#saint.txt #spoilers #major spoilers #estinienposting #it just fucking kills me bc when he asks why you can't conceive of him and love in the same sentence he genuinely sounds bothered #like esti.nien is fully aware of how he comes off and is genuinely bothered that you take it face-value and think he's cold and unempatheti #and like so much previous content establishes that esti.nien is self and socially aware and is tuned to how people are feeling #and is capable of navigating those situations with a surprising amount of grace so yeah I think acting like he's also somehow unable #to read a room (despite being for a significant portion of his life in charge of people) is more than a little annoying. #especially in the context that esti.nien is literally a child soldier (children fighting in war is normalized in ish.gard) #who has grown up under the constant abusive surveillance of the halonic church and has only within the last few years escaped it. #like I said his writing is all over the place. he's uniquely emotionally intelligent and empathetic except when he isn't bc that's when #we want him to be our funney stupid joke man bc man stupid is hilarious.
