of course leaving jon and martin’s ending the way it is would be the best decision from a narrative-quality standpoint, but there’s so many people (myself included) who are hoping for them to make an appearance in the magnus protocol because we love them and want to see them again. especially since “oh… hello” was released.

so, i’m wondering if there’s a way for them to balance it? there could always be clips from the institute pre-eyepocalypse that the audience never heard, but if protocol takes place post-tma-canon (which i’m personally hoping that it does) then it’ll likely be in the new universe that the fears have gone to. in which case, it’ll be difficult for them to give absolutely no explanation of or follow-up on the archivist’s fate without being borderline deliberately frustrating. they’d need to be so careful about what they reveal—i could see them including lines that indicate one ending but are still up to audience interpretation.

i don’t know how they’ll be able to preserve the ambiguity of tma’s ending while also creating an interesting post-canon narrative. but! i trust them to figure it out, and i’m so, so excited to listen! and i’m also excited to see everyone’s theories and speculation as we find out more.
