i bet yul isn't actually themself, and someone else ancient af like ??? possessed them which is why they've got crazy magical abilities and seem like they're far beyond their years (while not being able to remember anything about the life of yul's body before possessing them). since yul is so obsessed with mc and mc was soulfoes with ??? in another life, i bet they're all connected in someway.

since you gave me the green light, here's my theory: ??? reached enlightenment a long time ago, thus there's no need for them to continue the cycle of death and rebirth (the whole point of samsara being to achieve a little more enlightenment with each life that goes by). iirc such people had a specific name attached to them (i think it was bodhi? might be confusing it w/ another term tho). anyways, ??? knew mc from a past life on mc's end, and the soulfoes trope makes me think that that past life went terribly wrong for them (more so for the mc since, well, according to this theory they'd have died— by ???'s hand perhaps?) and this would be the second time they meet ???…

i mean, being the reincarnation of a great figure/being is kind-of a common xianxia/muhyeop trope for protagonists or love interests. mc's circumstances point towards something deeper than just 'magyo cultists killed their parents' so this (reincarnation) is what most people aware of the genre would jump to lol
