view of herself is soooo.... facking bad -vague hand gestures- :,)
