Pop Culture Robin, maybe?
Tumblr media
I LOOOVE Robin. I think he's so cool. I love his VA as well, and I'm a fan of WADARCO's art even though find some of their designs well, questionable. His Summer spiritron dress though, oh... He might be one of the first servants I grailed as well. He’s so cool! So handsome!!!
This was one of the requests I did for this palette challenge! Thank you everyone who sent me their request!

Actually I take back some of what I've said about Lip. Reading her SGs, I get the impression she's supposed to a reflection of how the patriarchy/misogyny views women. Her design is objectifying to an obscene amount, she's constantly criticized as being dumb and slow, and she has this unhealthy obsession with love that makes her seem kind of crazy. I'm super tired right now so I can't say how much of this is actual subtext and how much is my copium for this character to be more than "haha big tits" but it looks like they weren't completely thinking with their dicks for this one (metaphorically in Wadarco's case ofc)

honestly i'm really happy that arjuna gets to be in another non-fgo game, not to be rude but i really dislike how wadarco draws him and rei wataru just does it a lot better

one common thing that I've observed over the years in the fate fandom is that whenever a new Takeuchi or Raita servant releases, there's always this song and dance where a good chunk of it rehashes the same complaint about them, sometimes in good jest, but once you start drifting away from the fans that genuinely enjoy their work, you start noticing a certain... meanness in how people talk about these artists, and it's not just them in particular but they're always lightning rods for these topics
'ugly', 'hacks', 'undeserving of their popularity' - common 'criticisms' I see about them in gaming communities that I'd closer call a dudebro haven than anything else; nitpicks over poses, over composition, over anatomy, and (their favorite) over faces (haha see how this character looks like Saber again), the same song and dance, over and over again
except
None of this comes from a place of appreciation of their work, but from how much they dislike these artists for showing up again and again. They call it 'criticism from a consumer', but it's thinly veiled hate that's meant to tear down something they see as 'other' in their view because it doesn't pander to their self-ascribed aesthetics
Oh, but they're fine with wacky horny art if it comes from a 'proper' artist (i.e. ReDrop) or sameface-ry if it's characters they like (Wadarco), but they're not the butt of jokes and easy scapegoats to vent their envy on so, whatever
It's kind of just tiring seeing these people bash Takeuchi and Raita as like they're some sort of plague of 'bad art' and they have to be these brave critical consumers (because of course they can't criticize them as artists without sounding like they're envious of their work)
just say you don't like them and shut up, christ almighty, it's like you can't even say you dislike an artist for personal reasons without trying to become a preacher and give sermons on why you don't like them aaaaaaaa

things i've gathered from twitter so far given by the nasu and takeuchi interview:
most of this was taken by @GutsACS on twitter (so big credit to them)
they used machine translation so there may be inaccuracies
read under the cut for infos on the main story, new summer event and game development
main story infos
koyanskaya ended up the most impactful servant to takeuchi, originally she was meant to be only one character but they wound up splitting her into light and dark
they said they cannot comment on warrior monk and johanna appearing again in the interview — NPCs do have a place in the story as characters but not everyone can be implemented is what they say, but they do want to respond to people's feelings for these characters
WADARCO considers koyan of dark her "ultimate" design
roland's game data was ready ever since his old NPC interlude cameo, they just didn't find the right time to implement him
young moriarty was originally not planned for traum, takeuchi said he wanted it and it happened
lb7 is "simpler" than lb6 but still very exciting and they want to surprise the players
nasu says lb7 is a lot like singularity 7 in its purpose and what it means for part 2
they've been working on what comes after lb7 since last year and takeuchi now has "finally settled on a timeline"
according to nasu lb7 will not answer all mysteries of arc 2,but with it you'll be more likely to finally grasp the outline and start to see the solution
nasu said he cannot say what comes after lb7 yet (so no answer wether there'll be a lb7.5)
however he asks players to remember that back at lb5 he said "finally one third is over" and "this is not the half of it" and then smiles at the interviewer?
according to nasu there's two different options for fgo after the lostbelt arc ends: 1. chaldea's storyline continues from part 2 or 2. chaldea's story ends in part 2 and a new story begins
he personally wants option 1, but it depends on the player base
summer event infos
3 SSRs are planned for this summer event
the theme is an amisement park in the arctic circle
nasu thinks some servants will be expected this year, but some will be unexpected
nasu says the theme is a resort with no extra subtheme (so no ServaFes kinda thing)
in regards to protomerlin, he calls the merlins an exchange (he let arcade use her for their story, but thinks now it is time to get to use her in the mobage
takeuchi says there is no significant narrative force with her showing up in this event in regards to the later story
nasu is already stressing about the themes for the next two summer events
Game infos
takeuchi and nasu mention that the switch to lasengle has allowed them to finally start fixing lrg development issues they've faced since the beginning
they started working on changes during lb6
according to them the changes are still recent so you might not see the impact just yet but it will become evident over time
nasu mentioned something about these improvements for fgo to be able to continue for a long time
takeuchi says that if they didnt do it they wouldn't be able to continue fgo to the end
takeuchi wanted append skills at the start of the lostbelt but the development environment made it so it was impossible to do so by then
nasu was worried they might ruin the game balance in the adjustments, but it wad unanimous the game was outdated and in a rut, so they needed to make changes and we'll see that continue to take shape
they felt grail casting was nevessary 'cause supply isn't keeping up with demand denandas servants & therefore peoples' faves increwse in number
nasu wanted casting so it would feel like you made something rather than received it
for the super recollection quests, they are working on making cernunnos as a boss more balanced
they want to implement koyanskaya's lostbelt outfits (lb1, 3, 4 & 6)
kanpu wants to make party formation easier
the next grailfront will take longer to complete than previous ones
