Thanks for sending an ask!! My mind completely went blank when trying to think of something for reunited after a long time, so I’ll do saying I love you without saying it!!

There is something in the way Shark talks, and walks, and behaves that never fails to fascinate Astral. Most of all, the way he acted when it came to people. And honestly, he couldn’t blame him. He himself found humans odd, too. But, honestly, Shark took the cake. (More like bit a huge chunk out of it and left the rest on the table, really)

He faintly recalls where his fascination started. Astral grew to detest him from the start, really. After all, his first memory of him was the purple-haired bastard terrorizing Yuma in a duel. What made humans hate each other so? Why did Shark have so much hatred in his heart? He was 14, after all. Teenagers just seem to hate everything, don’t they.

But Astral supposes he’s become fond of him as the time passed. He can’t deny it any longer, or else it would linger.

There are many things about humans that Astral does not understand. But Shark, just by being himself, is an enigma. Even to the people he seems to love the most, he showed little to no respect to. Not even that sister of his, but he supposes it’s natural when it comes to siblings.

Astral is lucky that he has Yuma, because without him he would not know what love felt like. He would not know the joy of being hugged or kissed or told “I love you”, for it would all be a distant, forgotten memory. But Yuma’s kindness, and acts of love do not seem to move Shark, at most times.

He remembers when Yuma would endlessly pester Shark to duel, even when the key that gave him life was at stake. But perhaps Shark took pity on him, letting Yuma keep it. The way him and Yuma behaved was cute, in a way. Because no matter how much they fought, they were always attached by the hip.

No matter how much Shark seemed to call him “stupid”, or a “bastard”, or any other vulgarity, he still seemed to love him. And Astral can’t help but feel jealous at times, jealous of what they have. He wishes he were physical, to be of flesh and blood, so then Shark would like him just as he liked Yuma. Or to hate him. For Shark to acknowledge him was all he craved, honestly.

Astral can’t help but stare at him at times. He has this cat-eyed stare that Yuma always criticized him for, but he just couldn’t help himself at times.

He is tall and athletic, but ever so starved. His sunken eyes and silky, deep violet hair is haunting to him, in a way. Even more haunting than the absolute chompers stuck in his face that he called teeth. There’s such an disquiet to him at times, and Astral can’t seem to get enough.

But he supposes he’s been staring too long, Shark can feel the burning of another persons eyes against him, snapping his head towards Astral quickly, “Why are you looking at me?” Shark growls, although his voice not above his regular tone, “Oh, uhm.” For just once in his life, Astral is unsure of what to say, “Nothing, sorry.”

“I know you have something on your mind. Spit it out.” And he doesn’t find it in himself to take it as an insult. “Really, it’s nothing.”

“Fine.” The tension is beginning to become so thick that you could cut it with a knife, or however the saying goes, “Tch.. You’re just like Yuma. He stares at me just like that.”

And Astral can’t quite find it in him to take offense to it. “Really?” His voice is full of wonder and awe, “Wh- of course you are! He must be rubbing off on you, I swear.” But he doesn’t stop there, he’s continuing.

Astral doesn’t quite listen to him from then. The way he mouths off at him so passionately is so endearing to him. Adorable, even. He’s like the angriest, cutest little puppy, and he isn’t quite sure why. Astral just wants to pick him up and pet him.

"I like the way you are when you’re angry.” Astral cuts him off mid sentence, and honestly it doesn’t matter, Sharks beginning to forget what he was even saying, “What?” Shark is flushed, blushing from cheek to cheek.

“There’s something I like about it, just like the way you duel. And the way you refuse to show how much you care about others, even though you do.”

“Are you making fun of me?” He swallows, eyebrows furrowed, although averting his gaze. “No, why would I?”

“Whatever.” The silence is so evident between them, the second seeming too much like hours.

But, finally, Shark opens his mouth, “I like the way you duel, too..”

“There. that wasn’t so hard, was it?”

“Shut up!”

happy new year, everyone!!!

this year has been amazing from my big yugioh zexal rewatch and getting into unawareshipping and participating in zexal month, to going to the eras tour and seeing my favorite album (1989) get rerecorded, to laughing about the fake camp cretaceous movie and then rejoicing over the real camp cretaceous spin-off series, to finally fully committing to being a doll collector/customizer and finishing my mattel jurassic collection, and of course finally watching it’s always sunny in philadelphia which has changed my life for the better.

i’ve made so many friends in all the above fandoms. every community has been so welcoming and i feel a true sense of belonging with y’all here on tumblr, ao3, and whenever i pop my head into a discord server.

2023 was a transition year for me from things not being to great to things being very optimistic. this year has led me to do a lot of self reflection and i’ve cut out things that were hurting me to make room for what makes me happy. i can’t wait to talk to and reblog from you guys in 2024!!

Favorite ZEXAL ships and characters?

I like a few Zexal ships but the ones that I'm really attached to at the moment are Mizakai/Galaxymastershipping(I think that's the name? Mizeal/Mizar and Kaito/Kite), Unawareshipping (Astral and Shark/Ryoga) and fathershipping (Kazuma and Vetrix/Byron)! I do also occasionally ship a OC of mine with Astral too :3

As for my favorite characters? Astral is my all-time favorite but is closely followed by Alito/Alit, Shark/Ryoga, Rio and Haruto/Hart!! I am also very.. um... Partial to Don Thousand for reasons I won't explain 😇

Astral does not expect to fall in love with anyone, after all, his goal was to collect the number cards and regain his memories. Nothing more. But.. he did. And it was puzzling.

And to his surprise, it was not with Yuma. He did love Yuma, of course, how couldn't he? He was endlessly lovable, even if he tended to get sidetracked with the most benign things. But, he did not love (well, what he thought was love) him, for his affection belonged to Shark. (Or Reginald, which he seemed to hate being called).

He didn't know why he liked him. It was odd, frankly, for Astral to hold such a liking for this purple, flaming ball of aggressiveness.

For starters, Shark was reactionary, he was quiet, he always pushed Yuma away, and the worst of it, he was a bit of a tsundere. He abhorred those things. What was wrong with Astral?

It was the same for Shark, and it came as a surprise to him. They'd barely ever spoken, just a few passing words and glances. But why couldn't he get him off of his mind? It was clearer for Shark than ever for Astral.

Shark isn't romantic, and he isn't charming in the least bit. At least that's what he thinks. He's barely even affectionate to the people he loves most.

But, even with his self-doubts, the tension is getting to be too much. The both of them know it, hell, Yuma might even know it too. It's suffocating, whenever Yuma comes around with Astral (whose always stuck to him by the hip), he doesn't know whether to say hello or to blurt out that he likes him.

He was tired of watching him from afar. Shark absolutely detests these feelings.

So Shark finally does something about it.

He invites Yuma and Astral to go out and get lunch together. He knows Astral will tag along. After all, wherever Yuma goes, he seems to go.

Astral doesn't eat much. Anything, really. Nobody can see him anyway, and Shark would NOT go through the embarrassment of ordering for a blue ghost (He's sure Yuma would, though). But, Shark hasn't eaten much, too. There he is, quietly sipping on his cappuccino, all while Yuma talks and talks like the ADHD-brained, lovable fool he is. Astral is sitting next to him, intently listening. it's the middle of the day and barely anyone is around.

But, Yuma suddenly gets up from his seat, "Ah, I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back!" Yuma explains, "Maybe you shouldn't have asked for so many refills." Astral replies, eyeing Yuma's half-finished glass of soda on the table, among 3 other empty ones with half-melted ice miserably dying at the bottom. "Shush!" And then he's off.

It's almost like the stars are aligning in his favor. Yuma is gone, and they're all alone.

"What's your problem with me?" Shark swallows, breaking the silence between the two. His heart almost jumped out of his chest right then and there.

Astral always remains neutral, in most cases. He has always been a sort of injured baby deer, if it made any sense, "What problem? I don't see the problem."

"You know what I'm talking about." He huffs, Astral's studying his face closely. "There's no need to be gentle about it, Reginald." Shark tenses up at the use of his first name, "Do you love me?" How could he have known? Did he make it obvious? There were so many questions swarming in his head, buzzing like flies and honeybees.

"Fine. We can call it love." He's sweating, shaking, almost. Shark doesn't even realize it at first, but he's flushed and turning pink.

"Yuma will be back soon. Kiss me or leave it."

Straight to the point, huh?

 Quickly, Shark grabs Astrals illuminating blue shoulders. He pulls him close and smashes his lips against his. He does it so fast, Astral would scoff about it if he wasn't being kissed.

Astral doesn't feel at all like he expected. His skin is cold, almost as if it had been freezing for years. The soft glow that emanated off of him was tingly on his skin. It only adds to Sharks' desperation, and Astral's too. Their tongues dance in a rhythm, each movement an unspoken declaration of their desire. It was a kiss that spoke of longing and connection, a kiss that transcended words and touched the deepest recesses of their souls.

Shark's lips are warm, the lips of humans were always so comforting to Astral but he never knew how to put his ghostly finger on it. Shark has that coffee smell on him too, it's intoxicating, almost sweet as a flower.

And finally, Shark pulled away. He needed to breathe, Astral did not.

"Hey, what'd I miss?" Yuma walks back to the table.

It was like nothing even happened. How did Astral do it? The afterglow of the kiss is plastered on Shark's face. "Nothing, me and Reginald were just having fun while you were gone." He replies.

Shark will so get Astral back for this. But not now, later.

Here’s a weird (mostly Unaware-) Zexal thought...

This is not to denounce the importance of Shark’s bond with Yuma, but when they duel and Shark takes a hit for Yuma or protects him, what if he does it because he’s conscious of Astral’s presence? I mean obviously Shark does what he does because he feels he owes Yuma, is friends with him, all that jazz... But Shark is a big brother. A protective big brother. What if knowing Astral was bound to Yuma--which Shark might’ve interpreted as Astral having a certain level of helplessness--motivated him to direct attacks away from the duo and onto himself, despite knowing Yuma can handle a hit?

He knows Astral’s life is tied to Yuma’s life points...there’s no way he hasn’t taken something that important into consideration.
