I have run a few tests and the core functionality seems to be working fine - so I can press the button and it'll take a picture with the camera embedded in the left eye socket, briefly illuminating an led that's in the right eye socket and playing a buzzer briefly.
The green led turns on when the program I wrote is running, and if it's connected to a network the orange led will also turn on(so I can tell whether it's accessible to get the pictures off of it)
So it should be all good for MCM London on Saturday at this rate, just need to check that the cranial casing for the left hand side won't affect the picture too much
Had to remove the environment sensor as it didn't like that it was being powered from a power bank - so no temperature alert when it gets too hot for me(It was going to light up the remed if the temperature got above 30°)
Also had to take off the programmable RGB array, as whoever wired that integrated circuit was clearly on a great many things when they designed it - Trying to just access specified lights was madness. The first led was accessed through (0,1) whilst the 2nd was (1,1) and the third (6,0). And having all of them on made it looks like the skull was about to self-destruct with how bright they are
Some photos from a con cause why the fuck not, tried the competition, tech people fucked up but I still got a nomination. Also funny transuranic arquebus, first in the world to my knowledge :)
Commissar Cain against the Valhallans' deadly weapons🙂
My friends and I also do Warhammer 40,000 cosplay.
Ciaphas Cain and his loyal assistant Jurgen are definitely among my favorite characters. Cain's style of storytelling is sometimes so reminiscent of my own internal monologues (oh, that impostor syndrome!) that I simply repeat them as a refrain in my head.
And the ironic comments of Inquisitor Vale are a special pleasure and add layers and depth to the story.
I would love to cosplay the dodgy commissar myself, but purely based on physical characteristics, I don’t fit the image of a two-meter tall athletic guy with sideburns. Unlike my boyfriend, as you can see in the video ( ・・)つ⬆️ (yes, a little bit of bragging about my boyfriend, don't judge me (*/_\)
P.S. This is the first greatcoat option; an improved version is currently in the process.
haven’t really posted about this project on tumblr because i’ve been fearing it’ll go to shit. Now that i’m at this point i might as well tell you all that I, Jean-Napoleon Vincent Leone Rylanor Nikolai the henceforth and the emissary of the fucking whatchamacallit, am going to be, to my knowledge, the first ever orikan cosplayer
I went to #whfest2023, because it was in #Manchester. And honestly I had such a great time, I got turned into a miniature by someone who can't paint eyes!
On the plus side I can see all the things on the battlefield.
So... i ended up entering a cosplay contest with my skitarii cosplay, this was my first ever performance so i was really nervous lmao, but i ended up winning second place!!
The 2nd servo-skull is now assembled and wired up. Took longer than I expected as I kept on putting it off. Basically has the same hardware as the 1st one, but with a speaker system for playing proper audio, and an extra button so I can toggle between taking pictures and recording videos
Now I just have to hope I did it all correctly and my software will run without too many catastrophic breakdowns...before I need it on Saturday for MegaCon Birmingham
