Repost from @motogypsy - My solo ride on el Trampolín de la Muerte, the Trampoline of Death. - With a name like that, how could I resist? - This infamous road in the south of Colombia crosses the Andes and leads through the legendary town of Sibundoy, a town surrounded by the highest concentration of psychoactive plants in the world. - The blade of grass tied on my handlebars was given to me by a small boy outside the city of Pasto, my own traveling plant medicine... one of childlike company - a medicine I choose to keep with me always. - #trampolindelamuerte #colombia #sibundoy #plantmedicine #royalenfield #giantloop #childatheart #weareallconnected #wearealltrulywild (at Colombia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrMXAtZHCLY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yeddr97gqnlx

W I L D & T A M E “What should I do about the wild and the tame? The wild heart that wants to be free, and the tame heart that wants to come home. I want to be held. I don’t want you to come too close. I want you to scoop me up and bring me home at nights. I don’t want to tell you where I am. I want to keep a place among the rocks where no one can find me. . free bird . I once had a series of dreams interpreted by a very wise woman.  She suggested that the caged animals I dreamt of were actually myself (very Jungian), and that my drive in life to help animals exist freely in the wild is born of a desire to free myself. It’s weird when someone tells you something about yourself that you didn’t know, yet seems so obvious. We are nature. We are all truly wild. I carry the sky in me. I carry the waterfall that breaks in the dark jungle, and I have molded the plain to my skull and the mountain range has been enclosed in it. - #JoseEustasioRivera from Wade Davis’ book, Magdalena: River of Dreams It is a wonder how we could ever feel lonely, with all that we are woven into— a tapestry of biodiversity, hurling through space together. #magiccarpetride @indianmotorcycle @rolandsandsdesign @giantloopmoto @wadedavis9136 . #motorcyclediaries #wadedavis #scoutsixty #womenwhoride #colombia #wearealltrulywild https://www.instagram.com/p/CEo1tspo5vw/?igshid=187tku4nid688

They want to get busy in order to forget. We should not talk in terms of what they should do, what they should not do, for the sake of the future. We should talk to them in such a way that touches their hearts, that helps them to engage on the path that will bring them true happiness; the path of love and understanding, the courage to let go. When they have tasted a little bit of peace and love, they may wake up. #ThichNhatHanh Landscape of an old coffee farm in Cartama, Antioquia, Colombia. We are hurling through space on a world filled with beautiful and bizarre creatures, all borrowing energy, passing on genetic information, living, adapting, and dying. This is a five month old orphaned sloth, who is currently being nurtured and cared for until she is ready to return to the wild. Had her mother not been poached, she would be clinging to her high in the trees. Thanks to the Aiunau foundation, she’ll have a second chance. Aiunau is also working to train local law enforcement and educate communities about protecting these animals in the wild. . Next up is to create corridors in Colombia so that the intact areas of habitat are connected, enabling sloths, monkeys, and bush dogs (among others) to move through forested land, allowing necessary gene flow. . @faiunau . #sloth #perezoso #wildliferescue #wildliferehabilitation #colombia #wildlifecorridor #geneflow #biodiversity #geneticlibrary #wearealltrulywild https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjp_nkBmiS/?igshid=1njbj3izp4fp7

Quilotoa, a turquoise lake located within a gaping crater of the most western volcano at 3,914 m (12,841 ft) in the Ecuadorian Andes. • The 3 km (1.86 mi) wide caldera was formed by the collapse of this volcano following a catastrophic eruption in 1280 AD. • The crater is now filled with a brilliant turquoise lake, 250 m (820ft) deep. The color, which seems to shift from everything between deep blue to bright green, results from dissolved minerals in the water. • @indianmotorcycle @rolandsandsdesign • #sheisthevolcano #quilotoa #ecuador #exploremore #indianscout #giantloopmoto #rolandsandsdesign #miajacket #volcano #crater #caldera #mountainsarecalling #beforethequarantine #wearealltrulywild https://www.instagram.com/p/B-xChMUBmwH/?igshid=10rxu9rban110

I made some friends in Ayacucho! - Capitán, the highly energetic, largest golden retriever I’ve ever met, who demands love and affection, and Pirata, the one-eyed Siamese cat. Also, obviously, their owners, Angie and her mother. - In searching for route options around the landslide, it looks like the only way is through Lircay district to Huancavelia, and apparently there is a river crossing that is about 60meters in length. - Angie’s mother, who works in Huancavelia, said that it is mostly dry this time of year and she’s seen other motorcycles cross it (likely those light Chinese ones). - I will have to try, but I hope if something goes wrong there will be people nearby who can help me. - #motorcyclediaries #animalfriends #motoadventure #peru #capitan #pirata #indianmotorcycles #wearealltrulywild (at Ayacucho) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1892UWB54W/?igshid=1b91npahvi1k

This little otter (Lontra felina) was the first otter to ever be successfully reintroduced into the wild in Chile. . This baby otter, called “chungungo” here in Chile, and thus named “Chungita,” arrived at the @chinchimen organization’s doorstep when she was 2 weeks old, with hypothermia, pneumonia, severe dehydration, and zooparasites. . On the brink of death, it was a 24 hour-a-day job to get this little one healthy again - for the next 12 months. . The dedication and effort that the few volunteers at Chinchiment do to care for a single otter is incredible. . Without a proper rehabilitation facility, the volunteers take the otter down to the seaside every day so that it may swim and learn how to hunt and navigate the environment it will eventually be set free in. . Endangered, the existence of these South American is in peril due to poaching for their pelts and frequent attacks by dogs that roam the streets (and chase you on your motorcycle). . Kalfu is a new baby otter that is currently being rehabilitated by Chinchimen. . You can watch her progress and later release via social media. Take part in their summer programs in Maitencillo to educate and help increase empathy among children via their website : Chinchimen.org . #otter #lontrafelina #chinchimen #chungungo @cafechungungo #chile #maitencillo #wildliferehabilitation #empathy #weareallconnected #wearealltrulywild (at Cafe Chungungo) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxAQDOYgUQw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=dw4yef5xu3y9

There are some areas of the Atacama in which rainfall has never been recorded, earning the title of the driest place on Earth. . Only now are scientists beginning to get a handle on just how long this desert has experienced this super-dry state. . Dr Timor Dunai and his team work to date surfaces which would normally be destroyed or washed away by rainfall or running water. . This is done with a technique that measures the changes in sediment grains caused by exposure to cosmic rays, high-energy particles bombarding Earth from space. . “We found loose sediment surfaces that would be washed away by any desert rainfall and these are older than 20 million years," Dr Dunai said. . This means that the Atacama has been in this extremely arid state longer than any other location on earth. . “The origin of the aridity in the Atacama dates back to the opening of ocean pathways—the opening between South America and Antarctica, and between Australia and the Antarctic.” . Mind blowing to know the grains of Earth I walk on have remained as they are for so long. . Also, looking Martian comes easy for me in the Atacama, as this is where NASA tests out rovers and tools destined for Mars. . #ancient #desert #atacama #mars #cosmicrays #southamerica #mindblown #rolandsandsdesign #indianmotorcycle #scoutsixty #wearealltrulywild . https://www.instagram.com/p/ByNnEinhxzt/?igshid=gyvjhu1c2aqj

I was already having a pretty wild day had on the road, and then, in the middle of my lane, I see a large hawk that had been hit by a car. . I see the wind pick up its wing, lofting it a couple times. . I turn around and pull off the road. I always try to move wildlife to more respectful resting places when they’ve been killed on the road. . Short on time, I take off running across the road towards the bird and see that it’s eyes are looking up at me! . That wasn’t the wind that lofted its wing - it is very much alive. . I gently fold her wings close to her body and pick her up. She is very docile. . Her head is cranked all the way back, like she’s trying to look above and behind her. . I see blood coming from her nose and a little on the rim of her eye. I lift her head to see if her spine is broken... but it isn’t. . Now. What to do? I hold her in my arms while I look around... there isn’t much... a bus stop and some dusty roads. . I try to see if she’s just in shock and will recover quickly, but she clearly needs more time and would be so vulnerable and helpless if I just left her somewhere. . So, I decide to wrap her in my scarf, put her in my bag and take her with me on my bike. . #ontheroad #wildliferescue #buteo #hawk #wild #chile #rolandsandsdesign #indianmotorcycle #wearealltrulywild https://www.instagram.com/p/Bxqjg-mhlyA/?igshid=1vlmaux93v8rj
