justin putting a fey that steals your name in kethri's campaign as a trap for me specifically, knowing that kethri is extremely proactively outgoing and friendly and is usually quick to introduce herself, was so incredibly good

#kethri who was also the only person theoretically equipped to be aware and cautious of Fey Lore and The Power Of Names #getting charmed before she even had a chance to recognize that could be what was going on-- #and thereby unable to warn the others-- #was also very good #but 'this will get kethri out of the way immediately to invite the more nervous roleplayers to take a more active role in the encounter' #'in a way that's also just really fun and will be perfect for her character and also really fun for jay to roleplay' #extremely good. my husband's such a fucking good DM. #this isn't even like the best example of his great DMing I just happened to think about it again #but it is a good example of how good he is at maintaining awareness of what his players and their characters are like #and working that into how he designs encounters and story beats and NPCs and soforth #I love him.
