so some of you may have already seen this, but for those of you who havent:

Twenty One Pilots dropped one of those 10 hour relaxation videos on YouTube with Ned. obviously, because of the merch drop a couple days ago, everyone freaked out (and still are freaking out) about it and analyzing every second of it.

easter eggs:

TRASH

above the fireplace that Ned is sitting by, there are two glowing yellow speakers that look like eyes. they look like Trash’s eyes and/or Keons’ and Tyler’s eyes in The Outside MV.

5:17:00

for the first five hours of the video, Ned is asleep. at 5:17:00, he wakes up and a TV that he is sitting in front of turns on. that day, May 17th, 2015, is the release of Blurryface. since Ned opens his eyes at 5:17:00, it references the release of Blurryface, the beginning of the Dema storyline, and the eye opening GIFs.

TV

when Ned opens his eyes at 5:17:00, the TV starts playing a video of Tyler in his recording studio. the TV also plays the Christmas Saves The Year MV and a couple more that i cant quite figure out (tell me if you do!). and the last clip looks like Dema burning!

NOTE

on the wall, there’s a note to Ned from Ned (they’re all named Ned). it says:

Ned,

the missing letters are A, D, A, T, E.

A DATE.

but what date? 5/17/24 (May 17th, 2024)?

hay im . i'm working on a lore doc for all the tøp shit i know if you want to take a look id rly appreciate it :)

it isnt 100% complete yet and itll probably take a little while to finish but im getting a little chunk of research done every day B)

so far ive covered most of the blurryface lore that im aware of, vialism, trench, ned, dmaorg, blurry's twitter account and the main trench trilogy mvs

ive already started on drafts for scaled and icy and some more trench stuff, but please let me know if there's anything i should include/remove or even just spelling/grammar errors etc! id appreciate it lots :)

the hype // the outside

"Sometimes I feel cold, even paralyzed" (he is visibly v cold, his face and hair are even a little frosty. he also struggles to move a little, as if paralysed)

"Nice to know my kind will be on my side" (Josh, a fellow bandito (in the role of Torchbearer), which is especially notable because Tyler has been in Dema for so long before this, away from all them)

"And you know you're a terrible sight" (he covers his eyes, and obviously looks a little worse for wear (seeing as hes been drifting in the ocean for god knows how long) but i dont think thats really what this lyric means)

"It might take some friends..." (Josh, the Neds)

"...and a warmer shirt" (clothes have been set out which i have many theories for, as either the Neds knew they were coming and got them ((but from where??)) or they may have been left there for josh or tyler to come back to when they escaped dema (but the escape took longer than thought as they have bf-era logos))

"But you don't get thick skin without getting burnt" (one of the most notable things about Josh's character is the torch he carries (hes literally the torchbearer) so Tyler holding it alone might mean something (symbolic?), and the fact that the Neds are sat round a big campfire)

"I don't know which way I'm going, but I can hear my way around" (Tyler looks around for Josh, but it could seem like he's looking around because he's lost. Around this point, music from Migraine (iirc) also starts playing faintly leaning into the hearing your way around)

Of course, there are some things that don't fit this as I basically slapped this all together this afternoon. Like, for example, what would 'the hype' be in this context? Dema? The bishops? that would make sense ig, but not be very obvious.

Theory/headcanon about the black paint

Note: This is an elaboration on the theory in which Clancy used to be a Bishop in training, which I heard via @mr_brightside_ in the Clique Discord.

First, let's establish what we know. The black paint is worn by Bishops, and it is a tool that Bishops smear onto citizens in order to control them.

With that in mind, let's focus on the appearances of the black paint during live shows.

During Scaled and Icy era shows, Clancy is putting the black paint on himself in a ritualistic manner. During this time, he is being used as a propaganda tool for the Bishops. But when else did we see Clancy put the paint on himself?

During Blurryface era shows. Which may represent Clancy's life before he requested to be taken outside of Dema. It's been established that Blurryface is definitely part of the canon, since we see Clancy being taken outside the city walls in the music video for Heavydirtysoul. Blurryface shows Clancy before he knew about the world outside DEMA, when he outwardly embraced the aesthetics of the Bishops by wearing the black paint and sometimes a bright red beanie, but inwardly wished for a different life.
