Intermission: College Student Needs Roommates!

Okay, so she would probably be better off without one/prefer this not to happen. But if you get everything you want, Dom, then where is the character development? xD

Here are our candidates:

PAKA'A UHA: music lover, child of the ocean, goofball, gregarious*

If you want to be nice to Dom, he would probably be the option to pick. He's pretty chill, has a compatible sense of humour with the GOOFBALL trait, and is a gender nonconforming Sim who could be a reference to how mermaids are often used as an allegory for being trans (also many Polynesian cultures traditionally have genderfluid/nonbinary roles).

FAIZ JALEEL: active, loves outdoors, romantic, alluring*

Don't really know much about him, tbh. Seems nice enough. Pretty eyes. A hairstyle that reminds me of that one scene in There's Something About Mary. Plus with the ROMANTIC trait, potential to make a mess of whatever Dom and Kiyoshi have (or not) going on? Or at least some overnight guests maybe.

CELENE LOPEZ: neat, geek, outgoing, gregarious*, werewolf ally

This one feels like a bit of a cheat since I possibly already know her ROOMMATE QUIRKS, unless they change from one save to another. In a different save she was blasting loud music and continuously baking those Level 1 white cakes, but was otherwise alright. Although maybe not so much here, as the stereo is in Dom's room?

WOLFGANG WILDER: gloomy, creative, bookworm, muser*

Ah, the famed Moonwood Mill librarian and no connection at all to published author Vulfgang Mulder. I couldn't really figure out whether he and Dom got along. One of the very first things he did was TRICK WITH HAND BUZZER, which of course Dom loved, but every now and then I saw those negative relationship moodlets - possibily because he was in werewolf form and Dom doesn't yet have the WEREWOLF ALLY trait. Obviously as a werewolf there is a potential for chaos. However I think that Wolfgang starts the game with a decent werewolf level (PRIME maybe?) and as a member of the Collective, he's not supposed to be unpleasant towards Sims in his beast form in order to uphold pack values.

Below the cut, several that didn't make the cut (whomp whomp).

MEAN MERMAID (KALAMAINU'U IONA): In spite of her CHIEF OF MISCHIEF aspiration, her and Dom did not get along at all, probably due to her MEAN trait. And tendency to kick over Dom's trashcan.

At least she finally gave Dom a chance to use the BOMBADIERS AWAY mischief interaction.

Totally convincing "oh, oops?" from Dom there.

She then came back with Paka'a, looking positively thrilled to be there too. Also a merperson using an umbrella - highly sus.

Pro tip: if you're trying to make a good impression on a potential roommate, it's probably not the best idea to be mean to the other applicants straight off the bat.

I love how chill Paka'a looks here. They probably know each other from Sulani, so he's just like "oh yeah, that's Kala. We have a running bet to see how long she can go without insulting anyone." Dom sent her packing regardless.

THIS RANDOM GENERATED TOWNIE

Likely from the Snowy Escape pack based on what I recall from the name alone. Could even be the same townie that Dom and Kiyoshi both had beef with during their date.

Anyway, somehow she made an even worse impression than Kala. All she did was kick over Dom's trash can, rifle through romance novels only to leave them lying around, then - final straw - helped herself to all of Dom's beloved plants that she can't even sell at the moment, thanks to the Watcher's stringent set of rules.

After Kala was kind enough to be the test subject of the BOMBADIERS AWAY interaction, Dom threw a few handfuls of those at her then kicked her butt for good measure, making Dom two out of two in terms of her Battle Royale victories. For a Sim with the CLUMSY trait, she seems to be decent at throwing down.

ELOISE HIDDLESTIX (Thriftea owner), UKUPANIPO HEKEKIA and NALANI MAHI'AI

Aka: "maybe Sulani has changed their protected species laws because every single merperson is just fleeing there." Nothing wrong with any of them per se - I just wasn't feeling it. Also Dom and her friends all knew Eloise when they were still teens so it would feel weird if any behaviour that Darling Walsh would disapprove of occurred.

November 24 - Part 1

Today is Maira's birthday party. It's being held at the community center in San Sequoia, turns out Rahmi has some cousins there and they paid to rent the build for the party. Thankfully Thomas has stepped up and offered to pay for half of everything - without being asked. Maybe he's trying to turn over a new leaf but I personally don't trust him. I will keep my opinions to myself though unless asked.

My daughter decided to crawl for the first time this morning while I was on the loo. I yelled for Caleb and he rushed in to take a picture and record her crawling.

I didn't really want to leave after that, but I said I would be at the party - plus I'm meeting Naya in San Sequoia to take AJ to the party while she goes to check out the fashion scene in town. I don't mind taking my nephew to the party at all.

AJ chatted up the birthday girl after we arrived at the community center, so I went inside to find Rahmi. I didn't know if she needed help with any finishing touches or not.

I couldn't help but notice the way Ukupanipo was looking at Rahmi but maybe it's just my wishful thinking. So I stayed back and asked Rashidah instead if there was anything I could help with.

After helping put up the last of the balloons, I went to join AJ in the playroom.

"Aunt Vera?" AJ asked me sweetly. 

I almost narrowed my eyes because it reminded me of Apollo when he was little and wanted to play with my toys. "Yes, AJ?"

"When are you going to have another baby? I like playing with Este but I want another baby to play Mr. Stork with." AJ told me before making the toy in his hand making a roaring noise.

I wasn't even sure how to answer that. Este is enough right now, I wasn't sure if I could handle being pregnant and chasing her around once she learns to walk. "Uh....Mr. Stork?" I asked dumbly, trying to divert his attention from the question. I was saved by a little girl that came into the room and asked AJ to play with her.

Her name is Alora Prescott. She and AJ really seemed to hit it off.

Went ahead and did all of the mermaids! I have never played with the mermaids, mainly because they seemed so unfinished compared the the mermaids in Sims 3.

They, and spellcasters, need a facelift tbh. Anyways, in my head canon mermaids are all bisexual and have no body hair whatsoever. That said, I friggin' love Kalamainu'u, she's so intense looking and I really like her body shape!

The Grant Legacy - Generation 2 - The Second Act - Part 2

The Ambrose Household - Brindleton Bay

After Garrett returned from rehab and with the impending birth of their first grandchild, Denise and Garrett decided to move the family to Brindleton Bay to be closer to Jillian. Even though Garrett has returned to his job as a Freelance Article Writer, Denise has decided to keep her job. It fills her with a sense of fulfilment she was missing, though she still loves being a Mother. Garrett attends weekly AA meetings and has be doing well since his time at rehab. He knows what he stands to lose, especially with his family expanding soon.

Things were shaky between the couple at first when Garrett returned home but the two seem to be stronger than ever now. They are even working on buying the house they now live in. The only downside is, they didn't know who the house used to belong to years ago. Dakota had quite the reaction when he and Jillian pulled up to Vera's old house to help Jillian's parents and brother move in.

Andrew reached his young adult years and graduated high school early with a offer to join the Athletic career due to his accomplishments in high school. He jumped at the chance and now works out in his room everyday staring at posters of his celebrity crush. He knows he'll never meet her but that doesn't stop him from dreaming. He's excited to be an Uncle soon and his trying to step out into the dating world for the first time, since he focused mostly on sports in school.

The Watson Household - Hendford-on-Bagley

Rashidah has also entered the young adult world, graduating from high school with straight A's. She had scholarship offers but declined them in order to help her Mom and siblings with the family farm. This has sadden her Mom, Rahmi, greatly. She feels her daughter is giving up her chance at not only further education but the college experience to help her. She will admit without her ex -husband Thomas there, it's been harder to take care of everything but that doesn't mean one of her children should have to give up their youth to help. Rashidah doesn't see it that way and tells her Mom she can still have experiences without going to college. She's gotten a babysitting job and babysits little Este Vatore, as she offered to Vera months ago, every now and then when Caleb and Vera want to go out for a date.

Imran has become a teenager, which has allowed him to help out more around the farm. His Mom reminds him that his homework comes first and he's been trying his best to follow that. He and Maira still go spend time with their Father, Thomas, who now lives in Chestnut Ridge. Their father is renting a small farm there, trying to start his life over.

Rahmi hasn't dipped her toe back into the dating world just yet but she has been getting closer to Ukupanipo Hekekia as a friend. She knows Vera introduced them months ago in hopes they would fall for each other but it may not happen, time will tell.

The Frenz Household - Henford-on-Bagley

Dominic and Zoe have been married little over a year now and despite their trying, they have failed to conceive a child. They decided to go to a reproductive specialist and learned Dominic's sperm count is low. It's not impossible, just more difficult, to have a baby. They are considering adoption if they don't get pregnant within the next year.

Zoe is keeping busy helping Vera run the Vet clinic. She enjoys her job and her patients very much. Dominic is also enjoying his job as a Wildlife Enthusiast in the Conservationist career. He has a passion for nature and animals, he felt the career fits him perfectly.

The Blake Household - Forgotten Hollow

Last month, Annalise finally let Lurch sweet talk her into letting him move back in as her butler. It seems a bit odd, since they are also courting but she admits - it is nice to have him around again. Lurch has even let the "M" word slip through his lips recently which is a bit scary for Annalise. Her last marriage ended terribly, though oddly she has found herself providing medical advice to her ex-husband, Asa. The two have reached a understanding with each other, though neither of them would call it anything beyond that.

Annalise has been promoted to the Chief of Staff at the hospital she works at with Joey Gates. It's a huge honor for her, despite some of the arguments that a vampire shouldn't be in such a role. Annalise realizes there will also be opposition against her in the medical field, she has stopped worrying about it. She continues to bond and train with her sister, Liberty.

Lurch is happy to be with his Annalise again, though he's grateful to Lilith Vatore and Jackson Kumar for the time he spent as their butler. He's even become friends with Jackson, that friendship has led him to ask Jackson certain questions when it comes to being turned into a vampire. Annalise is strictly against turning Lurch but can't she see he wants to be with her forever?
