the author of the death and life of the great lakes is releasing another book about phosphorus (which like a half chapter ish of the book was about wrt lakes and agriculture specifically) thats set to release start of march omgggg

#okayyyy <3 literally i cannot wait omfg #like. idk i cannot explain how good and esp readable his death and life was. #im emotionaly abt anything and everything when it comes to humans but beyond that like. how do you open with just describing the history #of canals opening in the states and make it so so interesting and like. idk he def has a way with ordering stuff idk #what specfically but im reading the source abt rivers in america rn and its a bit jumping back and fourth #compared to how good death and life was written. and stuff like i knew nothing about alewives and hes describing these fish and their #population in the lakes over the decades and he keeps building onto it talking abt the introduction of salmon talking about the rise in #native species in relation and like. all interspersed w interviews of scientists and locals and business owners who all #are affected or know abt this stuff #the source by martin doyle is good too so far btw a lot about american government in relation to rivers canals etc #on the first part which is abt its relation to federalism and how power was handed back to federal government w rivers #as international transit systems and all that #very cool like genuinly interesting stuff #my take away is everyone should start reading books about rivers and lakes ^_^
