okay guys time for me to gush about some music i really like

FALL OUT BOY is just fucking fantastic okay i really like their lyrics because it's just really poetic?? like in Sugar We're Going Down they say "loaded God complex, cock it and pull it" and it's commonly misheard as "gun complex" because of course it IS a gun but they say God complex because a gun is choosing whether someone lives or dies and that's a goddamn God complex right there and FUCK THAT'S SO WITTY what is this AP English come on ugh and they have a wonderful sound and it's lovely and emotional and sometimes real intense and i just i'm gonna vomit feelings everywhere (also from their new album the titular song Save Rock and Roll one of the motifs is the line "You are what you love, not who loves you" and fuck every time they say it i just want to cry all over myself because i just...yes thank you)

HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD i don't even know what to say because half of the time it's about drugs and sex and partying but then the other half of the time it's about holy fuck some really intense emotions and they make a LOT of allusions to God and disillusionment with the church but also trying to reconnect and then real dark feelings of abandonment and hopelessness and a lot of self-blame and holy fucking sHIT ALL OF THEIR MUSIC IS REALLY CONFLICTED BUT STRONG AND INTENSE AND SOMETIMES JUST REALLY FUN and all of those guys are fuckin' crazy what a wonderful lot if you want to party or want to vent some crazy negative emotions they are your best bet

SHOSTAKOVICH is actually this modern russian composer that composed in the Stalin days and during the cold war and stuff and like he was a proponent of women's rights and fought antisemitism and for gay rights and stuff and WOW HOW MODERN for a guy that died in like 1975 and he lead a really really rough life because he was inspired by a lot of modern composers like Mahler and stuff but under communism and facism he was repressed and told to stop doing that shit (like Stalin saw one of his operas and fuckin' LAUGHED AT IT and then had a whole article written SLANDERING THE FUCK out of Shostakovich's reputation and it took him awhile to recover from that) and like my favorite quartet piece was written by him and it was his Quartet No 8 that he wrote both as a tribute to all victims of facism and for himself as an epithet because he planned to kill himself because he found out he had a really rare form of polio and also everything else (he ended up not killing himself but DAMN) and the whole quartet is fucking INSANE and man all of the dude's music is written with SO MUCH GODDAMN EMOTION and it's a mix of russian conservatism while being as modern and daring as he could without getting shot and man basically all his music is real dark and cool, even the lighter stuff has a dark edge to it because of what he was going through
