Magnum PI - S05E11 - Hit and Run review
We're back. I guess. It feels strange knowing these are the last ten episodes it seems likely we're getting but judging from just this first one it's going to keep on being one heck of a ride at least for that :P
Tumblr media
(Full honestly, something is wrong with my internet so I watched this with like 1 million little lags and annoying loading bits so... may have affected my viewer enjoyment. Also gotta go to bed because I gotta work tomorrow so this is a little short and 5% spell checked...)
Miggy
Wham-bam, thank you, ma'am. It would have been more shocking if we hadn't gotten the "I'm late in the promo" but still, it was fun to explore this for an episode. They didn't touch back on what Juliet said about not being sure if she wanted a baby or not, but from how the discussion went today she seemed to have changed her tune. Would have been good to have addressed. I thought the would with Magnum being incredibly award when she told him. (This was low-key a favorite part of mine because not knowing what to say Magnum is pretty rare.)
Tumblr media
Loved that they're keeping the Miggy banter and Thomas Magnum logic going strong even with big life-changing-ish news looming on the horizon.
"Yeah but if you are pregnant you will be more pregnant tomorrow."
Tumblr media
"Just like how you said you weren't scared of spiders?"
I think this was a big set-up for how the series is going to end. Which I think is going to be very Mentalist and we kind of needed to have them talk about and want a baby, even if not right now. (Seriously, if the show doesn't end with a Miggy wedding and baby on board I'm going to be annoyed.)
So yeah, I'm glad they had the baby talk and that it leads to Confessions! (have I been watching too much K-drama? Maybe. Yes.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And is it weird that I cried there with them being all "I love you" at the end? Like I thought, kind of that I'd gone through my mourning process for this both with thinking season 4 was the end and during the past few months knowing season 5b is the last. But apparently, I was wrong. I still have tears left.
Watching this episode just kind of made me realize how much I love this show (all over again) and that I'm going to miss it and my babies sooo much.
TC being sad = sadness
It's was kind of hard to watch our favorite guy going through tough stuff. I feel like the *protect TC at all cost* society will sue someone :P no but I was really thankful things seem to be going in the right direction for him both with emotionally dealing and getting some feeling back!
Tumblr media
Rick + Piper...
So Rick's got a new GF? I feel like she gotta have some connection to something bigger. Like she's for sure a spy or something right? Wasn't her being all "that dump never" just too great of a start? I mean Rick is cute and all, but just introducing her as a love interest would be a little frivolous? Though they have done that before with Ethan and Lia.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Piper is cute and I can't wait to see what happens with it.
The Case!
I really liked this case, even if it the excitement was somewhat lost because my internet kept lagging. It's pretty classic "hitman decides to save victim" only with a Magnum and Higgins twist. It could have gone a lot of different ways and in a way it felt a little too quick for it to end. (I think this might be another K-drama symptom where most things just keep going throughout the season.) I was hoping/thinking when I heard "boarding school, sick mom" that we'd get a Juliet/kid bonding moment.
Tumblr media
I would have liked Mr. Hitman to not have died so unceremoniously. I mean this poor kid, her mom is dead, her dad is dead, her brother just tried to kill her with 2 hitmen and now the guy who saved her (even if he was a hitman to start) dies? I mean come on! Couldn't he have gotten caught and she'd be like "I'll come visit you in jail" or something?
The Jin + Book
Are we going to get more flashbacks of Jin imagining the White Knight with superpowers? Because that was so weirdly hilarious. I was like? What? What? WHAT? Then I totally cracked up.
Tumblr media
But yeah, hope we have something more with the TR Bell + White Knight. That kiss back from early season 4 is still one of my faves of theirs (even if it wasn't actually 'them'.)
Next week seems fun! Like, repo a fish? What a strange world, but it sure going to be amusing.

The matriarch dual family
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“The people stick with you you can make a mistake and go home again,” she added. Fichandler said in an interview on the website of Theater Communications Group, an umbrella organization for nonprofit theaters.
Tumblr media
“The company is the equivalent in the world of theater to the family in a social form when you knock on the door, they have to let you in,” Ms. (Arena phased out its acting company in the 1990s, after Ms. Its resident actors over the years made up a list of luminaries: Robert Prosky, Frances Sternhagen, George Grizzard, Philip Bosco, Roy Scheider, Robert Foxworth and Dianne Wiest, in addition to Mr. It is no surprise, then, that Arena’s success was built on the resident company format. Fichandler’s belief, however, that the actor is the central element of the theater - “because it’s the behavior of the actor, the experience of the actor that reveals to the audience who they are,” she said - and that an acting company best allows the actor to thrive. In 1968, Arena became the first regional theater to send a play to Broadway when a trimmed-down version of its production of “The Great White Hope,” Howard Sackler’s extravagant stage biography of the boxer Jack Johnson that starred James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander leading a cast of 60 actors, opened at the Alvin Theater (since renamed for Neil Simon) and won the Tony Award for best play and the Pulitzer Prize for drama. So did its production of the musical revue “Tintypes.” Its numerous new works by emerging writers have included the American premieres of “Indians,” Arthur Kopit’s scabrous sendup of the mythology of the American West, and “Moonchildren,” Michael Weller’s portrayal of college students living communally both ended up on Broadway. Under her leadership, Arena became one of the nation’s leading theater companies and in the forefront of a regional theater movement that brought quality professional productions to communities from coast to coast.Īrena’s mission statement declares its dedication to American theater artists, but through its history it has ranged widely, presenting the plays of both American and European masters - Chekhov and O’Neill among them - and dramas by contemporary writers, including Arthur Miller, Tom Stoppard, Athol Fugard and Edward Albee. And though she never became a household name, she was a titan in the theater world, a visionary producer and teacher who was instrumental in seeding the American continent with the work of playwrights, directors, actors and designers. Fichandler, whose title was artistic director or producing director, was Arena’s artistic force until she stepped down in 1991. Fichandler handled the business end of the theater. Mangum did not stay at Arena he had a career directing overseas and elsewhere in the United States. They converted a former burlesque house and movie theater in a rundown section of the city to a 247-seat theater in the round and put on an ambitious first season of 18 productions, including three Shakespeare plays and works by Molière, Shaw, Synge, Gogol, Tennessee Williams and Oscar Wilde. Indeed, the existence of a professional resident theater in the United States outside of New York was, at the time, nearly anomalous. The impetus to start a company in the first place, she later said, was that there was little theater to be seen in Washington - or anywhere else but New York - aside from amateur productions, summer stock, festivals and touring Broadway shows. Fichandler (pronounced fitch-AND-ler), who had studied Russian at Cornell, was finishing her master’s degree in theater at George Washington University - her thesis was about Shakespeare in the Soviet Union - when she and her husband, Thomas Fichandler, along with a theater teacher, Edward Mangum, founded Arena in 1950. Her son Mark said the cause was congestive heart failure. Zelda Fichandler, a seminal figure in the regional theater movement who led Arena Stage in Washington for 41 years, producing more than 400 shows and directing more than 50 for a company that helped spur the growth of professional theater around the country and became its centerpiece in the nation’s capital, died on Friday at her home in Washington.

Everyone these white men has betrayed their country and their oath to protect the US Constitution and our democracy.
Under military law, they should forfeit their rank, their tax payer paid pensions and/or prepare themselves for the firing squad.

Magnum PI - 3.03 - No Way Out
So this week episode was...well, I don’t know.
I guess I enjoyed it and we got some fun moments. But over all I just... I just didn’t like anyone (weird because they’re my babies) . Everyone were just acting so not cool with each other. The bickering was annoying rather endearing. Seriously some of the most enjoyable bits were the Rick-being-worried-mother-hen ones.
Also where was the Miggy? There was barely any! (yes I’m saying that about the episode where we got this)
Tumblr media
and an end scene like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This little squint-y thing when she’s texting Ethan and smiling? We see you Magnum.
Tumblr media
(And how can Jay just get hotter and hotter? I mean, seriously, someone call the fire department already!)
Magnum “keeping tally” of her dates....because of “the over under” that was pretty great too! And him pulling her out of the elevator. And her giving him a ‘mmmm nice’ look when he was wearing the sexy black commando outfit...
IDK, maybe there was some Miggy crumbs and maybe my slight ‘meehewh’ experience was it was just because I was watching this at 5 am and the streaming site kept buffering (and I just got so spoiled with 3.01-2). But I don’t know. It did feel a little flat. Maybe low stakes because I didn’t feel like no one was actually in danger, which is really weird during a hostage situation.
Plus point for the fact that they brought up / it caused problem that Higgy switched to TC for her Fake-Fiance! That was just so stupid I’m glad it actually came back to bite her. I would however have liked them all to be blaming themselves, rather than each other, because that just wasn’t cute.
Still, I mean some of the biggest reasons I watch Magnum because of good (and oh so pretty) characters, friendship and brotherhood (and partnership), Miggy, beautiful scenery and cool cars. I didn’t get much of any of that other than a minute at the end. Like seriously, there was not even one shot of the Ferrari this week...*tears*
Having some almost-personal-experience (one of my best friends is currently appealing her work visa and was possibly going to have to leave right before Christmas) it’s really tough to not know what’s going to happen. My friend is really broken up about it and I’m really bummed out too. It’s real terrifying to be at the whim of some government person who don’t know you or your circumstances other than from a sheet of paper. A person, that have the power to separate you from your new family and home.
So I kind of get why Juliet is upset and lashing out. She hates that she has no control. So I can forgive her.... for half of it.
But these guys all did this illegal thing for you Juliet, because they wanted you to stay so bad!
Magnum is easily as upset as you Higgy and TC isn’t happy either. They love you! Try to remember that!
(I mean TC lied badly and awkwardly for you girl, come on!)
Tumblr media
Blaming them might be a cooping mechanism (and I actually love the fact that we got her fake crying about her ‘daddy issues’ because we all know that she probably got some. At least my head cannon Mr. Higgins isn’t winning dad of the year awards) but it’s also going backwards for her character (but when have they ever really cared about that?).
I figure it’s for the drama but it could have been equally dramatic if Higgy had just gone ‘I guess that means I’m going home for good’ and started mentioning all the things she was going to miss and Magnum was being all, ‘I’m sorry I fudge it up’ (even though I’m not sure I actually think it’s more Magnum’s fault than anyone else’s...)
Or they could have kept it all the same, but at some point actually had Juliet admit that she said yes to the proposal, she’s at fault too and maybe that she really should just have married Magnum. I mean that would just have been the simplest and most likely to succeed thing to do to succeed with the fake visa. Her switching messed it up and even with the ‘I own a business’ visa it’s still causing problems.
This could also finally have given them a moment to talk about WHY she did that (because they would be less likely that things went wrong with TC? Wouldn’t he go to jail if they found out same as with Magnum? How did switching ever make any sense?), maybe we could even have gotten some Miggy feels hinted at - of course interrupted by Bad Guys coming to shoot them.
I feel like this was maybe how it went in the original script - because of the whole “and I didn’t have to marry either one of you” comment at the end. I feel like that might have been meant to tie in with a scene like that. But that’s probably just my shippy sleepy brain making stuff up!
Despite this all I did enjoyed Magnum little speech about how it’s all his fault. It’s totally stupid and illogical for him to make it and if the immigration guy hadn’t been all ‘lets just forget about this because you saved my life, welcome to America’ it would maybe even have led to Magnum losing his license, them all getting arrested and Higgy deported. It’s still really cute and heartwarming and if Juliet keeps calling him immature man-child after this I’m gonna be annoyed.
Tumblr media
The “welcome home” at the end and generally good feeling of things being some what settled with the visa (or so I’m assuming) is really nice. Higgy is finally actually home and we got a lovely family dinner with the whole gang, Juliet saying thank you and some Miggy puppy dog eyes to finish it all up with. Over all it felt vaguely like this might have been meant to air around Thanksgiving or something originally.
I guess I can’t complain too much. Little sad we didn’t get any kind of Christmas feels (but with the filming scheduled weird due to corona I get why no one would even have considered it) but I really hope we get a X-mas themed episode in season 4!

A true thomas birthday event would be me making all my friends listen to major organ and the adding machine and i point out all the times kevin and jeff's vocals are heard and the same sound effects and instrumentals you can hear on certain elf power and olivia tremor control songs, then afterwards i show them all the major organ movie and point out how they changed the plot from how it goes in the album. And then jeff mangum walks on stage holding a rainbow flag and plays a song for me just like in my dream i had one time

Announcing the Winners of the 2021 Tech Edvocate Awards
Every day, technology innovations transform the way people learn and how educators teach. In the last few years, the edtech field has attracted a lot of talented people, all with excellent knowledge bases and ideas. Though the edtech industry has been around for a few decades now, the last few years, in particular, have seen a surge in investment from both school districts and investors.
The education market is currently worth around $5 trillion globally, and it is forecasted that edtech investment alone will reach $300 billion by the year 2025. This growing investment into edtech start-ups has created some exciting changes in the world of education. Naturally, with increasing capital, the number of edtech companies, products, and thought leaders is also growing. In that spirit of change and innovation, we present the 5th Annual Tech Edvocate Awards.
After 4 months of hard work, we’ve narrowed down the year’s top edtech companies, products, people and more. We solicited nominees from readers in June/July and held online voting from May 1, 2021 – July 31, 2021. The nominee’s performance during the online voting period was used to gauge their popularity, but in no way signaled that they would become a finalist or walk away with an award. The finalists and winners were ultimately selected by a panel comprised of two edtech thought leaders, two PreK-12 teachers, one college professor, two K-12 administrators, one college administrator and two PreK-12 parents. Here are our winners and finalists for 2021. Winners and finalists can access their award seals by clicking here.
