I imagine that during those 13 years when WWX was dead, anytime LZ would hear someone spew the most ridiculous lies about WY, he'd force himself to say nothing, since it wouldn't do any good, but boil with rage and feel sad inside. While JC, mostly angry about being reminded of WY, would feel this sort of glee. Like, you can't tell me, that he wouldn't look at those hideous 'portraits' of YLLZ, outside yelling at bringing him up and inside thinking viciously "Good."

Oh, absolutely. If JC had wanted to help WWX’s reputation even a little he was probably the only person who could; WWX’s brother, who had benefited a great deal from his support for years. People might consider him a little sentimental for saying anything good about WWX, but it wouldn’t be suspicious. But JC enjoyed seeing WWX’s name ground into the dirt, so he never said anything. Meanwhile it would have been suspicious if LWJ openly defended WWX, since they supposedly hated each other. Still, I think LWJ did what he could; given the way the Lan juniors respond to him being brought up, I think LWJ tried to teach them to respect WWX’s genius if nothing else, and also (though probably not directly naming WWX) not to take the popular view of events as fact without evidence. LWJ could do nothing on a large scale, but did his best anyway; JC could do something, but did nothing. That seems to be their positions with everything regarding WWX; hence why things go so much better for WWX once LWJ does have the power to do something.
