Western celebrities of Indian origin or descent — like Freida Pinto, Simone Ashley of “Bridgerton”, sitarist Anoushka Shankar and Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones — took in the show. In Hello! Magazine India:

While not new to anyone familiar with the world of BL dramas that has only expanded since the pandemic, Mile and Apo sparked a curiosity in many, especially because of the grand welcome they received at the Mumbai airport, with fans queuing up for hours to catch a glimpse of the stars, and the interest they garnered online despite being surrounded by some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment industry.
So who are Mile and Apo?
Mile Phakphum Romsaithong and Apo Nattawin Wattanagitiphat are actors from Thailand, most popular for their roles as Kinn and Porsche in the hugely successful BL series KinnPorsche (2022).
The success of KinnPorsche catapulted the actors into global stardom with a fandom that expanded across the globe, as evidenced by the warm welcome they received by hundreds of fans in Mumbai. Aside from collecting awards and covers of all top magazines in the country, the main lead actors from the drama also scored a coveted Dior ambassadorship that led them to be invited for the label’s pre-fall 2023 ready-to-wear showcase in Mumbai recently.
(wait really?! did Hello jump the gun and leak that information before it was meant to be released, or maybe they misunderstood, or is that how we're gonna find out???)
By the French Embassy in India:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mile in Badhombre, a Spanish publication, in their best dressed of the week. (the difference is in the details) this is a sign I need to shut up about how I think Dior is ugly I guess...
Tumblr media
And of course many of the usual places that have now been covering them like Harper's Bazaar SG (Thank you Kenneth Goh), Vogue Thailand, Vogue HK, and Dior directly on their IG and Twitter accounts.
Our babies are huge big stars 🥺 New York Times!!!

i would love a wall of text about beetle embroidery
this'll be off the top of my head, so take what i say with a grain of salt.
beetle embroidery was brought from india to england during english occupation there in the 19th century. this had been a practice among the richer classes there, and was a staple in one of the royal courts (who i have forgotten the same of). (edit: mughal era, court in jaipur, 1526-1857).
It involves sewing the wings (edit: it's actually the elytra, the wing's casing) of a particular kind of beetle (edit: jewel beetle, buprestidae) family with wings that fluoresce green and blue onto garments. in england, this was mainly dresses. the embroidery changed with the fashion, sometimes they were whole wings or wings broken into pieces.
this was often done by women in their homes with beetles they'd collected themselves. taxidermy clothes and accessories were a victorian staple. there were how-to books on this subject also. you could find bird hats and insect bracelets and earrings.
there was, however, some opposition to this practice. there was an entry into art amateur, a magazine at the time, in which a woman narrates that if you found a bug on someone, you would naturally swat it off. however, these days someone might take offense. punch, the satirical magazine, made an insect-like monster satirizing women with these adorments. it was also thought that these realistic items would scare more sensitive women. the book on this subject was by a french author.
eventually this fell out of fashion, with one of the more recent examples being a costume at the turn of the century.
which reminds me, a victorian costume for lady macbeth had beetle embroidery. i'll go back and see if i still have a picture.
here. (it's from 1888!)

"Don't hate the player, hate the game." Maybe we should hate both. There's padding a resume but then there's a work of fiction which is what Meghan Markle is determined to pass off as her professional bio. Grab your sick bucket🤢 before examining more proof that this vile woman can't tell THE TRUTH even if her life depends on it. There simply aren't enough pinocchios in the world to highlight these lies.

Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, Keynote Speaker | Harry Walker Agency
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex is a 🤥feminist🤥, champion of 🤥human rights and gender equity, and global🤥 role model. Her lifelong🤥 advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian 🤥and business ventures. She is noted as one of the most 🤥powerful and influential women in the world, topping lists such as TIME Magazine’s Most Influential People, The Financial Times’ 25 Most Influential Women, Variety Power of Women, and British Vogue’s Vogue 25🤥.
This is just gross. A global role model🤢 one of the most iconic figures of this generation 🤢🤢🤢
She and her husband, Prince Harry have also been the recipients of the NAACP President’s Award as well as the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award. Meghan’s global impact🤥, and strong stance on resilience, equality, and compassion🤥 through action, have made her one of the most iconic 🤥public figures of this generation.
Tumblr media
Born and raised in Southern California, Meghan attended Los Angeles based all-girls Catholic School, Immaculate Heart, which she continues to support as an alumna, 🤥before moving to Chicago to attend the 🤥prestigious Northwestern University. While there, she 🤥double majored in Theater and International Relations, and went on to 🤥intern at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. After graduation, Meghan turned her focus to the entertainment industry, landing her big break as a 🤥lead actor on the hit series, ‘Suits’ which she starred in for seven seasons. During her time off🤥 between filming, Meghan travelled to Rwanda, India, and across the globe 🤥working on humanitarian missions, and serving in 🤥key roles such as: UN Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership, a World Vision Global Ambassador, and a leading Counsellor to One Young World, where she inspired 🤥youth and women around the world through her passionate advocacy and 🤥hands-on approach to being of service. She also travelled to support the military community on a USO Tour, visiting six military bases in seven days including Bagram, Afghanistan.
In 2018, Meghan married Prince Harry, becoming The Duchess of Sussex.
🤥An accomplished writer, she has contributed pieces to publications (tabloids🙄) in the UK, US, and Ireland, and parlayed that skill into the creation of the successful lifestyle website, ‘The Tig’, where her thoughtful and🤥 inspiring op-eds cultivated a😂 global fanbase. The Duchess of Sussex was the first guest editor in the history of British Vogue for their July Issue in 2019, which was the fastest selling copy in the history of the publication.
She and Prince Harry founded The Archewell Foundation in 2020 to support communities in need at a micro and macro level, in both moments of crisis as well as for long term aid. At The Archewell Foundation, they hold the value that charitable work should not simply be ‘a handout, but rather a hand held’, 🤥a phrase which Meghan first coined when supporting UK charity Smart Works, of which she is patron, that uplifts and prepares underserved women to enter the workforce. Meghan and her husband also founded and oversee production company, Archewell Productions and podcasting arm, Archewell Audio.
In 2022, Meghan launched ‘Archetypes’, 🤥a record-breaking podcast exploring the labels that try to hold women back; ‘Archetypes’ debuted at Number 1 in The US, UK, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand, and topped the charts as the Number 1 podcast in 47 countries, demonstrating her 😂🤥unparalleled global reach. After its first season, Archetypes was awarded The People’s Choice Award in the podcast category😂.
She is a 🤥NY Times Best Selling author, publishing her highly celebrated children’s book, ‘The Bench’, and “Together: Our Community Kitchen” a publication she spearheaded with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen in the UK, who were displaced after the tragic Grenfell Fire. True to her character, The Duchess of Sussex mobilized to turn pain into purpose🤢, working alongside🤥 this dynamic group of women to help them heal, grow, and develop their own business enterprises in the face of adversity. In addition to 🤥topping the NY Times Bestsellers list, “Together,” also debuted as number one on the UK’s Sunday Booklist, with proceeds going to the Kitchen.
Meghan’s influence in fashion has been coined🤥 “The Meghan Effect” with items selling out within hours of her wearing them. 🤥Her ‘effect’ has transcended fashion, 🤥shifting cultural conversations as seen with her op-ed for the NY Times “The Losses We Share.🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥” The piece detailed a heartbreaking personal loss 🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥which spiked the conversation surrounding miscarriage to 🤥the highest it had been spoken of in over two decades at the time of publishing🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥.
Meghan is a 🤥passionate advocate for mental health 🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥and family care🤥🤥🤥🤥, the holistic support of women and children’s rights🤥, and the immeasurable value of one’s self worth🤥. Her core belief that representation matters🤪, and her connection to community through the lens of learning🤥, healing🤥, and inspiring🤥 have helped define her as a 🤥cultural catalyst for 🤥positive change.
Look at how dumb the kids names look with titles🤡🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️ They sound like cartoon characters.

Meghan resides in California with her husband and their children Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana, and their three dogs.

A History of the Bikini in Bollywood
Sharmila Tagore's appearance in a one-piece swimsuit in An Evening in Paris (1967) + her bikini photoshoot for Filmfare magazine set off a cultural wave in India due to it being the first public depiction of an Indian actress in a swimsuit.
The costumes shocked conservative Indian audiences, who had never seen an actress dressed so boldly. It set a trend of bikini-clad actresses, such as Parveen Babi (in Yeh Nazdeekiyan, 1982), Zeenat Aman (in Heera Panna, 1973 & Qurbani, 1980), Mumtaz (in Apradh, 1972) and Dimple Kapadia (in Bobby, 1973). Women all over the country became more inspired to dress how they desired, rather than feeling restricted by archaic tenets of modesty.
Wearing a bikini skyrocketed Sharmila’s career to the top, and she set a trend of actresses embracing a more “western” and revealing fashion aesthetic. The move was a transgression of female identity through a reversal of the state of modesty, which functions as a signifier of femininity in Bombay films. After these films, non-traditionally dressed female characters in Bollywood were less inclined to be depicted as “immodest” or in a derogatory manner.

After that lovely editorial you posted of Karlie I got curious 😁 What's your favorite editorial? I'm still very much in love with Natalia Vodianova's Bella Donna, that shoot with the polka dot dress is fine art, all of it really! Can't believe it's 18 years old 😵‍💫
My issue with editorials is 1) I started following fashion in the ~age of the internet~ so there are decades of editorials I'm sure people would consider iconic that I've never seen, or at least never seen quality pictures of and 2) I usually end up loving one or two shots, but not liking the whole thing. or I like the fashion but not the actual modelling or vice versa.
Anyways, I couldn't limit it to 1 because I've been running this blog too long so here's my top editorials in no particular order
I don't even think the Disney Dream Portraits are an editorial, they're really disney campaign, but I remember when they first started doing these around 2007 and I was obsessed. This was way before Disney did live action movies, so this is what I had. My favorite was the Scarlett Johanson/Cinderella one, but Annie Leibovitz outdid herself with the live action Cinderella poster, which I have hanging in my room
Tumblr media
Sticking on the Disney theme, Harrods Magazine did a couture princess shoot at one point
Tumblr media
Carey Mulligan did a Gatsby themed shoot to promote the movie, and I have a soft spot for this one because I'm pretty sure this was the first issue of Vogue I ever actually owned. I was reading Gatsby for school around the time the movie came out so I asked her to buy it for me for academic purposes.
Tumblr media
Natalia Vodianova for Vogue US May 2007
Tumblr media
Vogue US February 2013
I'm pretty sure this was an interview about marchesa, but I remember seeing these pictures all of tumblr for a while
Tumblr media
How To Spend It Fall 2012
Tumblr media
Sasha Pivovarova "Enchanted Gardens" Vogue India
Tumblr media
Natalia Vodianova by Mario Testino for Vogue US
Tumblr media
This is definitely not an editorial, but the first time I remember looking up a model and photographer from a magazine was Natalia Vodianova's Euphoria ad. I think you can see a trend at this point. Clearly I am also a fan of Natalia, and have no sense of time

Coffee tables - Time for a break?
Coffee tables take many shapes and forms but, generally speaking, a coffee table is considered to be a fairly small, low sitting table that would typically be the centrepiece of the common waiting room, lounge, or family room. Visit here to see more other living room furniture deals today. Coffee tables take many shapes and forms but, generally speaking, a coffee table is considered to be a fairly small, low sitting table that would typically be the centrepiece of the common waiting room, lounge, or family room. Coffee tables are utilitarian, in that they are normally used to store remote-controls, for the entertainment suite, books and magazines, and fittingly, are a great place to set down snacks or one's coffee mug when entertaining guests. However, as the centre-piece, contemporary coffee tables are also usually chosen to suit the style and match the existing interior-decoration of one's home to add to the overall effect. A wide range of quality Coffee Tables in a range of styles and materials including wood, glass or marble. Browse online at https://www.thelargecoffeetables.com
Accordingly, it is easy to find a very wide variety of modern coffee tables in different sizes, colours, shapes, fashions, and construction materials. Glass coffee tables are quite popular and if kept free of dust, add a pleasing aspect to the room. If combined with a stainless-steel or chromed frame, a glass-top coffee table will help to add to an overall clean, sleek, modern feel in a room.
Art-deco style tables are still readily available too as something of a relic from the 80s that is one style that seems to be diminishing in popularity as we now approach the end of the noughties. Even still, one can still find lopsided pastel-coloured plastic blobs and planes that appear to be stretched straight from some work, serving as coffee tables. Due to their diminishing popularity and simple construction, they tend to be cheaper these days. It should be noted that it is possible to find more tasteful designs built around similar themes.
If you are after a more classical look in your coffee tables then you probably want to be looking at wooden construction. On the cheaper end of the scale you can find new tables made from plastic imitation-wood, or veneer-covered chipboardî coffee tables, but these can have a somewhat tacky appearance and will tend to be poorer in quality.
If you are willing to spend big money, anywhere upwards of £200 for this small article of furniture, then you can find good quality solid wooden coffee tables that can really set a room off. With supplies of good timber and the loss of most of the world's old-growth forests, the only place one can find beautiful coffee tables made from solid wood (with the exception of pine) for less than about £1000, is at an antique furniture store.
If your pockets aren't quite that deep do not despair! If you're prepared to put some work in the best option is to look around for something you like at second-hand stores. For bargain prices one can find beautiful coffee tables in need of sanding down, staining, possibly some filling or new fasteners, and a couple of coats of clear varnish. The end result can be quite stunning, rendering a stick of furniture into a centrepiece that any homeowner would be proud of.
With the nature of business today the cost of producing complex hand-crafted mosaic coffee tables, either made with inlays of slices of wood with alternating patterned shades, or ceramic-tile based table top surfaces, has become prohibitive. One may still purchase machine manufactured tables like this, with a less pleasing effect, or one could import such furniture from places like Pakistan and India at great expense. Once again real masterpieces in need of a little attention can be sourced at second-hand stores and the like, rewarding industrious home-improvement enthusiasts with coffee tables of outstanding quality and appeal.

I’d love a fic or titbit where Brian realises that there’s more to Roger than being a ball of energy whether cheering or annoying - that he loves reading, or is a really good father, or is writing hit not minor album songs, or is serious about politics, or whatever takes your fancy! Thank you!
The first time Brian met Roger, he was just blown away overall. Roger was the Mitch Mitchell and Ginger Baker him and Tim were looking for, and he looked great, like he already was a star. If there was any shadow of self consciousness underneath those colourful, well fitting clothes, then they were very well hidden. Brian let the Fireplace's strings go quiet to match the climax of Roger's drumming and stood back and felt awe'd. Roger was good. More than that, he was perfect.
The first time Brian felt like a total idiot in front of Roger, it was about 3 weeks after they were first acquainted. Brian had, rather foolishly, put down Roger's succint letter writing to being uncomfortable with his own literacy skills. Maybe being from Cornwall left him lacking in a vast vocabulary. Brian had always written rather long letters detailing every little thing he felt really set the scene of his ideas and memories, where as Roger's letters were short and to the point.
Like when, 10 days after meeting Roger, he wrote to Roger about the day he spent at his parents, describing the kitchen so Roger could see it for himself in his mind's eye. Roger's reply was less than 20 words long "Sounds wonderful, Brian, I wish I was there! How do you feel about a concert in the guild hall?"
The day after he came back from his parents, he spent the morning mulling over a song and was all geared up to talk to Roger about the way he wanted it to sound with the drums. He knew Roger played the guitar but there was nothing quite like his own Fireplace, and already had his usual Technological Lite edition ready, to explain to Roger how he and his Dad had made it and how it differs from a normal guitar. After all, not everyone even understood the basics of electricity, let alone the intricate details of creating an electrical musical instrument out of bits he found in his own home. And drums were very very different from a guitar, even though he did know now they did actually need tuning!
And then he knocked on Roger's bedsit door, and Roger answered, wearing a scruffy pair of jeans with holes in them and a loose knit top, and a rather hefty book in his hands.
"Oh hello!" Roger said, face brightening with a grin. "I wasn't expecting you so soon."
"Am I... Should I come back later?"
"No, not at all. Come on in."
"Reading?" Brian asked, trying not to sound so surprised.
"Yeah, they're all due back in a few days and I stupidly took my time over the longest one. Cup of tea?"
"Yes please."
And then Roger moved out of the way, and guided him further inside, and that's when Brian saw all of the books. Piles and piles of books, on every available surface, there was even some on the floor. He spotted Lady Chatterley's Lover, War and Peace, a few by Jack Kerouac, a biography about Winston Churchill, even one about the East India Company.
"Are all of these Library books?"
Roger laughed. "God no, how many do you think they let you take? No, those five there are library books, they're all my books from home there, most are my favourites but some of them are gifts I haven't got around to reading yet. Exams and gigs, and well, some girls too I suppose, they all sort of got in the way. That pile on the table is a few my friend leant me and, well, there's some fashion magazines over there but that's mostly for ideas."
Brian thought he was a reader. He thought, as an academic, his bookshelf looked impressive. But, he didn't read much outside of his area of astronomy and music. If it was about space or a biography of a musician he liked, that was his pleasure.
But Roger...
"These are your favourites?"
Roger nodded, pouring milk into the little milk pot in his tea set. "Yeah, most of them. I had to leave some at home, and well, you know what it's been like the last 3 weeks. I've not even had a chance to read that new controvercial one yet."
He nodded to the hardback in the Library Book pile. The Female Eunuch by Germaine Greer.
"Splash of milk and 1 sugar, right?"
Brian had to reconsider everything he knew about the young man so far. Brian had unjustly had opinions about Roger based on his love of fun and his looks and his lack of interest in his studies. But, here he was with a room full of books with every interest you could consider. Roger wasn't just a keen reader, this man read politics, classics, wordy classics at that, poetry! Scientific biographies, feminist literature and... was that a series of books about electrical engineering and mechanics? There was clearly nothing Roger didn't consider uninteresting. And all of those books, along with the concerts and rehearsals and the networking, when did he sleep?
Brian was once again blown away. Mentally chastened, he noted to tell himself off later in the privacy of his own home and waited patiently to talk about what brought him around.
Brian watched on as Roger, just before he brought over the cups of tea on the tray, double checked the bookmark was in his book and placed it carefully on top of the pile on the dining table.
