Sachiko M, Nakamura and Yoshihide work their strains of experimentalism into the sounds of the everyday, intermingling life with digital buzz and vice versa. One’s experience is totally dictated by circumstance; so life shifts, as one never lives the same sounds twice, so no two listens of Good Morning Good Night are alike.

Around 2 months ago I became aware of no-input mixing board music. It is what it sounds like it is. There are no instruments in the traditional sense. This music is made from largely forcing electronics on itself in a way. The method is done with hardware but I am trying to learn more about how it works because I had an incident in software around a decade ago.

One of the songs I created in a software DAW unpredictably made itself feedback loop for about 3-4 minutes. I am not sure what caused it. It’s possible that I didn’t know enough about what I was doing. I’d say it was a happy accident. The software *is* supposed to behave in the same way that hardware does.

La musique d'Alan ( aka Anla ) Courtis oscille toujours entre art sonore, musique électroacoustique, drone, noise, entre improvisation et composition. Romain Perrot est un (non)musicien touche-à-tout performeur bruitiste autodidacte, improvisateur sans frontière, fondateur - en tant que VOMIR - de la pratique et philosophie connue sous le nom de Harsh Noise Wall, concepteur et exécutant de la ShitFolk, papa de Broken Impro series, déployant en parallèle une activité plastique sous le nom d'ABSURDUM, membre de JOAN JETT FANCLUB, M_D_R, Falot, Rompral Eltron, Descendeur ( entre autres ) ... .. 

LENA CIRCUS +HIROKO KOMIYA fr / jp Intimisme psychédélique ? Nous sommes ravis de recevoir pour la troisième fois cette collaboration récurrente entre le trio parisien et la performeuse japonaise ( évoluant la plupart du temps dans l'univers butô ) oùune synergie et une entente exceptionnelles se mettent en œuvre pour aboutir à faire naître un univers sonore d'une grande densité, toujours surprenant, avec un sens du détail et une cohérence organique.Formé en 1999 par Antoine Letellier (guitares, instruments à vent) & Nicolas Moulin (guitare, électroniques), LENA CIRCUS est d'abord un duo (avec à son actif neuf EPs publiés à un rythme mensuel, sur divers labels indépendants), avant d'être rejoint en 2003 par Guillaume Arbonville (percussions). Suscitant des comparaisons avec les expérimentations de Sun Ra, Don Cherry ou TajMahal Travellers, leur univers, fruit d'une communication quasi-télépathique entre les musiciens, fait preuve d'une alchimie sonore singulière, toute en finesse et en tension permanente.

Hiroko Komiya recours aux sons tirés de la nature à l'aide d'une collection d'objets au son magique, comprenant des coquillages, des cloches, des heurtoirs, des hochets, des récipients en étain et des instruments traditionnels spécialement sélectionnés. Elle utilise également sa propre voix, créant ainsi des improvisations musicales non harmoniques, remontant aux archétypes de la culture orientale.

AUDREY CARMES & LEANDRO BARZABAL ar / fr Basse double.

Surprise du chef. Commande very spéciale du Non_Jazz - en étroite collaboration avec le GRM ( Parallèle ) . Première mondiale.

Entre new new age, ambient, krautrock ouateux, spoken word susurré et electronica, inclassable,  Audrey dispense des so(i)ns atmosphériques - comme une invitation à l'introspection et à la ( douce ) rêverie à base de nappes synthétiques, guitare, basse, flûte, vibraphone... Son premier album "Quelque chose s'est dissipé" est sorti en juillet dernier chez Métron Records.

Entre larmes de cire et moulages de béton, Leandro fait gentiment suer sa Fender Jaguar ( et ses amplis ) à moins qu'il ne s'en prenne à son synthé fait maison avec plein de boutons et plein de bougies plantées là où ça fait du pas bien. Performeur bien performant, il a bien plus de tours dans son sac encore mais on ne va pas en faire un inventaire exhaustif non plus hein.

Au fil des années, son travail a connu de nombreux changements et, depuis 2014, il réalise des œuvres exclusivement avec des méthodes « computationnelles ». Ces dernières années, il s'est concentré sur la réalisation d'œuvres vidéo dans l'esprit du cinéma structurel et matérialiste en utilisant des méthodes programmatiques. Son travail sur le son a toujours occupé une place importante et, en plus d'être membre du groupe de rap d'avant-garde KOT, il a été très actif sur la scène noise en Pologne. Il sort actuellement sous le nom de THSHLT, principalement sur son propre label PEIG (en collaboration avec Emilia Wysocka) et prépare ses débuts sous le nom de CZANEL. Il utilise le Pd patches comme instrument principal ainsi que des synthétiseurs analogiques modulaires et semi-modulaires.

I have started going through a list of 500 ~avant garde~ albums I found on rym and I will now use this blog to give my thoughts on every one

What I have been to up (briefly) so far:

Moondog- moondog: I think I want to change my name to moondog

The pop group- y: post punk like this makes me so happy I have nothing else to say

Tim buckley- starsailor: whatever you think this album sounds like based on the over it does Not sound like that

The mothers of a invention- uncle meat: idk why Zappa doesn’t hit for me but most of the time I was just thinking “that’s nice frank” alsjfhdhdhdw

Henry cow- in praise of learning: I kind of forgot about this one already but I think it was good

Ground zero- revolutionary pekinese opera ver.1.28: Holy Fuckin Shit. There are a couple moments on this album that are some of my favorite moments in music ever. I’m gonna pretend that Disney interpolation at the end doesn’t exist though

Mingus- the black saint and the sinner lady: Holy Shit. MAN does the last track in particular hit

John zorn- naked city:….it wasn’t as abrasive as I thought it was going to be so honestly I’m kind of disappointed

Today is the day- sadness will prevail: as much as I appreciate intentionally grating albums with shit production and bad vocals (I’m not kidding here I mean it lol) there was really one stretch of songs in the middle that stayed with me and the rest of the TWO AND A HALF HOUR LONG ALBUM came and went

Sachiko m, toshimaru nakamura, otomo yoshihide- good morning good night: I fall into the camp of “random tones played at random intervals is good music actually” but if you have any health issues that may be exacerbated by high pitched tones playing for a long time than you should probably avoid this at all costs aldjfhshdhs

Gorguts-obscura: it’s masterfully played death metal but I feel like you can tell if youll like it or not like two tracks in

William basinski- the disintegration loops: my brain has been too addled by years of political discourse and George bush memes to be able to assess with Accidental Soundtrack To 9/11 with any clarity NEXT

Scraping foetus off the wheel- nail: theater kid (complimentary)

The residents- not available: theater kids (derogatorily but in a complimentary way)

Contortions- buy: not my favorite no wave album ever but I just love no wave so much that it doesn’t really matter

This heat-this heat: I listened to deceit a while back and I didn’t hit as much as a expected it to but but thankfully this one works a lot better for me. It’s also helping with the developing theory that no matter how experimental you think music can get nowadays some random guys were doing the exact same thing better in the 70s

Anyway that is all so far see you next time
