Tennis-Djokovic ready to help son follow in his footsteps
Tennis-Djokovic ready to help son follow in his footsteps
Novak Djokovic said he will do everything he can to support his son Stefan if he decides to follow in his footsteps but the Serb wants to make sure the seven-year-old does not feel pressured to pursue a career in tennis. Footage of the 20-time Grand Slam winner training with his son circulated on social media earlier this week and Djokovic also posted side-by-side pictures of them hitting a…

🎥 Wimbledon via SpoTV Indonesia
Stellar returns coming from Tim resulted into being able to break and win the whole match! (benefitting on Nikoloz's errors, it seems).
Will face either Novak Djokovic or Miomir Kecmanovic in the fourth round. This is your breakthrough, Tim. Good luck and keep moving forward!
(Also petition for the hard court season tourneys to give Tim wildcards? Thanks!).

Tim van Rijthoven set for Novak Djokovic showdown after win over Nikoloz Basilashvili
Tim van Rijthoven set for Novak Djokovic showdown after win over Nikoloz Basilashvili
It is, to be sure, the stuff of movies: An oft-injured guy ranked outside the top 100, making his Grand Slam debut thanks to a wild card, knocks out two seeded players on his way to a fourth-round matchup at Wimbledon against none other than No. 1 Novak Djokovic, the three-time defending champion. We can guess what Hollywood might do with that script. Tim van Rijthoven, a 25-year-old Dutchman,…

Wow, what a win for Van Rijthoven. Congrats on his final run at his home tournament! A bit unlucky for Felix, but it's "just" a 250, so.. Making semis is still a good preparatation for Wimbledon.

WAAN - Echo Echo - jazztronica duo from the Netherlands, via Sonar Kollektiv
WAAN represents the musical marriage of seasoned saxophonist Bart Wirtz and keyboard wiz Emiel van Rijthoven. As a pair of self-confessed tech nerds hailing from The Netherlands, their bromance was a slow burning one, but nevertheless their eventual collaboration fulfilled a dream that they’d both held close since first working together back in 2010.
The album’s title reflects the relationship between WAAN’s two members. They are the echo of each other’s echo - a symbiotic and never ending musical relationship. The appellation also suggests that you’ll definitely need to listen to this collection of songs at least twice to discover the myriad of subtle details and influences that are on show. Influences as disparate as Floating Points, Belgian band Stuff, BadBadNotGood and Eddie Harris. Echo Echo is far more complex than just being a dance music influenced jazz record. Co-producer Oscar de Jong encouraged the pair to play freely as part of a jazz group and then add the electronic elements. As a result the album owes as much to Duke Ellington and Lalo Schiffrin as it does NERD and The Eurythmics! We hope you return to it again and again. Artwork by Bráulio Amado

Had my nephews first birthday today (yay!) - I got him a Bumba drumkit, haha.
Disclaimer: Don’t worry, my sister and her boyfriend like that their son loves drumming. In fact, anything musical is stimulated.
Ignored F1 all day, because I wanted to watch it postponed. Wish I hadn’t. Frustrating stuff, to say the least. But! it got me through the time waiting for Van Rijthoven vs. Djokovic, so all’s well that ends well.

Australian Open MS Q1: Leandro Riedi def. Tim van Rijthoven [8] 6-3, 3-0 ret. Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 Wide World of Sports Australia
Before Tim retired due to his injury, it was apparent that Riedi was solid throughout the match, and he did not look back since. There were no apparent signs or anything on Tim, but it is better not to risk it before everything gets worse.
Somehow, 61% of Tim's first serves were in, 3% less than Riedi's. He had one more ace, though, despite Riedi double-faulting thrice.
The return game completely made the difference in this match. Riedi's aggressive approach resulted in the 14 winners he scored, one of the notable ones came in a break point and its conversion in the first set. He went after Tim's shots so accurately, until he erred most of his backhand responses, and even had no chance to slice it out, resulting in Tim's 17 errors. Furthermore, the paced aggression paid off with a 60% break points conversion for Riedi, while despite winning 100% of his net points, it was not enough for Tim to counter Riedi's baseline-oriented rallies initiation.
In the second qualifying round, Riedi will face Giulio Zeppieri, who defeated Santiago F. Rodriguez Taverna 6-3, 6-4. Would be exciting to see Riedi going all-offensive on Zeppieri, judging by their current forms, leading to it's Riedi's section to take by the end of the third qualifying round. Should be neat!
