Necrophobic Sweden Some old band photos and their 1995 debut LP "The Nocturnal Silence"

In my mind, this album is the pinnacle of death/black metal (or at least from what I've heard so far) because it has some LOUD bass, a 'bit' of satanism, some keyboards, and a LOT of awesome riffs (covered head to toe in riffs).

Something like Dark Funeral mixed with Slayer.

Highly recommend.

A nasty, gritty record, yet innovative, with plenty of vomit-inducing riffs and vocals that helped further build the growing goregrind genre their debut LP, "Reek of Putrefaction", helped start.

Dead Congregation Greece Band photos and their debut LP from 2014, "Graves of the Archangels"

Since initially forming in 2004 in Athens, Greece, Dead Congregation had only released one EP prior to the monster debut. They are said to have the main focus of their music on atmosphere, typically utilizing tremolo riffs with touches of Immolation and Morbid Angel.

This album has many highs, but not many lows.

Easily one of the better new-school osdm acts.

Malevolent Creation Buffalo NY/Tampa FL, US The band's iconic photos and their classic debut and sophomore LPs, "The Ten Commandments" and "Retribution"

Alongside the classic artwork by Dan Seagrave, the music within these albums is thrashy, groovy, and most of all punishing. Certainly a pair of must-haves for any metal collection period. An honorable mention of the band 'Solstice" is necessary since Rob Barrett worked his magic in that band too.

Necromantia Greece Photos of the two members named The Magus, and Baron Blood, alongside the cover for their 1995 LP, "Scarlet Evil Witching Black" Instead of the usual 6-string guitar, Necromantia favored the 8-string bass instead, creating a very original sound to separate them from the rest of the rising 2nd wave black metal scene of the early 90s. This album uses a good deal of synths, and is considered a classic of the sympho-black genre.

Ripping Corpse New Jersey, US Band photos, media, and their debut LP "Dreaming With the Dead"

Somewhat of a hybrid of speed metal and proto-brutal death metal, this album delivers some great riffs over the sickly vocals done by the great Scott Ruth. Erik Rutan early cameo as well (who later went on to star in Hate Eternal).

Definite recommend if you like brutal sound.

Rotting Christ Greece Older photos of the band and their second LP "Non Serviam"

A pillar in the Greek black metal scene at the time, Rotting Christ put out a lengthy string of high quality throughout the mid 90s, putting extremely catchy melodies into each and every song they wrote.

They should not be counted out for their lack of brutality.

'Blessed of the Sick' of course being their sophomore full length that lays down some GOOD riffs.

Ritual Suicide Japan Cassette release of their 1998 "To Nothing" Demo Death metal that is quite experimental, with a lot of acoustics intertwined in the riffs. This was the band's only release, and a rarity nonetheless.
