Thrifting sources

I'm lucky because I have multiple second-hand shops around where I live.

My main thrifting source is Vinted, an online second-hand marketplace. The app's available in a large part of Europe, the USA, Canada, and the UK. I've had a lot of good finds there in terms of clothes, fabric, notions, books,...

I wouldn't recommend the app if you have issues with impulse shopping though.

this summer i need to cut my hair and buy silly t-shirts and stop being apologetic abt merely existing and do things even though i'm very bad at them and be earnest & bouyant and stop thinking i'm being punished when bad things happen and read books i've never heard of and be in any body of water as much as possible and be less afraid of people crushing my heart when i give them it!!!!! Basically i need to go on walks even when i don't feel like it so every time i do i will be enraptured by the world like i always am 🙏❤

#i booked an appointment to cut my hair & got two books i'd never heard of before and every time i go to the thrift store i look for silly #t-shirts and in regards to all the other stuff i will try very hard. and that at least is something.#ALSO i will watch tv shows from ten years ago and go to concerts without feeling alienated when i'm there and stop feeling like i'm running #in a race of time with other ppl my age that i will never win and be open to new experiences and push myself out of my comfort zone 👍#double also!! i will stop being scared to wear certain clothes bc i think i'll be judged for it and i will be more easygoing with strangers #and i'll stop feeling like i'm slowly wasting away and i will stop feeling like i'm bothering everyone all the time and i will learn arabic #and greek and hindi and freshen up on my spanish & latin. the latter ones i am already busy with <333 #owl app i hate u but u do get me places. oh also if anyone's studying languages atm memrise.com is a pretty good site too!!!#ANYWAY. bucket list 4 the summer 👆#through rain and wind and other hashtag bad weather i WILL swim this summer mark my words ☝️

How do you all find anything at the thrift stores? Like, I've been wanting to start putting together some corporate goth look a for work, but rarely can I find anything at the thrift stores that I like. I *did* find a cool cameo necklace a few weeks ago, though. So, that's a start.

i think its really easy to forget that s2 is infact set in the future, and with the pugg-ification (that thing that happened to pugs to make them anatomically wrong) of anime, there is a high likely hood that when Taylor says "anime" he is picturing characters who look like the woman on the far right. did i draw this to put off actually drawing the teens ... still - mayhaps why do you ask?

last post i just reblogged reminded me i never remembered to post these silly lil photos i took on here...ever since i had to quickly get a new phone from my other one's (rip iphone 6s and my beautiful beloved Standard Analog Headphone Plug....we had a good run old friend...........) screen literally bubbling up like it was going to actually explode from internal heating if i kept using it i now have a super cool high quality camera lens situation that i hope to be able to use for my various diy art projects and stuff but its still been less than a month since i've has this model phone and its the first like. modern within two years or so high tech camera i have ever owned in my life and i grew up in the pre-phone camera era of handheld digital cameras for broke aspiring photographers so its been very exciting for me to test things out and look at settings (i can allegedly take photos & videos in literal 4k HD with this camera lens system according to the quality options in the system settings which is. absolutely mind boggling to me in a good way i cant believe i have a camera in any format that has the potential to capture things to that extent!!!)

anyways all of that to say that i'm obviously very out of touch with how any of this modern high tech high resolution works as of now, but i picked this version of this phone model specifically because it gives me a lot of opportunities to hopefully have more personal, accessible control over visual photo/video art and editing and filming etc etc but since i haven't had a chance to really learn how to utilize everything the way i want to yet, i've been having fun taking 'portrait mode' photos in the meantime just to try and get the hang of one feature at a time, and a week or two ago when i had my Weekly Day Outside Of My Home For Therapy Appointment, one of my moms and i decided to take a drive just for the heck of it to get some air and see the world.

all of this. again. to say. here are some portraits i took of my beloved soft fluffy chicken bag (his name is Lestat de Poultrycourt 😌) while sitting in the passenger seat and cracking up with one of my moms over how hard i was trying to pose him in a way that did not show my hands like a muppet operator. i am 99% sure at least one of these pics will end up being used by me as an album cover for a song at some point in the future so look forward to that. fjshdhsgshsgshsvsh

seeing how depop ended up is genuinely so weird. i’ve been on that app since 2018 and not only has it always been and is still the shittiest platform of all time but it’s also now owned by etsy and has a horrible reputation for … some reason

So, I popped into the local secondhand book/music/clothes/general assundry store a bit ago and found this gem in the kids section (I was originally there scrounging for Animorphs and such). It's a Titanic thing so I ABSOLUTELY MUST take a look at it.

I expected nothing out of this.

I mean, it's literally a simplistic step into reading book for kids with second grade reading levels (as the inside states). Written two years after Titanic's wreck was discovered.

You get very simplistic sentences. Very basic facts of the ship & her journey. Nice art though. Illustrator Keith Kohler did a good job.

So I'm just flipping through looking at the art & then I hit the page where the ultra simplistic for-kids sentences manages to hits grimdark.

"And so they do not come."

It's so to the point. So grim. So final!

Like, hello??? This is a book for kids but that sentence hits me to the core?

(But maybe that's just because I'm a huge Titanic nerd and will buy anything related to her. Case in point: this .59 cent book.)

Did you think that was the end? No, we have more sentences that just carry this absurd weight of finality.

Like the juxtaposition between "The music is cheerful" and "But people are afraid now"? So simple! So to the point! But holy shit it frames the situation beautifully.

THEN THERE'S THIS TRANSITION. I narrate what's going on in the video, other than that I'll let the pages speak for themselves.

Again, simple but to the point. Nothing poetic here, just "The Titanic is gone." The simplistic framing makes it feel all the harsher .

I know it's a kids book but damn, my feels.

I'm also absurdly pleased by how it simplistically summarizes all of the changes that came after? Like, I didn't expect a kids book to go into those details at even the depth that it did?
