request: KANG SEUNGSIK as a single father. As I type I feel like you're going to cry writing this and I'll cry reading it but what are we if not crying seungsik fans. Enjoy this dawn, I'll be back soon~

[warnings]: the req was just for sik but...ot7 victon being single dads was a requirement here. gender-neutral kids instead of specifying!, talk of being unequipped while trying their best, some angst but mainly fluff

seungwoo

wakes up on the weekends to his kids sprawled over him on the bed because they felt bad that he was sleeping on such a big mattress all alone. the best at sneaking away to make breakfast and drink coffee without waking them for even a second.

took two days to learn how to put a car seat in the back of his car properly. didn’t leave the house for two days because of it. had to watch so many youtube videos but couldn’t focus on both the video and the seat at the same time. years later he’ll be the one installing it for his friend’s kids.

literally just a big toy for little kids. they’ll ask to climb on him or be held either way, why should he deny them such joy? is always carrying a kid on his shoulders or tossing them up over his head only to catch them.

squishes his kid’s cheek into his own until they break into laughing fits.

the single moms of his kid’s friends are completely infatuated with him. like he’s constantly getting signals that they are interested in him. his kids are never without their friends just because the moms make playdates as an excuse to see him.

the kind of dad to get on the bike or skateboard with kids to teach them not to be scared. swings them extra high. races his kids and lets them win.

extra quick to pay for his kids and their friends tickets to go to concerts or school events, but he has to chauffeur. he’s also the ride so he blasts music to get the kids hyped before they even get there and then drives back in relieved silence while they sleep soundly in the backseats.

quietly cries in the middle of the night over how proud of himself and his babies he is.

seungsik

has no concept of the outside world as long as his kids are around. focuses on them twenty-four hours of the day and more if he could.

his kids are never late to anything, ever. doctor’s appointment? waiting in the parking lot. school day? the kids are sitting in the cafeteria with the ones eating breakfast just so he knows they’re not late. birthday party? he’s holding it at his house, there’s no way they’ll be late.

doesn’t do the parental approach where he asks his kids what they’re doing in life, but waits for them to tell him instead. doesn’t let a day go by where he doesn’t tell them they can be whatever they want to be in life.

forehead kisses all day long no matter their age. will do it in front of their friends, whoever they're dating, in public. he doesn’t care who’s looking as long as his kids know they’re loved.

goes absolutely berserk buying gifts. not expensive ones, but useful ones such as an instrument or something the kids have been asking for so it has meaning.

has at least five emergency kits on stock at all times. one in the car, three in the house, one in his bag.

constantly googling easy recipes for parents with busy schedules.

always has a smile on his face no matter what the situation with his kids are! is literally trying his best.

chan

less than fully equipped for the position, but is still up for the challenge that only has rewards.

stocks up on food like it’s an apocalypse and is constantly giving some sort of snacks to his kids. the “let me hold this french fry in front of the air conditioner in the car while i drive so i can hand it back to my child” kind of dad.

the field trip dad that always goes with the full class on trips and brings little packed lunches for everyone to eat.

holds family game nights in the middle of the week to let everyone stay up late on a school night and let off some steam while winning at video games, board games, physical games etc.

never has to argue with his kids or scold them. there’s some type of compromise like they give up something of theirs for a week and he does their chores so everyone is equal and things go back to normal.

has more kids in his house than he has kids.

thought taking on being a single parent would need more effort but he’s actually really steady with things under control. until a kids hit puberty, then that’s all out the window and he’s resorting to parenting books out of sheer panic.

leaves his door open at night even if his kids are teens just in case they need to run to his room.

sejun

the dad who specifically gets the shopping carts made into little cars just to make engine noises loudly through the entire store while receiving funny looks and laughter from his kids.

always has a kid hiding behind his legs out of shyness because they feel protected by his strong physical appearance.

is hysterical when he’s changing a baby in the bathroom and a grown man passing through has to run away because he can’t handle it. it’s also a dad-like ego boost to him.

went through second-hand embarrassment the entire time his kids had puberty because he too forgot what it was like to have acne and uncontrollable emotions.

tried teaching his kids how to drive by himself first. big open parking lot, and he still had to get a professional driving teacher a week later. his kid did fine, but he missed a pothole and realized he was in over his head thinking he could teach everything all by himself.

the dad that can buy almost anything embarrassing for a grown man to be carrying (like a huge teddy bear bigger than he is) but menstrual products make a blush run over his face! still gets them though.

can recite at least four scripts to movies by memory for at least twenty years after hearing them every day his kids were in his house.

gets a chain necklace with little charms to remember memories of being a hard working, single dad raising good kids and is still kicking ass.

hanse

his kids are late to everything. like formally late. so late that whatever they were meant to be at is almost over. his excuse? “at least they’re here, right?”

you know the ‘sees McDonalds and stops or doesn’t’ meme? hanse is the one who goes through the drive-through just to get a coffee and nothing else.

has not and never will force his kids to do their homework alone. believes that having him sit in their range to ask questions is more effective than them questioning if something is right/accurate all alone and going in with it incomplete because they didn’t know what to do.

his kids might be late, but they’ve got the best grades.

has never had to raise his voice because his kids like things calm and uncomplicated just like he does.

accidentally influenced his kids into his style. soft t-shirts, baggy jeans with chains, don’t even ask about his piercings because that’s the first thing they asked for when they turned into teenagers.

honestly over-thought about being a dad for such a long time when they were babies that everything that comes in life (being sick, mean kids, friends parting, classes being difficult, daily schedules) all came easy to him.

high fives/fist bumps his kids in public but will full on bear hug them behind closed doors while spinning them. they’ll be adults still getting hugged tightly and spun by their dad until he can’t lift them anymore.

doesn’t have a single moment where he’s alone. there’s a kid with their body wrapped around his ankle, it might not even be his own. someone is tugging at the trim of his shirt asking to be picked up, that one is his.

the dad at the park with his phone out trying to secretly film his kids playing so when they’re older he has something to look back on. also he takes a thousand pictures every day.

helmets. everyone is wearing a helmet or they must stand still and do nothing. he does not want to be the lone wolf dad sitting in the ER all afternoon with his kid suffering from a concussion because they forgot their helmet.

yes his kids are as accident prone as he is. yes he is aware of it. yes he has them all padded up and has carpeted stairs in his house because of it.

even better with his kids being older because he loves talking to them and getting to know what they’re turning out to be like. keeps them up late going through old photo books and watching home movies of when they were babies until they all pass out on the living room floor with the films still playing.

collects everything until he has more boxes in storage than storage space. baby teeth, the kid’s old homework so he can brag about how smart they are, embarrassing teenager pictures they wanted destroyed but he couldn’t part with, baby blankets, old and overused sports equipment, etc.

looks at his kids like they were just born yesterday. sparkling eyes while hugging them tight while they’re saying they can’t breath.

will hold his kids hands until they are grown adults and they start holding their own kids hands, mark his words.

subin

constantly gets told he looks like his kid’s older brother and not their dad.

coaches for his kids sports teams thinking it’s a good way to keep them close but he ends up falling in love with all of the kids and becomes a secondary father-figure to all of them.

always knows what his kids are thinking, when they’re lying, having a hard time, or just up in the clouds. and he always knows how to make things better.

the dad who bends down and gets on the kids level to speak to them instead of making himself appear bigger or more intimidating since he’s the parent.

scolds himself more often than he scolds the kids because he gives into getting them things like foods and snacks they asked for when he could be teaching them valuable life lessons about how they won’t always get what they want.

keeps up with dance choreography even if the song is more mature with his kids becoming teens just so he can dance at their school events and embarrass them to no end.

the dad that invites his adult kids back home during the holidays so he can see them sleeping in their old beds again.

is the embodiment of the :D face when he sees his kids off in the distance playing and knows he’s doing well with them.

*3 years later*

"Mom how do I look?" Jiah asked and Jinae turned around to look at her.

"The prettiest baby." Jinae said and Jiah made a sad face.

"I gotta go change quickly." She mumbled and turned around but Seungyoun stopped her.

"What do you mean change? Why?" He asked.

Jiah turned around to look at an equally confused Jinae.

"I can't look prettier than Mom today. It's her day. It's her wedding day." Jiah said and Seungyoun and Jinae burst out laughing.

"Wedding day.." Jinae mumbled happily.

That day when Sejun entered the diner and saw the lady startled and heard a hiccup and saw Jinae, he rushed to her, to comfort her since she was crying. Instead of telling him what was wrong, she kissed him which he pulled back from. Looking at her from that close, teary eyed but red face and trembling lips, he couldn't pull back again when she kissed him. When they pulled back for air, with their foreheads still touching, she couldn't stop saying how much she missed him, how much she hated seeing him with someone else and how sorry she was to turn him down when he asked her. They talked like that, pecking in between conversations and giggling until a loud thud made them look at the table where the diner lady had put their usual order - both pancakes and waffles and they laughed, slightly embarrassed acting like teenagers in love.

After that, they talked and talked almost as if compensating for the 10 years that they missed. Until Seungyoun called her to ask where she got stuck. He sounded really mad and then they looked at the time and she cursed because it was 4am and time really passed away too quickly and they stood up to leave and apologised profusely to the lady because she kept her diner open for them when she closed around 2am. They insisted on helping her close up but she shooed them away and when they left, she shouted,"Get married already!" And they only giggled looking at each other.

The door opened and Seungsik peeked in, "Can I come in?"

She waved him happily inside and he looked at her giving her the biggest smile,"You look absolutely gorgeous! Sejun is going to cry at the altar." And she laughed.

"So he should. If he doesn't, I'm not giving her away to him." Seungyoun said, coming behind Jinae and squeezing her shoulder.

"Like you did?" Jinae asked and Seungsik and she laughed at Seungyoun's pout.

"I still can't believe you said Yes to him when he asked you like that." Seungsik mumbled and they all laughed.

3 months ago, It was a regular night when they all- the boys and Jimin and Seungyoun decided to crash at her house and it was a 'huge sleepover' as Jiah called it.

The reality behind the plan was that Sejun wanted to propose to her and Subin and Seungsik had planned it all out for him. They were all to wake up and have breakfast together. Then Sejun would ask Jinae to go out for a movie and when they'll leave, the rest of them would decorate the house and set up a candlelight dinner for them. They would come to that, enjoy the dinner and then Sejun would ask her to marry him.

But did it go that way?

They all woke up and Jinae and Jimin came out from the room they slept in. All the boys crashed in the living room and they were all in different stages of waking up. She walked out in her cute pyjamas and slept in hair and bare face and he felt something tug at his heart. He looked at her walking to the open kitchen but she came back from half way and gave him a kiss and asked him what he wanted for breakfast.

Instead of answering what he wanted he asked her to marry him.

Everyone froze and turned to stare at him and she said huh.

He said loudly, "Marry me!"

Before she could respond, Subin and Seungsik were shouting at him for ruining their preparations, Jimin was congratulating her and Jiah was asking him if she can call him dad now.

But he had her eyes locked with her's and slowly she smiled and nodded and mouthed 'Yes' to him and he felt like the happiest man on earth.

"How could I have said no to him?" She said and Seungyoun gagged.

"How is he?" She asked Seungsik and he shrugged.

"He's excited and nervous. And dying to see you ofcourse." Seungsik said and she chuckled.

Soon Subin peeked in to tell her that everything was ready and they'll start any moment now. She nodded and Seungsik left after giving her a hug, Jiah with him who was supposed to be the flower girl and the ring bearer.

When seungyoun and Jinae were alone, he hugged her tightly.

"I'm so happy for you Jinae. You deserve this and so much more." He whispered and she heard a sniffle.

"Don't you cry on me now youn or I'll cry too and I don't think the makeup is waterproof." She said and they both shared a laugh, slightly teared up.

They heard a knock on the door and the music for the bride started and he gave her his hand which she took, smiling widely. She had her best man with him and was going to marry the love of her life and nothing could top that feeling.

They exited the small cottage rented and walked down to the beach. They had booked a private beach house for the wedding and only the closest people were to be there - the boys and their Significant others, Seungyoun and his wife, Aerin, and Jimin. Jinae and Sejun had personally invited the dining lady to the wedding but she had some private business to attend to and couldn't make it.

They reached the small way between the seats and everyone was standing and looking at her but her eyes were only for Sejun, her Sejun who was smiling at her with so much love in his eyes and his dimples on display, who was also slightly teary eyed.

"Glad he's crying or else I would have just turned around and dragged you with me." Seungyoun Whispered beside her and she couldn't help but chuckle.

Then there was her excited baby, Jiah, happily waving at her from beside Sejun. She had declared that before the ceremony she'll be from her mother's side but during the ceremony she'll be with Sejun. Jinae was slightly offended but seeing how happy Sejun was and how he almost cried after hearing the news, she might have accepted it. Jiah had been dying to call Sejun dad since the day he proposed to her and she would always get this giddy smile whenever she'd talk about it to Jinae and she couldn't have been happier.

Before reaching Sejun, she thanked her late husband in her heart, he was the reason she had Jiah and she hoped he would be as happy for her as she was feeling in the moment.

And then they had reached the Altar and Seungyoun was passing her hand to an ecstatic but close to crying Sejun who would not stop smiling at her.

The ceremony went too quickly and she felt like it didn't even register to her and then they were saying "I do" and then the priest said, "You may now kiss the bride." And Sejun Lifted the veil and then his hands were on her waist and he bent her down and kissed her and she could feel him smiling in the kiss, couldn't help herself from doing the same and they heard Whooping from among their friends and then he was pulling back, smiling and red faced and whispered to her, "Ready for the future Mrs. Lim?"

All she could do was nod before she felt tiny hands hugging her waist and she looked down to see Jiah and heard her say, "Congratulations Mom and finally, Dad!" And the smile Sejun had when he bent down to hug Jiah made Jinae think that she made the best decision ever.

She looked around at her small group of friends, and how much she adored them all and how happy she was at that exact moment, looking at the love of her life hugging her child with so much love, looking at her best friend standing hand in hand with his wife and all the other friends who have always been there for her whenever she needed.

And she had never thought she could feel so much love and happiness at one moment but here she was, looking forward to more of them with all these people in her life.

1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?

soooo many i’m pretty sure the first fan fiction i ever wrote was for the hunger games lol. then i wrote for one direction, 5sos, harry potter, marvel, the maze runner, narnia, teen wolf, supernatural, the 100, riverdale (don’t judge me season 1 was good) & probably more that i can’t think of right now

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?

a few!! the boyz, golden child, victon, tomorrow x together, ateez, cix, nct, seventeen & stray kids are what i have works up for

but i’m planning some things for enhypen and a few other groups at the moment too 👀

3. how long have you been writing?

ever since i learned how to write letters and words!!

i have a folder of all the stories i used to write when i was like four years old, i think i’ve gotten a bit better since then though lol

4. on which platforms do you post your stories

i only post my current works on tumblr, but back in the day i used to have thousands and thousands of notes on wattpad and quotev

not that my writing deserved it though, that was just the age of terribly written fanfic going viral al the time 😂

5. what is your favorite genre to write?

i like to write mostly fluffy things, but i really like having realistic angst, if that makes sense?? not necessarily something that will break your heart into pieces but something that i think would be normal to experience in love and life

i’d like to get better at writing mystery/action though! those are big struggles for me

6. are you a pantser or a planner?

1000000% planner, especially for social media aus!! i plan every single chapter of a social media au before i post the first chapter, and then i plan every post of the chapter as i go

sometimes i’m a bit of a pantser for written fics if i only have a vague idea and i want to let my mind wander, so i just start writing and see what happens

7. one-shot or multi-chapter?

i personally prefer writing a very long one-shot over multiple chapters, but i have yet to actually post written fics with many chapters on this blog

so who knows? i’ll have to try and see!

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

quality over quantity!! the perfect chapter length is specific to every piece

sometimes i feel more proud of and satisfied with a quick drabble or time stamp than a fic with 8k words! it always depends

9. what is your longest published story?

oh back in the day i was posting multiple chapters of 6k words to my fics on quotev every day, so probably around 120k words?

like i said, quality over quantity, though. i definitively included way too many details, like the characters skincare routine and such lmao

here on tumblr my longest fic is he loves me, he loves me not which is my tomorrow x together’s soobin x reader fic with 9.9k words! it’s also the best friends to lovers fic i think i’ve written on this blog, and i’m really proud of it 😌

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

i’ve really enjoyed working on and they were roommates! my the boyz’s jacob x reader social media au. the concept is really fun and the characters are really dynamic, so every chapter i write is enjoyable for me!

11. favorite request you’ve written and why?

again, my soobin x reader fic he loves me, he loves me not. i accepted 20 requests once and i think i only fulfilled about 2 or 3, unfortunately. that experience made me realise how bad requests are for my mental health and writing in general!

that fic is my favourite because a friend of mine actually requested it since we had been talking about this concept but i had never written for txt before so i was too shy to start. and also because i think i did a good job, tbh 💗

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

i don’t think so? i write a lot about people who have controlling parents in some of my stories, but not all of them. most of it is from experience with my mum, others are just to add more drama to the plot

13. current number of wips?

before my hiatus i had about 6 fics that i was working on! during my writing hiatus now, i actually have been getting a lot of inspiration through travelling and spending time with my boyfriend. so i think it’s double that by now!!

14. three things you have noticed about your writing?

i describe the way in which people say things a lot, such as the tone or the action they do before/during/after dialogue

gotta have a bit of comic relief if possible

strong and supportive friends are a must!!

15. a quote you like from a published story?

‘ “And if we get heartbroken?” you asked quietly.

Juyeon cocked his head to the side, his familiar eye-smile appearing as he realised you felt the same as him. “Then at least I know that I loved you.” ’ – from my the boyz juyeon x reader fic splash!

wrote this based on what my boyfriend said, almost verbatim, when i agreed to date him bc i was afraid of getting my heart broken. that’s why it’s special to me 🥰

ahhhh i don’t have my laptop on me right now so i don’t have any of my wips up!! i’ll try to edit this to add a quote when i have it

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr?

I always love writing so I wanted to share my creations and see how they fare in the world instead of keeping them for myself.

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?

I mostly write platonic relationships, fluff, slice of life, romance, comfort and a lot of AUs. It’s what I’m comfortable with and thrive in best! I do enjoy writing mystery, crime/murder and angst once in a while. Gotta let the dark side out too.

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?

Usually, it’s either member centric and or ‘X reader/ + Reader’, it’s not always romance when reader insert is involved :)

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?

Definitely friendship and slice of life! AU wise, I’m a sucker for the supernatural side: demons, angels, mythical creatures and mythology, they are all right up my alley. I also enjoyed writing crime AU and anything dark, nothing like unleashing the inner criminal legally through words… and occasionally being questioned, “What’s going on in that head of yours?”

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?

Tropes I love, I’m a sucker for friendship/platonic, slow-burn enemies to lovers, the cafe/bar occupation, single parent, the demon is suddenly your guardian angel, the breakup and the crime syndicate dynamics. Tropes I can’t stand on the other hand aren’t much, I don't actively read a/b/o dynamics, Hogwarts, hybrids and werewolf/vampire. It’s mostly AUs now that I listed them.

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?

Oh this is tough. I think it would have to be ATEEZ: ‘Supernatural Activities’ series. I’m proud of how ‘Dante’s Inferno’ & ‘Angels in the Streets’ turned out and they are well received too.

Who is your favorite person to write about?

Song Mingi of ATEEZ. Somehow writing about him always seems personal. Maybe it’s the similarities we carry. It seems like a lot of the time, the bias is the one who is most similar to us.

What inspires you to write?

Simply the need to escape reality and it’s an outlet to expel excess emotions I carry sometimes. All is well in the mind after I write and sleep.

What do you hope your readers take away from your work?

I hope it provides you an escape for a brief moment, I hope it makes you happy. I hope you could enjoy the world with a touch more romanticism, we are all a part of the aesthetic we see in the media and more. Sure it’s a tough world but there are good in it too.

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?

I take a break. It’s no use for me to push on when I hit a rough patch. I’ll read and do everything else except writing. It rarely happens as I’m constantly full of ideas, it’s the lack of motivation that keeps me from creating.

What do you think makes a good story?

To be honest, if I enjoyed it, it’s good. I’m a simple person with simple pleasures.

What is your writing process like?

Messy 😂 There’s no getting around it. I would rewrite a paragraph three times if I don’t like it, delete a thousand words, scrap a different story to incorporate it into another. I don’t always start from the beginning either. A writing piece could take anywhere within several minutes, a few hours to days, weeks and months. It all depends on my motivation and how busy work is keeping me from writing. (Psst, it’s mostly the former).

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?

Yes. Writing in the fanfiction world, more often than not, we are already given much of the relationship dynamics and setting. (Unless it’s AU then that's a whole different animal, it might as well be an original prose). In original prose, we have to weave most, if not all, of the world and characters building… I hope I understood the question right...

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?

Maybe. It’s usually the other way around. I have thoughts to repurpose an abandoned original story for a fic series. Highly unlikely that I’ll actually do it.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?

A lot! Please! It’s the biggest motivation for us content creators to keep creating! You have no idea how fast my hand reaches for my phone every time tumblr notifications pop up, hoping for a reblog and comments in the tags.

What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?

My mutuals reblogging my works. They’re exposed to new eyes and the readers, on the other hand, find a new blog.

Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?

Yes. Fanfic writers are as important to the fandom community as the rest of the content creators are.

Do you think art can be a medium for change?

Absolutely. Art is a fantastic gateway to many things.

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?

Only when I decided to take requests which happens like once a year and maybe even less.

Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?

No, I don’t think so. No one has asked me to clarify any of my writings. One anon used to send me asks about world expansion and said anon turned into a dear friend.

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?

NOPE. DON'T LET THEM KNOW. I WON’T LET THEM KNOW. NEVER. Leave my virtual writing world be. *puts ‘do not cross’ yellow tape all over*

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?

Please leave me some feedback, even keyboard smashes are fine, I can translate those. Don’t be shy to leave me asks if you want to chat, ramble, or get something off your chest. This is a safe place for you, an escape from reality.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?

Don’t be afraid. As hellish this platform is, it'll help you grow in the writing department. I know this is not the best advice but you have to try to see the result.

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?

I don’t think so. There were moments of “Why do I even bother?” but it happens and will happen again in the future but no regrets.

Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?

I do! Most of the ones who were there from the beginning aren’t there anymore but it’s alright. Their lives outside of Tumblr are always more important than anything else. I don’t have to heart to unfollow their pages. My current handful of mutuals are an amazing bunch too! The sheer talent and creativity they possessed are out of this world. I love seeing their posts outside of the writing world, their personalities shine through and my heart feels fuzzy whenever I see it. Though I don’t interact often with most of them, I adore them all and consider them good friends.

Since we, writers, create in order to find escape and or brush up our skills or simply for the sake of creating. As we broaden our skill sets, “Necessity is the mother of invention. Failure is the mother of success.” Common, I know, but it’s comforting to know that failure can be a motivation to do better. Don’t stay down, always rise again.
